  1. Furthermore, here in our county they are legally obligated to report to the health department above a certain level. The health department then goes into harrassment mode trying to find the source. Can get ugly.
  2. The mission for Single Stack division is really all about the 1911 and nostalgia. Even though the CZ40 is a single stack it does not fit the mission.
  3. In my experience the product will reduce the variability of OAL on your loaded rounds. Is this improvement siginificant? Not for me since I mostly load handgun rounds for USPSA matches. I would appreciate an update on your experience should you decide to try it.
  4. Thats not panhandling its a shakedown. Here in Norcal where so many are out of work right now we do have people who panhandle to survive.
  5. Nice, Kevin. Never did understand folks wanting to post under "KOOL" screen names. The quality of info here could only be improved by making this policy but I am only B classified so what do I know
  6. Yep, fits fine, even with the MGM throw lever for the Leupold. Just switched my TAC 30 over from a Rock River High rise cantilever scope mount over to the Larue SPR-E and it's much better for me, can move the scope out further and shoot NTCH. Still plenty of room to move it back if you don't want it that far forward. Standard or high rings? The standard rings that come with the SPR-E.. I believe Larue makes a model that is 1.93" above the rail as opposed to the normal 1.75" (i think). The 1.93 model is the same as the 104 model (not extended as far as the SPR-E) but that one has higher rings on it, but I personally see no benefit, the SPR-E with the standard rings works fine for me. YMMV I would agree on the standard rings....better cheek weld with that setup. I was concerned that the small cover that protrudes at 45 from the bottom of the scope might interfere with the base but it doesnt sound like it is an issue. Thanks for the help. I love the SPR-E mount and am anxious to get the Burris mounted on my JP to try it out. It is replacing a Trijicon Accupnt 1.25-4 that never really agreed with me.

  8. It does make you appreciate the guys who are at least up front about it and ask for money for liquor. I guess I am a sap since I give the panhandlers here cash all the time. Makes me feel good on an otherwise bad day.
  9. I am thankful for my wife every day....Period.
  10. Anyone mount one of these yet with an LT139 mount? Wondering if it will fit with the low rings.
  11. Nice gun, Supermoto. Looks like the blast is pretty severe, though. How is it to shoot?
  12. I would agree on this. I loaded first on a SDB and then a 550B for 5 years before taking the plunge and purchasing a 1050. I thought for almost twice the money I would have a machine that was more reliable and less needy in terms of the constant tweeking and tuning the 550b requires. That was not the case, the 1050 requires even more. If you are looking for trouble free loading I would stick with the SDB or the 550B with a case feed. This is not an isolated case of lemon machines. Read the archives.
  13. I have a 550B and a super1050. In some ways I prefer the 550 for it's simplicity compared to the more expensive models. By the way, Sarge's advice above to get access to a chronograph is spot on. Very important.
  14. You missed something huge there Larry. You made an absolute statement that starting with a 140 was a "distinct disadvantage". You didn't say that something else worked better for you, or was your preference, you simply said A is better than B. That obviously isn't the case, and that was what I was pointing out. Further, you replied to my post, which was simply agreeing with XRe. You chose to quote both if us, and said we were wrong...using an absolute. That's why I pointed out that a B telling a GM that he's wrong, in an absolute sense, is kind of silly. If you'd said "this works better for me"....rock on, glad you're happy with it. R, Well I guess The forum here has reached the point where only GMs can post opinions without being flamed. Very sad really.
  15. Yep, I don't use a 170 if it doesn't make sense to...I often wonder why someone uses a big stick when it's something like a 16rd stage! R, Why not? My 170s are just as reliable as my 140s and I reload to them just as well. I always practice with 170s and then it becomes the norm. I never use a 140 unless there is good reason to. It is a distinct disadvantage. Maybe if somebody really has accuracy issues and needs twice the number of rounds required for the stage it would be an advantage. Other than that, it's wasted weight you're lugging around (slower transitions for most folks), and it's not in the best place from a balance perspective. Hey, but what does XRe know, he's just a GM. If somebody can reload a 170 as fast and consistently as they can a 140, it means they're probably really slow with both. R, I believe in consistency and prefer to practice with one instead of multiple setups. It is sometimes advantageous based on stage design to start with a 170 and that is of course worst case so why practice with anything else. Do you really think there is ONE best way? I prefer not to play "follow the leader" because I enjoy figuring out what works best for me. Copying someone else would take away most of the fun. As to the fact that Xre is a GM and I am not....Should we now adopt the policy of a hierarchy of posts based on classifications? Should I stop participating in a thread as soon as a M or GM posts? Excuse me for participating where the great Bart and Xre have differing opinions of mine. I think Ill just go and practice my slow reloads now.........I expected better really.
  16. Hmmm. Interesting. They have never been anything but helpful and courteous to me. They also have never failed to contribute to our local charity match when I have been handling the prize table and raffle. I wouldnt buy from anyone else.
  17. Guess I am just lucky.....My SV 170s ALL work in ALL of my guns with just a little initial tuning. You might look for other issues on the gun that they dont work in.
  18. Shooting open is not cheap "dude". I have yet to retire ANY of my mags. Since witching to Gramms guts all I change out is the springs.
  19. Learn to tune for reliability and maintain your own mags. I do not chase that extra round of capacity since in the average long COF there is almost always a decent place to reload off the clock. I consider this to be part of the basics since most of us dont have a gunsmith on retainer. Im baffled by some of the responses lately that suggest you never drop a big stick. Other than initially tuning and polishing the insides of the tubes, I rarely have to do anything but clean them after they are dropped. Has the race for that extra round made 2011 mags highly finicky?
  20. I always start with a 170mm and then generally reload to a 170mm if a reload is needed. I run 38supercomp and use SV tubes and gramms guts so my 170s are rock solid.

  22. I run all 170s unless I have to go prone. At a prone position I make sure I have a 140 loaded so the mag does not interfere with the ground or other surface under the grip.
  23. I have them specially fitted by Dan bedell on two of his excellent open guns. Love them.
  24. I would say go with the SPR-E, you can always move the scope mount back on the receiver if it's too far out. But I ended up going with the PEPR mount and it is working good for me. MB I have the PEPR, I was very disappointed to find that if you take it off and put it back on your POI moves about 4"s at 25 yards. I am looking at the American Defense mount, several shooters have told me that its return to zero is better than the LaRue mount. I had to move my PEPR back a bit to get the perfect eye relief but as mounts go it is a good one just doesn't return to zero. On Short range tactical matches it is nice to throw the EO Tech on, then for 3-Gun change to the tube. I have tested my Larue many times and have never had to re zero it.
  25. Or....You could just shoot it and worry about the "proper" SSTK mods later.
