  1. I have owned guns with the Bedell steel and Ti, Brazos thunder2, and EGW steel compensators. I prefer the Bedell steel ones and have them on three guns right now.
  2. I cant really speak for anybody else but for me, when that buzzer goes off I cant feel the weight difference of a few ounces balanced one way or another. I use aimpoint XD tubes that are a bit heavier than a Cmore so weight is not at issue for me. I switched from Cmores for many reasons, none having to do with weight or balance. I see many advantages to tube dots. Were I using a Cmore, I would go with an offset mount for the sole reason of wanting the dot to be closer to the slide. Helps me find the dot.
  3. Yes. I started with an upright Cmore then went sideways. My smith built a sideways mount before most others years ago. Ditched them both for tube dots after trying one because it worked better for me. That has zero to do with any supposed equipment race, though.
  4. This kind of "follow the leader" equipment race has NOTHING to do with ingenuity. Nils beat everyone because he was the best competitor at the match, not because of his gun setup.
  5. It seems that Hollywierd can no longer come up with original movies that aren't animated! I didn't know, or care, that a remake is out. Gotta agree with Dan. This was a classic and in the last few years I feel like I have had a lifetimes share of remakes.
  6. Dan, Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my father in 2010. Not a day goes by that I dont think about him but the pain of the loss does fade. Try to dwell on the time you enjoyed together. Larry
  7. Well you could just pick the powder of these three that is cheapest and most readily available for you that makes PF cleanly and safely. Load a couple of hundred rounds of a load in the 172pf range and just start shooting it. I think your grip and technique makes a huge difference in the perceived recoil and muzzle flip. Right now when you are at the beginning of the learning curve trigger time is much more important than load development.
  8. Why is it easier? Or why is it harder on a traditional mount? I have a traditional mount, and never had/have a problem. The lense of the C-More is pretty much still in the same place, whether it's turned sideways or not. And as for parallax, the A zone is huge up close, so 2" offset in the middle of the A zone, is still an A zone hit. When I present the gun, the dot is always there with a side mount. Not so with a traditional mount. Why? beats the crap out of me. Other people have said the same thing--the side mount works better for them. May be it has something to do with physical size or the alignment of the stars.. The body of the Cmore is no longer between the slide and the lens when it is mounted on it's side. Therefore the dot is closer to the slide by an amount equal to the body height of the Cmore. The dot presents itself almost like irons. This is why a tube site is much easier to find for most folks that try them.
  9. I also use our Playstation 3 to play Blu Ray and lots of other content. Zero complaints or problems with it.
  10. It is a well known issue with the 1050 shellplate for supercomp, the latest thread is here. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94141 Dillon was supposedly working on a fix for it but they seem to have dropped the ball on it. Guess we just have to add this on to brian's list of mods/tweeks that need to be done to make these things run reliably.
  11. Hmmm. The lack of a tube and rear lens on the cmore is one of the main reasons I still use Aimpoints. Started with a Cmore and then transitioned to a tube and have never felt disadvantaged by it. As I see it the only disadvantage to using a tube scope is the "cool" factor that some feel with the Cmore. I Started using PDP3s and after going through 5 of them in 18 months changed to Aimpoints. In four years I have only had one Aimpoint XD fail and they fixed it within 2 weeks for $30. Pretty good service considering the scope was 20 years old.
  12. Had the same issue some years back. Took 5 months to get a new barrel. Chamber was unfinished on mine.
  13. Nope. Case volume for super and it's variants is greater so pressures will be lower. Couple that with beefed up case webs for Comp and TJ brass and you wonder just how far folks are pushing used commercial brass. It is no surprise that 9Major loads are in the 55K+ range. Read the archives and you will see that this has been discussed for years. Folks believe just what they choose to believe even when credible evidence states otherwise.
  14. I think ANY questions you ask have the potential to turn away valid new members. This is an issue for all online forums and BBs. Best answer to this problem is to return to policies that used to be the norm but have since disappeared that required users identities to be positively verified by the admins before entry is granted. I ran many BBs in the mid 80s and we used to require that a new user send in a copy of their DL to gain entry. Accountability used to be much higher and therefore the quality of online info was much better. My .02
  15. Learn to shoot with both eyes open and a target focus and the sight body will not interfere.
  16. Yeah, but then you would still be shooting with "those Darn ICORE Guys"!
  17. Seems like a lot of work to end up still using an unreliable product. Read the archives. Lots of threads on this. The Midways are rock solid and much cheaper.
  18. Yup. I actually went through two in the space of 6 months. Both died before 100 hours runtime. Dillon gave me some credit for the first and offered to replace the second but I gave up on them and bought another Midway which has been going strong now for years.
  19. Abandoning the Cmore would be terrible! We discourage innovation......
  20. Get a good family law attorney. 'Nuff said.
  21. Are they hold up well with major load?I know Aimpoint is one of the best tube red dot in the market.I think about getting myself the Micro but not quite ready. After using both Aimpoints and Cmores on open guns, I trust my money to the Aimpoints. The Aimpoint has a lot of advantages over the Cmore but my siggestion is to try both and compare the designs and make the judgment on your own.
  22. I have one on mine... So does the scope on my Bedell, and that one has barely changed over a couple of years. It doesn't make sense, but I'm not messing with one that works. Not to knock C-More, but I sure think that somebody could come up with a similar style scope, that had a smaller footprint, and get rid of the few issues they have...it's a pretty old design at this point. R, The better open shooters I know who use Cmores all check their zeros before matches. This is pretty good evidence to me that this is neccesary. I use Aimpoints because I really dont trust the design of the Cmore and at least until a few years ago I didnt want to deal with the 2+ inches of offset most setups have. The sideways mounts have improved these drastically but the design of the site is still not robust in my mind. Great marketing though
  23. I use the Uniqetek light on all of my presses. What works for me is a small lamp that clamps onto the frame and puts light just where I need it.
  24. My wife and I both run Aimpoint Comps. What is the question?
  25. 1K?? Why bother Last time I ordered 8 cases. I had the mail carrier allow me to unload them. Most mail carriers probably wont want to touch these. It is always good to make friends with the guy who delivers your mail.
