  1. For steel minor loads a light weight bullet ie sub 100 grain and a powder charge similar to a 124 grain load will get you close to where you wanna be
  2. Just run my reliable 28 rounder here with grams guts Dawson non snl. Just not paying the money for a 31 rounder I really would have no use for as i wouldn't run a 32 round stage with only 32 rounds and no reload planned as I feel I wouldn't shoot slower as it would be basically Virginia count and I think I could run it faster if I know I have a makeup if need be
  3. 625 is a nice gun just depends on if you like the feel of the gun. Brownings and berettas have a totally different feel and balance same as the high dollar krieghoffs will feel different from the perazzi and kolar
  4. CAn you have someone take a picture of your entire gun mount
  5. Will they run reliable in the gun If a semi. A lot of times they wont
  6. Thicker recoil pad for the length. If its coming up and hitting cheek a piece if foam. Hobby lobby sells sheets that can be stuck on. You can also shim the butt pad with a couple pieces of cardboard from a shell box on at the top of the pad between pad and stock
  7. I think upgraded trigger parts trigger jobs slide cuts etc do add value to the gun as a lot if people will get them done anyway and would be glad to pay for it done. Holsters belts and mag pouches may not add much to the value or desire as the person may not want or need them or have a different waist size or holster preference
  8. 1.145 is pretty short for open. I would have them open the barrel up so you can take advantage of more length
  9. It really depends on your budget But I would go Browning or Beretta as a low end and go used if need be. I use to shoot a ton of skeet and a lot of people tried to get a cheap OU just to have one when they could afford a nice semi. The cheap guns don't hold up to the use that clays puts on them. A used Beretta or Browning usually holds its value very well
  10. The WRS is the way to go if you get a bladetech. I shot a Glock for a bit out of a Safariland as I couldn't find a retention holster for my 6 inch STI. I have since gotten a Gcode for the STI and love it. Its a dropped holster with a thumb break you push straight down to disengage. If I am standing and drawing the pistol first I leave the hood forward. If I am moving, I engage the hood and have no worries about the gun coming out
  11. Plated bullets do not work well at major pf and how bad are the groups falling apart at major
  12. What is your load that your using. 10 pound is as light as they come for a glock. Any lighter and you run a good chance of the gun coming out of battery as the striker spring and recoil spring work against each other.
  13. Ya ejection port needs to be lowered on the verticle mounts.
  14. Guy we shoot with had the same issue. It's like the mag tube won't slide in far enough forward in the extension. We tried my base pad on his tube and it worked. His base on my tube jammed. Mine is an older setup his was just bought
  15. I have run both and they are comparable. If I were buying extensions noemi would go taran tactical
  16. For trap get a shell catcher as to not hit the guy to your right
  17. The svi grip Is also not a drop in to an sti frame
  18. What does the higher capacity mags/tubes actually cost? A glock extension for their glock runs about 35 bucks and really you could get by with 1 extension anyway. Shotgun tube? Nordic sells the tube for the same cost regardless of length and if they run their hunting gun, there is no reason to not have a long tube with the long barrel. Rifle mag? Pmag 40 rounders run like 20 bucks and its not like they are that uncommon among non competition shooters, just scroll through arfcom. So I have yet to see the great investment required to shoot 3 gun with higher capacity equipment.
  19. I am all for that option but only if it is applied where possession of the mags is totally prohibited.
  20. it sounds to me like the only place it would apply is places where there are a max capacity period ie no grandfathered mags. I think it is worded very well as it doesn't simply state all laws must be followed as that leaves the area open for those who have special exemptions that don't apply to everyone else. Like was mentioned earlier, the prime example would be people with law enforcement exemptions would definately have an advantage in places where there were no grandfathered mags and it simply stated follow the law as they would be following the law by using full capacity mags. The only division it would really affect is Open as the limited shooters would simply shoot limited 10 as there would be no reason to shoot limited if the max was 10 rounds anyway. In open, full capacity mags would be a pretty big advantage when shooting open vs open 10.
  21. It really depends on the squad. Some people want quiet others could care less. I know the squad I shoot steel with talking is no issue and some good ridicule goes on even between strings.
  22. 3.3.1: In states where competitors are restricted by law to maximum magazine capacity, that maximum capacity will be the maximum allowed for all competitors in the contest. Any such limitations must be made known to all competitors by the Match Director/Range Master before the start of the match. New Rule to help with magazine capacity restrictions. I think what this primarily deals with is places such as NY where there is no grandfathering and the max capacity in competition use is 10 rounds. It sounds like what they are trying to prevent is Mr Police officer from walking out to a match shooting open where everyone else is shooting Open 10 and slapping in his LEO exempt 30 round big stick and having a major advantage over everyone else in the match
  23. I can agree with that to a point. The gray area comes into defining what a "hard Lean" is. A "hard lean" to an over weight 50 year old shooter is probably not the same as a "hard lean" of an in shape 25 year old. I think in the end, its all about what an equitable penalty is for the faulting scenario. A single 10 point procedural penalty has a pretty big impact to a shooters hit factor. I usually look at it from a HF vs Time perspective. If the stage is a 10HF stage the shooter would need to gain a Time advantage of at least 1 second to make faulting and eating a procedural a wash. There are very few "Hard Lean" scenarios that I could see ANY skill level shooter gaining more than a second time advantage by avoiding the hard lean and shooting from a faulted position. In this type of scenario a single procedural penalty is more than enough to make it not worth doing. Why try to club the shooter over the head assessing excessive per shot fired procedurals when you already have a sufficient penalty by assessing a single procedural? A good example of those would be the ones where you are more or less persuaded to shoot one handed due to a very extreme lean. Make it 3 -4 targets like that what you would have to shoot say week hand due to stage layout and make it one procedural to step out and fault and shoot basically freestyle and its probably well worth it
  24. 391 if you can find an older one is a good choice and the parallel comb version is nice especially if you have the adj comb cut on it. Avoid the OU as its a nice gun but to get a decent one is gonna cost a good chunk of change and if something breaks its more costly to repair. The Semi Auto is easily repaired if need be. As for length of the gun a 28 or 30 inch barrel is fine and 12 ga is the way to go. The 12 ga actually will have less recoil with light loads than a dedicated 20 ga gun. I wouldn't worry too much about the gun being too heavy as proper technique make the weight easily managed. I use to shoot in HS/College with some small ladies that could swing a 10+ pound tubed OU better than alot of 250 pound guys out there by having good technique and form. I actually started the college team when I was in college and a personal gun was best and what the more serious people used but a 391 should be able to work and fit alot of people pretty decent at least
