  1. If you have trouble with the weak hand I would avoid production with the limited number of mods and reduced mag capacity. In limited and open you can use a slide racket which makes it much easier to manipulate the gun
  2. Some do some dont. I run the Dawson alumabuff in mine
  3. It is not always scored as shot and depending on the reason may allow the shooter a reshoot. If the competitor starts a cof and either has his eyes or ears dislodged or has forgotten them under 5.4.4
  4. Com covers the gun more. But the race master is good to go retention wise as if locked its kit coming out
  5. A Right side racker works as well. I run a cheely short racker on the right side of the gun as I have a setback mount and there racker on the left side would hit the actual cmore its self. I just run it on the right side and it works well for me.
  6. Agree, the COF begins at make ready and ends at range is clear. The shooter may handle their gun between that time frame. It is also the responsibility of the call range is clear only after the gun is secured in the holster. Example would be a shooter using a race holster that is new to that particular race holster and isn't as smooth at getting it in the holster as people who are more use to them. If the RO calls range is clear the second it hits the holster before its actually holstered it would be hard to DQ a shooter who was still in the process of getting his gun secured because the RO called range is clear too early.
  7. Untuned sti mag body with hardy spacer grams spring and follower and snl base pad for 23 reload able. My big stick is untuned with grams guts and Dawson non snl for 28 I can reload to. It would do 29 with a snl but the non snl gives me more wiggle room in the gauge
  8. I have had good luck with the Taylor freelance 170 extension can get 28 reload and like 45-50 bucks for the spring and extension
  9. Weight doesn't seem too bad actually. Shot skeet here with a gun in the 11 pound range. With his it gets lighter pretty quick and never having to reload at all can be a huge advantage
  10. You always have the low profile gas block under the hand guard option and the dimples help prevent it from moving and are done for the gas block installed. Other options are a clamp on or cutting down the front sight tower. I have run the yhm gas blocks with the set screws and they tent to get a good bite and I have never had one move.
  11. For minor try lighter bullets and slower powder to get the pf where you want it and give the comp some gas
  12. Retention is more important than anything in 3 gun. Your draw speed isn't where your gonna win a match but a dropped gun is where you will loose one
  13. I would go plugs over muffs as they can get in the way of a stock mount. A cheap walmart pouch for shells gets the job done. I would just let them know your new at the club and there is usually people at the clubs that can walk new shooters through stuff and get them going in the right direction as far as foot position, gun mount and how to lead the target as well as you hold points. That will get you started in the right direction before you start shelling out money for instructors especially the high dollar ones as you will not get your moneys worth starting out. The formal private lessons which can get costly will do you more good once you have at least a little experience under your belt.
  14. CRT for an adjustible. For a non adjustible there is always the old tried and true fixed A2
  15. In reality the carry protocol most use when arriving at the match is pulling in removing carry gun from holster and place in the carry mode in the glove box under the seat etc then exit the vehicle and do the opposite after entering the vehicle to leave. I have never seen one cleared and loaded up upon someone arriving at the range
  16. Shooters who don't help reset paste etc are few and far between. I know of a couple of people who your more likely to see Bigfoot riding a unicorn with a sack full of 22lr than to see them paste or reset a target. Easiest thing to do for that is when it is their turn to shoot everyone sit while they do their walk through and let them paste their own targets. They learn pretty fast.
  17. I think the easier the stages are to break down the more likely people are to stay and help. If your walls are the snow fence walls in stands with a zip tie holding the the walls to each other together along with some barrels etc your more likely to have it torn down and at the bay mouth for the trailer as its fast and the only tools needed are a knife which most any man carries. It it's heavy wood walls with everything screwed together solid where you need screw guns to remove everything then you will have a lot of targets removed barrels moved but those walls will remain standing. For whoever has the trailer.
  18. I run the spring that works best for my gun. First is make sure the gun runs then I go for how it feels the tracks. I take one sight picture and double tap the gun if the second shot is low I go lighter if its too high go heavier
  19. I have seen the exact opposite with the caspian slides. Had 2 and the first one cracked the breech face and the second one which they claim as a gunsmith fit was way out if spec to the tune that the stock fp safety wouldn't go in at all and the vanek which is a touch smaller would go in if your pushed hard but wouldn't function. The striker would also not move freely on the channel. That's not gunsmith fit in those areas I returned it and have a line wolf now and it's a nicer part. Caspian has sure dropped the ball on glock parts
  20. I agree uspsa dosent need to get involved in prize tables. Honestly no matter what you do your not gonna make everyone happy. The match director does the best they can to use the prizes that were donated to make the most people happy and promote the sponsors the best they can. If they take the very expensive stuff and go to the champ it makes the handful of people that actually have a chance of winning them happy but does little to draw anyone else to the match who has no chance of getting one. It also dosent make the sponsors who donated them look like they are well appreciated when they end up sold right off the bat. Do random draw and it gets the top shooters mad as they arnt gonna necessarily win a gun if they win the match. It does help draw others to the match as they have a chance of getting the gun and it puts the sponsors where there is a better chance of someone actually getting and keeping their gun. It's a delicate balance as to not piss off the top gm guys as well as not alienate the a-c class guys who make up the majority of the shooters at your ave level 2 match. I have been on both sides so seen it from both was in different sports. Shooting uspsa as a b class shooter and coming from Skeet where I was a very competitive AAA
  21. I think it depends on the gun and the spring your using. If your running lighter springs change them more often than heavy ones as the heavier ones while lightening up some still have enough to work the gun. This isn't always the case with light ones
