Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I load 124gr JHP with it in 9mm and really like it.
  2. I am trying to decide if I want to go with a RT 1500 or a Giraud trimmer primarily for 5.56. My plans are to de-prime, wet tumble, size, swage, trim, then reload. Would there be any use using the M die in station 1 on the reloading step after using the Girard trimmer. I still am torn between the Girard and the RT 1500. I am leaning towards the Giraud since I also load 308 and 7MM ultra mag and would get the trimmer heads for them as well. Any feed back and recommendations would be appreciated.
  3. Can anyone recommend a good low profile gas block that will fight under and ALG hand guard? I was looking at JP but am unsure if it will fit. Thanks
  4. Getting ready to start loading .223 / 5.56 on my 650 and am looking for die recommendations and set-ups. Right now I plan on de-priming and sizing, then cleaning followed by charging and seating / crimping.
  5. I am getting ready to start reloading 5.66 on my 650 and am looking for opinions on dies, set-up, and overall process. Right now I load 4 different pistol calibers on the 650. I will be loading for 4 different AR's. I wet tumble and the process I use now is I de-cap with a universal die, then wet tumble and reload in the normal process. I want to do something similar for rifle. I am debating two possible set-ups: 1. Set-up the rapid trim 1500, then reload. If I use this option is it worth it to get the carbide die vs. the steel die. 2. Use a Giraud or Frankford Arsenal prep center for processing the brass then reload. Is the Giraud worth the price over the Frankford? I am looking for options for each of these set-ups as well as pluses and minus's of each option as well as specific dies guys are using to load for their AR's on the 650. I don't mind spending a little more for quality equipment for a good set-up. Thanks in advance.
  6. I was getting a fail rate of about 5% on 9mm on my 650. That was way too high after trouble shooting it was my seating die I flipped the stem around to the shape that matches my bullet profile better. It was seating some bullets crooked. My fail rate is less than 5 per thousand now. My die set-up 1 Lee sizing die 2 Dillon powder 3 Powder check 4 Dillion seating 5 Dillion crimp
  7. I have to thank everyone that has replied so far. There is already a ton of valuable information shared so far. I have started some detailed research based on what information in this thread. I have found that I am deveating some from what I had originally planned. That is exactly what I was looking for hopefully it will keep me from spending too much money twice.
  8. Thank you to everyone that has replied. It will help me spend my money only once"hopefully ". The ARs I have built are to go burn some ammo at the range. My hope for this build is to be a quality product with a purpose.
  9. In the next few months I plan on building an AR for 3 gun. I am hoping for any input folks here would be willing to give on the various components. I have built AR's in the past. I am new to 3 gun and will just be shooting club events. From a quality standpoint I am looking to build a reliable quality gun, however I don't plan on spending extra money because of a certain brand name or that it is the "in thing" right now. So in the end I will be looking for quality parts that add to the performance of the gun. Any input would be greatly appreciated on the following list, companies, brands and especially specific parts. Thanks in advance. 1. Stripped lower - lower components - trigger 2. Stripped upper - upper components 3. Barrel (5.56) 4. Compensator / brake 5. BCG 6. Stock 7. Buffer 8. Handguard 9. Optics Any other input or information that could be helpful in choosing the parts for my build.
  10. I find the 4.9 load to be my favorite. I haven't chronoed any more. I find this as accurate as any factory loads I shoot, I am the limiting factor for my accuracy. I would say it holds 2 inch groups at 25 yards.
  11. I do shoot at a range were there is a lot of military brass. I really don't see it as a problem, but I am sure it is the brass itself. I ran 400 cases of mixed non-WIN brass today with no issues, the only ones I have seen is may 25-30 cases of the 500 WIN cases I have reloaded.
  12. I have been loading some 9 mm on my new 650. To start I wanted to sort the brass by headstamp to have consistency until I get a good feel for the machine. About 1 out of 10 WIN cases have to small of primer pocket to properly seat the primer. They will be high or flattened. I can feel which ones as soon as I start my downstroke, so I broke out my swagger and as soon as I feel the resistance I pull it an sewage it and it works fine. I can see no difference on the tight headstamps and the ones that work fine. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue. It's no big deal to me I am not reloading for speed so the extra few seconds every once in a while doesn't bother me.
  13. Comment for future reference. Great looking brass.
