  1. For what I have had in the general Austin area... Rudy's takes the cake for the local shops(north Austin). Being a Northerner... I always had Ribs as BBQ. I moved to GA, and was introduced to brisket, although Pork rules there. I now own a big green egg and make whatever I feel like. Thinking about putting on a pork shoulder for Christmas dinner as a matter of fact. I do think a trip to Killeen is in my future with Frank's link.
  2. I didnt see the show... had no interest in it. As I dont much care for American Choppers anymore. I would have watched if it had been the real "biker build off" of a few years ago. The show where 2 guys build a bike, meet somewhere and ride to a show to have the fans at the show vote on the bike. I have only ever seen OCC/PJD bikes go around the block on the test drive and the 10 feet during the unveil. Biker Build off introduced me to real builders... Indian Larry, Billy Lane, Dave Perewitz, and my two favorites from the show Russell Mitchell and Matt Hotch. OCC/PJD are not in the same class, if you ask me. I have never liked Jr., his designs were ok, IMHO. I only watched the show, for the entertainment of the in fighting to get everything done. JJ has always been about the bike and the process. He seems to be full of himself, and probably a big A@#hat, but his bikes speak to me. Everyone likes something different.
  3. Find out the rules you will be playing by for most of your shooting. Some heavy let you shoot other that 45 in pistol.
  4. From Dave's page. "The pistol is a custom Springfield 1911-A1, .45 ACP. Square trigger guard w light-rail dustcover, short/flat trigger, ambi-safety, Schuemann barrel, TGO Tech Well, Mil-Tac G10 diamond grips, Warren Tactical Series-Sevigny Competition sight, over size mag release and Ion Bond DLC finish. The magazines are 8 rnd. Tripp Cobra. I've been running 230 gr. FMJ at approx. 170 P.F. from Atlanta Arms and Ammo."
  5. I was in your boat a couple of years ago. I wanted to shoot in SS, and bought a 45 to do it. It was a great little shooter, and I loved shooting it. but I didnt shoot it all the time. I did get set up to reload 45, but the component prices did get the best of me as I had to buy brass to start and it was not plentiful at that time. Factory ammo was rediculous, so that aided the choice as well. Besides, I was still shooting a lot of 40 in limited and hated the 4 minutes it took to change the press over. So I went with a STI Trojan in 40. i can keep my normal limited load and use it in the SS and everything is fine. Have not looked back since. heck I am still using my 45 mags and they run like a dream in my gun. Matt
  6. It looks like Eric's site has them for sale now. http://www.ericgrauffel.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=268 I cant read French, but it looks for sale at 168 euros.
  7. Here is how my local club does it(Texas Multigun). Raw Time (1 Paper Misses No Shoots target Not Engaged Procedurals Total Procedurals X 5 (2 Steel/Clay Misses X 10 (3 Total Time (1+2+3) The boxes from the form didnt show up, but the drift is everything above total procedurals counts as +5, and steel/clay misses count as +10. It runs really well, and there is no complaints that I have heard. Good luck with the match.
  8. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=135151&st=0&p=1520223&hl=eaa&fromsearch=1entry1520223 or go to the classifieds and search for EAA.
  9. They looked like Man Mountain Engineering Shot Shell Caddies. I have a few and my wife pointed out that they looked like mine. Matt
  10. Yes, you can load long. the 45 mags let you load long as well. I load to 1.18, and shoot the same load it my limited gun and the Trojan. The only issue is that my limited barrel is a little shorter, so the load is a little hotter out of the Trojan. If you had the same barrel length you should be golden. Matt
  11. I have been running Wilson 45 mags from Brian's site. I run both the 47DE and the 500. I wanted to try both and they both run fine. I have not yet run and 40 or 10mm mags in my trojan 40. Matt
  12. From the squadding site, it looks like only 2 have signed up so far.
  13. Garth Brooks? No we were talking about music. my intent was not to offer of Garth as someone for the OP to check out. Merely telling the story of how I ended up finding George Jones. sorry to bring Garth up... let me know when you talk about "GOOD MUSIC" and I will bring him up in that thread. ha ha.
  14. I ran a millet for a while and recently upgraded. In my opinion it was a good starter but if you shoot often, you will out grow it quickly. I used it occasionally for about 2 years and monthly for about 1 year. Once I hit the regular monthly matches, I could tell that I needed something else. I needed some serious eye relief, might be that my scope was a gen 2 I think and the newer have a little better eye relief. I was thinking about the tac-30, as I was able to play with one at a match, would be a great starter but they are a little hard to find now. A solid mount wont be a bad investment as it will last. As for the mount... I bought a package with a Bobro mount. Seems like it is going to solid mount. Only thing I dont like is the fact that they do vertical screws. It made it a little difficult to get the scope mounted. LaRue and others have horizontal... seems like it would be easier to do horizontal. just my 2 cents. Matt
  15. George Jones? solid stories about drinking and lovin'. I started listening to country right when Garth Brooks released his first cd, and have never left country as my preferred genre. I was lucky enough to get to see Garth this past November in Vegas. It was not is old show, it was more about how he developed his style. He always went back to what his dad listen to, Haggard and Jones. I was always a Haggard fan, but that opened me up to George Jones. I listen to the new stuff, but really dig the older stuff. My wife prefers for me to listen to it on headphones.
  16. To be able to be the sniper on any of the COD games, you need to play on HardCore, where the kill cam is turned off. Too often you have the guy that you just killed take you out because he sat and watched the kill cam and knows where you are sitting. I will be in line for MW3. I have not played battlefield, but I was playing homefront for a while but it would never let our party into the same map(which was one of the selling points of the game) Matt
  17. So I mounted up the scope and went to the range today. Overall I think I will keep the mount for a few matches and see how it performs. The only thing I can say I dont like is the vertical pins. It was a little bit of a pain, as the base of the mount is in the way when wrenching the nuts. Overall not too bad. Matt
  18. I just received one from SWFA with a scope. Seems solid and looks good. Feels like the same quality material as the LaRue mount that I might use. I will pick one by the end of the weekend and the other will be up for sale by Monday. I will try to check back in after I have range time with it. Matt
  19. Keep you eye on this thread, but you can check the main club website for the application. http://texasmultigun.com/tmg/ Not sure on the match fee. My guess is the app will be available around December. Matt
  20. your in the right section for 40 loads. The earlier post was really about using the search function at the top right of the board. I did a quick search called "soft major" and these were the results. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1 not much returned but you get the gist. Matt
  21. what one little letter does to your enjoyment. I prefer Hillary over Hilary.
  22. I want one.. I may try to make a home cooked one if I dont have luck fining one close to me.
  23. Originally my 1100 did not have one on it. It currently does, as I got it for free from a buddy. My new(to me) Benelli doesn't and wont ever have one. When I get the time I will remove the 1100 pistol grip as well. As I am not that skilled at reloading, I think the grip gets in my way(read that I am all over the place when trying to reload). Just my feelings, I don't think I get enough out of it to have one on my shotgun. Matt
  24. What about the DPMS 3G1 for a first 3 gun rifle? It looks somewhat comparable to my semi-custom rifle, at an attractive price when compared to the others.
  25. I will offer up something that happened to me... I was an RO at Area 6 '10. Mark Ramsey happened to be shooting in the squad I was RO'ing. After the squad was completely done, he came up shook my hand and said thanks for RO'ing and offered on a tip. He just gave me a tip about holding the timer so that I could see the time out of the corner of my eye with just a glance when the shooter was finished then move the timer so that it would not be hit by anything. Something I wasnt doing, but made a lot of sense and I have incorporated it into what I do sense then. Mark approached it as a teaching/training opportunity, and I took it that way. I think those are the important things, how the tip/correction is offered and how willing the person is take the tip.
