  1. I would have asked someone else to take the timer for my run, and would have made sure that he didnt run me for the est of the day.
  2. Hate to jump in here with more possibly silly questions, but will there be a safe area near the parking? If not, it sounds as if I will have to carry both my long guns in their cases & wheel my cart all the way to a safe area, then unbag, put them on my cart, then carry all my bags all the way back to my truck so I don't have to haul them all day long. Is that what you are saying Jason? Of course, then at the end of the day, I have to go to my truck, gather my bags, haul them all the way back to a safe area, bag the guns again, once more, carrying two long guns in cases, then push my cart back to the truck. Am I missing something here or is that what you are telling us all to do? Surely that is not the case, that isn't what you are saying. There must be a safe area close to the parking? The parking area is a long ways away from the shooting area, best I remember. Or are we able to park close? I believe that the same rules apply from last year, which allow removing long rifles from cases at your vehicle and getting them in condition to carry. Handguns must go to a safety area. Here are the rules: 1.4 Rifles & Shotguns (carry from vehicle or between stages) 1.4.1 Rifles & shotguns must be cased, secured muzzle up or muzzle down in a stable gun cart/caddy, or carried vertically slung with the muzzle up. 1.4.2 Rifles & shotguns must be carried with actions open and detachable magazines removed. 1.5 Handguns (carry from vehicle or between stages) 1.5.1 Handguns must arrive at the range in a case and remain in the case during transport to a designated Safety Area for initial holstering. A handgun may also be holstered initially under direction and supervision of a Range Officer. 1.5.2 Handguns must be cased or remain in holster, magazine removed except in designated Safety Areas, or under the direction of Range Officer(s) on a stage. 1.5.3 Handguns must be carried with the "Hammer/Striker Down." I am sure if there is a difference one of the match staff will weigh in.
  3. There are some Academy Sports shops off I-35, Dicks has a place off of 130. Plus there are plenty of Wal-mart's. I wouldn't go past Georgetown with out stopping, as there is nothing really between Georgetown and Liberty Hill on 20. Matt
  4. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90231 From Brian himself. Classifieds and Humor dont count toward your post total. That is pretty much it, that I know of. Look at the pinned topics in the "FAQs & News" and the sub forum "Visitors & New Member Info". there may be more information there too.
  5. Thanks for the vids. I'm planning to run a 9mm pistol in limited, but not so sure after all that steel. It's "must drop" scoring on steel, right? 9mm will be fine for the steel. I have used whitebox, federal bulk packs and have not had an issue with knocking them down.
  6. I loved living in Chicago. I also happen to love pizza, too. I agree with the above, down to Gino's being my favorite. Lou's sauce on top is not my thing, so Gino's is the way I go. There are local mom amd pop places that are better. Bracino's in Lincoln Park is where it is at when i go back. For something different but yet still deep dish, try Giordano's. By the way if sausage is your pleasure, order "broken". If you dont it is a whole patty of sausage that can be a little much to handle. I wish I could head back today and pick one up... Only Lou' ships out of state though. Matt
  7. I use 4.7 grains under a 180 Montana Gold cmj. I load to 1.18. It makes about 170 in my Tanfoglio Limited with 4.75 in barrel. What gun are using and what is your intended use?
  8. If you are just ordering mags... go to Greg Cote. Better price, you see what you are ordering and his turn around is crazy fast. I just got 3 k9 mags from him.
  9. plus 1 for Greg. I ordered some k9s a couple a weeks ago, as 5:30 central on a Friday. Got notification of shipment later that night and they were on my doorstep Tues.(Monday was a Holiday). Good Prices as well.
  10. Ready tacitcal? CPWSA has them for all 1911 models in either IDPA or USPSA. I am not sure what the difference is between USPSA and IDPA, but I have the USPSA version. No frills. straight forward kydex holster. I am sure other vendors carry the same holster, I just happen to get mine from CPWSA. Matt
  11. Welcome to the forum. Take a look at http://www.txipsc.net/. There is a map of all the matches in Texas(or a heck of a lot of all the matches), that was put together by a member of the forum. It has idpa, uspsa, and 3 gun listed. Stick with the STI for now and figure out which one you are going to do, then upgrade/change to equipment more suited for that game. Check the classifieds here and see if you can find used gear. Matt
  12. It was late last night and I didn't feel like breaking out the camera.... but here is some proof. The gun is not in great shape, but isn't too bad. I will head on over to the S&W forum and see what I can find out. thanks for the info. Matt
  13. I came across a older SW revolver, and i would like to get some more info on it. Got no idea about revolvers so i need to know where to turn. Here is what i know.... Right side is marked with 38 s&w special then under that is US service CTG'S. Is there an online source or another resource that i could use to find information. Ther is a numer on the frame and a different number on the cylinder. Thoughts? Pictures may come later
  14. Sounds like bashing to me. My personal experience with multiple orders with CPWSA has been stellar, including ordering stuff on Wednesday night and having it before Saturday for a match without any kind of priority shipping put on it. I agree... you may not have intended to bash, but it sounds that way to me as well. It would have better just to add a +1 for shooters connection and leave it at that. Take your issue up with Chris. I happen to know Chris personally and count him as a friend(he may have another view). I have ordered from him(he is a one man show after all), multiple times. He has never let me down in the slightest.
  15. The extensions are real easy to put on. You unscrew one and put the other one on. For me the hardest part was the cutting of the mag spring. Most people recommended about 12-14 inches longer than the barrel. just know that you need a extension and the barrel nut to get it right. I have never done business with Shooters Connection, but they have a great reputation.
  16. my M1 would hold 4 in the tube with the plug. Doable for a small match, but not ideal. I would order as soon as you can. I ordered my extension from Chris at CPWSA. He has very quick turn around. You need to know how long you want.
  17. i know of one guy that does all the time. 1911's are all that he owns, and never saw the point of changing. I see newer people use what they have as well, then figure out what they need/want to play the game. Those that are out to have fun, shoot what they own. I have never done it, but would with my Trojan and 10 rd mags. Matt
  18. I relocated to Austin, and the shooting is great here. Check out alsppc.com. This is the club that shoots at Austin Rifle Club... you can go to the ARC site and see other competitions there too. I think there is a steel challenge match this Sunday as a matter of fact. From ALSPPC.com you can also sign up for the Texas ipsc list that gives you good info about all the upcoming matches in Texas. Also check out texasmultigun.com for the events that happen at Best of the West in liberty hill. Welcome to the Forum. Matt
  19. What's your budget? Where are you located? I have no issue with letting play with any of my guns if you are local to me. Tanfo mag prices and quality have improved with mecgar mags. Matt
  20. Not sure if your sticking to Glock/XD, but I will throw a different one at you... Tanfoglio/EAA. I started with a g34, and because of my personal preference moved on. I moved on to a Tanfoglio Match then on to a Limited. Great 2011 platform at a reasonable price point, and pretty much run right out of the box. New mag options have made it even better to run them. Both guns really only need a FO front sight. I got a Match for $600, that I shot for a couple years. Dont know what your budget is, but thought I would offer up a different option than discussed here. Matt
  21. Worth every penny in my opinion when you compare it to others that offer the same specs. HD Glass. First Focal plane. Most of the other scopes are over 1K. I have the "T", and I have a buddy that using the "donut". I love mine and it has definitely helped me with mid and long range shooting. I was using a Millet DMS before, if that gives you a frame a reference. Matt
  22. I am glad that i left georgia! Now you have an open gun, that has to be worse. Congrats on the upgrade. Matt
  23. Just started shooting a 9mm Match in 3 gun, and need more than the 17 the factory mags give me. I have a couple questions with regard to getting more out of the new mag with what I have around. I have about 10-12 40/10mm mags all set up as 21 rounders, and wondering if anyone has cannibalized parts to increase a 9mm mag. I have a bunch of H-141 base pads, and I believe I have a h-500 base pad. I also have extra grams followers and 11 coil springs. So has anyone used a H-141 base pad with a grams kit and have it work for more than 17? With this give me 22-23? Am I crazy for thinking about this? Not opposed to buying what I need, but thought if I have it laying around no need to spend extra money. Thanks.
  24. I have a do it yourself craigslist stroller that you are more than welcome to borrow for the match. Just the plain jane with atv hooks to hold a rifle on one side and the shotgun on the other. Let me know. Matt
  25. I wish the owners would sell to someone that wanted to have a successful team. Go out and spend some money and get quality players where they are needed. O line and the receivers would be a great start. Until they spend a little and get players in their primes, they are going no where. Too many people are happy just to go to the game. Cubs are the same way. When you make a ton of money putting a mediocre product out, why take from the profit to make it better. They are not going to make any more money. Same with the Cubs. to my point... where is Greg Olsen? He and Cutler got something going last year. Now he is doing well with Cam Newton. Sucks to be a Bears fan and actually care about W & L. Matt
