  1. That looks to be an older SV mag. Here's a pic of mine with a Taran 4g. They also make a 3g if you want a bit more cushion.
  2. I ran palm swells on mine for a bit and they did indeed help a little. The mag release will still remind you of its presence after shooting for some time though. I may pickup the new S2 style release (or mod mine) to see if that's an improvement.

    TSO

OP: if the hammer drops when the trigger is pulled and the round doesn't fire, I would look towards the primer seating depth and hammer spring as being the likely suspects. If the hammer isn't dropping, suggest you evaluate the pre-travel screw and previously noted.
  4. I just finished installing a wide, strong hand (left side) safety only and removing my ambi safety. For me this provides a better grip/hold on the gun. If you're shooting USPSA, you will never have to start a stage with the pistol in your weak hand, so no real need to have a safety on the weak side.
  5. Amen to that. Literally just got done fitting a single-sided safety to my SV,, as the right side ambi dug into the knuckle of my strong (right) hand.
  6. Darnit, I wanted an excuse to drop that word into a sentence.
  7. I'm going by what SV sent me, which may allow room for interpretation. I thought it was odd also, that the frame and slide serrations did not match. No mention of the mismatch from SV when they replied. From SV: Pistol serial number XXX was manufactured as a 40S&W Pistol in October 2005. Unfortunately, we do not have the original build sheets for this pistol. However provided are basic specs based from your photos: 5 inch Carbon Steel Blued Pistol 20 lpi Slide Serration Xcelerator Frame Serrations Stippled Polymer Grip Flat Red Trigger Insert Square Hammer
  8. Great video, thanks for sharing @regor
  9. Don't see much mention of Kimbers in this thread. what's the general consensus on the Target II or the Custom TLE/RL II?
  10. Lugged 50#'ish of bullets my postal dude/dudette left on my porch, down to the reloading room in the basement. Between bullets and brass, I really need to leave my postal peeps a gift card (or two) again this year.
  11. You guys are killing me :) I love the TSO, Looks like I will wait till next season, shoot the 2011s and decide then which to sell.
  12. Coming from the CZ world, I found my way in to 2 very nice 2011 pistols, to try out the 2011 platform. First one is a Brazos tuned STI Edge and the other is an older SV (made by SV, not a parts gun) both are used and run flawlessly. I'm considering selling one of them, as I don't see the need to keep both considering that I still have my CZ TSO as a backup if needed. Any thoughts/suggestions on which would be the best to keep? I've run about 1000 rounds through each pistol with no issues, so I believe either would work as a primary USPSA limited pistol.
  13. Dude, that's one hell of a deal. I'd grab a holster (several options already shared) and shoot in a match or two, before buying too much stuff for it. It's a pretty righteous production pistol out of the box.
  14. If factory loads fit your budget and time allocation, roll with them, especially with the price of ammo relatively low. If you have a pistol that doesn't like factory ammo bullet profile or overall length (think CZ for OAL concerns) you may be a candidate for rolling your own. Same is true once demand catches up (more inventory than demand currently) with factory loaded ammunition inventories. Finally, I find reloading a great hobby that challenges one, when developing new loads and testing new component configurations. Think of it as an almost endless game of 'what if', should you so choose.
  15. Thanks for the feedback Grumpy. I'll take a closer look at the FP hole.
  16. This 'anomaly' is specific to one particular pistol, which leads me to believe it's a difference with this gun. The other guns (similar barrel length) spit out the normal, boring, standard dimple.
  17. These are relatively low velocity rounds (168-172 PF) so I'm not worried about over pressure. Just trying to understand the mechanics that are creating these marks on the spent primers. Almost as if there's a force pushing from inside the case, removing the typical primer dimple. Notice how the three primers in the center are flat, with almost no 'dimple'? What would cause this? Ignore the different primers in the pic, I'm seeing this on both the S&B (brass) and CCI (silver) primers.
  18. Very interesting design/concept. He's using a leaf spring to positively hold the case as it rotates through the stations. In theory by not allowing the case to move during transit, there's less powder spillage when running the press like a drunken sailor (stole that one from KA) so you're able to load those 9mm major cases quicker without spilling powder everywhere.
  19. If that's $110/shiped per 5 thousand, that isn't half bad. I'm guessing these are winchester SPPs. Although I still prefer CCI and S&B over winnies
  20. It's not that kind of spring. Bending it slightly might help.
  21. I picked up a few packs of the Fiocchi primers (from Grafs) for the equivalent of $24/1000 (they come in packs of 1500) along with some powder to play with 9 Major this winter. Hoping the Fiocchi are as good as their east block cousins S&B.
  22. If you're saving $2K off list, you're buying essentially a $1300 CM. At that price, if you don't like it, there is zero chance you'll lose money when you decide to sell it.
  23. I took advantage of the primers that were on sale at Grafs and picked up a pound each of: 3N38 Shooters World Major Pistol WAC Accurate #7 I'm looking forward to loading up some test rounds and trying out this 9 Major stuff!
