  1. 147s are going to be a bit more difficult to load for the new reloader as they are seated deeper, plus you're shooting a CZ, which typically like shorter OAL. I'd start with 115, 124 or 135 gr. BBI is great place to get coated bullets, lots of others out there also. If you are able to pop factory primers, no need to go with the softer Federal. Use what's available and cheap. Spend some time checking your first reloads to ensure they plunk/spin in your barrel and document the dimensions. If you don't do this, make sure you have a kinetic puller to fix your mistakes. One final note, quite a few new reloaders spend too much time chasing the holy grail of soft, flat shooting reloads. Trust me, on the clock you won't be able to notice the difference between 125 and 130 PF. So don't get too hung up on creating the ultimate bunny fart load.
  2. ^^ Yep that's where my money is also
  3. You'll need to order the right block by looking at the pictures of the trigger guard provided. The CM and TSO have changed trigger guard design a few times
  4. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the CZ and 9Major load Tom. Interested in your decision process for selecting the powder. Did you test any other powders or is this what was handy? I'm currently performing load development with AA7, 3N38, WAC and the Lovex powder marketed my Shooters World as Major Pistol and for the moment tend to lean towards WAC.
  5. Keep in mind that Dawson and CZ measure front sights from different reference points. You cannot to go CZ's website, write down the listed height of the sight and order that height from Dawson.

    TSO 40SW Rear Sight

Yep, that's my 'custom' work there. I didn't break it again Yigal, I replaced it with the fixed TS rear sight.
  7. Completely agree Rowdy. I have worked in the health sciences industry for close to 20 years and can tell folks that precision scales are very, very expensive. You can't judge a scale by the number of decimal places it displays, if the numbers beyond 1st/2nd decimal place are not accurate and repeatable. For our (reloaders) quality scales, most of the time these numbers are just 'noise' and therefore essentially meaningless.

    TSO 40SW Rear Sight

Yep, you'll want to go taller if memory serves me correct. Since CZ-USA doesn't sell a factory TSO with fixed rear and fiber front, I had to get mine from Dawsons. They don't have a direct match, but you can get close. Factory TS .40 front sight: 7.4mm (.291") Dawson .195 T sight: 7.2mm (.284") Dawson .215 T sight: 7.8mm (.308")

    TSO 40SW Rear Sight

You could do this: Or just get the fixed rear sight used on the TS, from CZ-USA. that's how I have my TSO setup. As an added bonus you can use it as a slide racker in a pinch
  10. Although you are not competing at this point, there are some things you can do to make your shooting a bit more entertaining. For example, get a timer and see how quickly you can put 5/10 rounds on target. Once you can do this consistently in a given amount of time, set the timer to 'par time' and try to make the same shots in .5 to 1 sec quicker. Effectively this is a form of a bill drill, however you're only 'competing' with yourself. Another practice exercise I do is set 2-3 paper plates on the target rack and then see how quickly I can double tap all 3, while keeping my shots near the center. At the end of the day, it's about going out and having fun with your new STI.
  11. OP- it's #3 in the parts diagram SP01_9MM.pdf

    Red dot for TSO

The TSO and TS can share rear sights. Looks like the CZC optic plate will drop in.
  13. Easier to update trigger on the safety model, than the decocker one. I shot a SP01 (safety model) and GP X-Cal in production for a year. You get used to easing the hammer down on a live round, never felt the need for a decocker.
  14. Personally, it's a non-issue for me, as I reload all cases (that meet spec) regardless of headstamp. Now this particular thread was created to explore/define how to sort cases via headstamps. While unnecessary for me, it is an interesting idea, considering my background is in industrial automation and controls. It seems there are some competitors that wish to sort cases by headstamp, this thread is for them.
  15. While interesting, that doesn't really help us dunderheads here at ground zero
  16. There are 'extra power' springs available that will make the safety engagement/disengagement more positive; google it you'll see several write-ups about this topic
  17. Factory is fine for punching paper I run 11# in my .40 and 10# in my 9th for competition
  18. @Palmaris Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your TSO mods. Interested to know what you made the recoil spring plug from? Looks almost like it was turned on a lathe. I use the factory plastic one that came with mine, but would be interested in something different. I don't use the recoil buffers in either my 9mm or .40 S&W TSOs. I chrono'd my 9mm loads at ~133-135 PF and my .40s at ~170-175. Even with a light recoil spring I haven't found a need for the buffers. Who knows, I may regret doing this down the road, however for now the fewer things to go wrong the better. P.S. I wouldn't stress about English not being your native tongue. There are native speakers that can really butcher the language, but we accept them all.
  19. CZC and springer both work fine with CZ and CZC magwells. Factory TS mags is almost flush with CZ magwell. You won't be able to fully insert a standard TS mag into a CZC magwell with the palm of your hand, the bottom of the mag sits inside the magwell.
  20. congrats! I installed the CGW bushing on my SP01 and was very impressed with the accuracy and barrel to slide fit. Unfortunately the SP01 sits in the safe most days, now that I have purchased a couple of TSOs.
  21. could be me, but I'm not seeing any pictures from the 'original post' in this thread.
  22. I realize you've been fighting this issue for some time and understand the problem backwards/forwards, however for those of us seeing this for the first time, only seeing 'tilting 9mm case' in the title doesn't really provide a good description of what the issue is and where it's occurring in your rig.
  23. When I had a S2 I ordered my holster from RHT. Fit was perfect
  24. Holy necro post batman. Hope the OP didn't wait 3 years for that tidbit of info
