  1. Update Had a chance to shoot a Brazos STI Edge and SV (both in .40) yesterday. While both shot fine, neither was head/shoulders above the TSO in terms of accuracy or ergonomics. Although the STI mags were tuned by Brazos (grams followers/base pads) some of the mags would only hold 19 rounds. The factory SV mags only hold 18. So +1 for CZ consistency relative to mags. No 'tuning' required and with grams followers/springs + CZC base pads, without a doubt you'll get 20 rounds, reloadable. I also found that the STI didn't like my short (1.13) OAL that I run in my CZs. Sometimes the first round would jam directly into the feed ramp and stop. So I loaded up some new cartridges at 1.17 OAL and plan to test them today. Finally, I chrono'd both pistols using the ammo I normally shoot in the CZ. The SV chrono'd about the same as the TSO (170-172 PF), the STI was a hair less at 168-170 PF. I didn't change the powder drop when I adjusted the OAL for today's test, so it will be interesting to see how much the PF drops as a result of increasing the OAL.
  2. Wow, you have definitely immersed yourself in this, which I was 1/2 as talented . Thanks for sharing!!
  3. Here's a thumb rest that @Redfox (don't start hitting on him guys, he's not that kind of 'fox' :) ) ginned up. Looks pretty darn good if you ask me and the checkering is a nice touch and functional. The pedal is positioned much better (for me) than the factory one.
  4. Thanks for the confirmation telligent. This is what I expected and much more rationale that comment from the CZ rep, about a special run with custom fitted mag releases. Although the Cole Fox CSM could have been a bit more clear when comparing the new TSO mag release to the S2. 'It is the same design/style' would have been a better choice of words, than it's the same as the S2 and will drop in. Anywho, looks like we need to keep an eye on the spare parts department at CZ-USA
  5. @vrwm Appears to be older stock as it has the original TS trigger guard, however mag release and safety are same as previous year TSOs. What year is stamped on the right side of the slide?
  6. And yet another vote for this place. I picked up a sample pack of different colors (including violet and yellow, which I haven't tried yet) in both of the standard diameters.
  7. @TerryYu Would you mind sharing what printer and software you're using? That rapid prototyping with a 3D printer looks pretty fun.
  8. Just so there's no misunderstandings, the new TSO has the S2 'style' mag release installed at the factory. However it is not the Shadow 2 mag release. If you aren't comfortable drilling/tapping the mag release to add the S2 pad, wait a bit and these will be available as drop in replacement parts.
  9. The Shadow 2 mag release is too narrow for a TS mag to be inserted inside the 'U" of the mag release. I have personally installed the S2 mag release and learned this first hand. The S2 mag release fits inside the larger TS frame, however the TS mag doesn't come close to fully seating. OTOH, standard CZ75 mags insert and lock in place just fine, although the mag well is too large for this to be done in a competition setting.
  10. I use it with a Dillon 650. No idea how Hornady primers are introduced. If it's a similar design, should be OK. To load a 650, you use the VP to load the mag tube, remove the mag tube from the VP unit (1/2 turn twist) and line up the bottom (where the cotter key is) of the VP tube with the 650 primer tube and lastly remove the cotter key.
  11. OP- consider a CZ Tactical Sport in .40. It is ready to shoot limited out of the box. May want to upgrade the mags if you prefer 20 to the factory 17s. The SAO trigger is <2#s from the factory, so you'll save some $$ in parts there. It does have a rather robust grip, so be sure to handle one before purchasing. At ~$1050 new, these are a pretty good deal!
  12. Oh I knew what you were wanting, just funning with you, while at the same time providing a viable alternate (tap your existing MR for the S2 one) to what you're wanting. Now don't go yelling at us about PMs, that was a different (necro BTW) thread on mag releases that you resurrected today. Now in all seriousness, with the TSO shipping with the new mag releases, I suspect it will be some time before the parts department start shipping spares. Perhaps post a WTB thread in the FS forum to see if any new TSO buyer prefers the older mag release. I haven't seen any pics of TSOs shipping with a black mag release paddle. If you want one, they can be ordered from CZ-USA for $30 ($5 cheaper than ordering the entire assembly) . Oh, and welcome to the forum! Lots of great guys and knowledge here, hope you stick around and get to know some of the folks.
  13. They are in stock at CZC. You'll get a TSO along with the new mag release ? If you aren't the waiting kind, a fella over on the CZ website drilled and tapped the previous design TS/TSO mag release for the S2 insert.
  14. It is the S2 design, however not the same part. Shadow 2 frame is narrower than TSO, TSO mags won't fit in the S2 mag release....I tried Here's a pic of the new TSO from the CZC website
  15. If you're doing load development, I'd suggest getting a chrono. This will allow you to load whichever bullet weight you want and tailor the load to your pistol and shooting preference/needs. Entry level chronos (don't need a fancy one for what you're doing ) are easily <$100
  16. Sounds like quite a bit of work has been expended to get the CM to run like the owner likes. Wondering if this is the norm or an outlier?
  17. Hi Steve, which type of checkering (cast/coarse or fine) and trigger guard (thin/thick) did you receive.
  18. Fellow TSO shooter at my local clubs did this (not sure of dimensions of starting material) and it turned out rather nice. I'm waiting for him to make more refinements to his design so I can shamelessly have his discards.
  19. Either that or you had the misses in your ear distracting you.?
  20. Really? OP- really isn't much to the mag release. You could disassemble the pistol and see if there's anything binding. Alternatively do a few thumb presses ;0
  21. I understand where you're coming from, however there are limitations/exceptions. While working up some test loads for 200gr .40S&W, I learned that at the same PF, my 200gr load needed a stronger recoil spring to bring the slide fully into battery. I'm chalking this up to the slower slide speed (although PF was the same) from the 200gr bullet. Changing the 11# recoil spring to a 13# one fixed the issue. Aside from this, I think your other comments/feedback are pretty much spot on. Oh and welcome to the forum!!
  22. Well I've got a 2011 on the way. Let's see which one (CZ or 2011) goes up for sale next year
  23. Are you able to pick up the S&Bs at $23/1000 any more? I haven't found them at this price for quite some time....maybe 8-10 months.
  24. I decided to pick up a used 2011, practice this winter and shoot it next season. If I like the 2011 platform over the CZ, I'll go the 2011 route for Open. If not, I'll be getting a CZ CM. I've been spoiled (or so I'm told) by the reliability of the CZ TS/O platform. These things just run, no tweaking or mag tuning required. Let's see how the 2011 treats me.
