  1. The longer OAL explains why you're using more powder than I am. Interested to see how you like this load. In addition to this powder, I'm also testing AA#7 and WAC. Once I get these loads dialed in, I'll be looking to compare feel and dot bounce for each.

@stuey93 the two conditions you mention (delayed ignition and dead trigger) are very different and have different potential causes. Delayed ignition, or hang fire is when the hammer drops on a live round, however the round doesn't fire immediately and fires after a short delay. This is often ammo specific and if this is your issue, I'd start by testing different ammunition in this pistol. Dead trigger, as I am interpreting your comment, it is pulling the trigger and the hammer doesn't drop. If this is the case, it's likely not ammo related (unless a cartridge is too long and prevents the slide from going into battery) and I'd start the investigation by closely looking at the mechanics of your pistol. If the malfunction is happening intermittently, it's going to be tough to isolate, however removing each potential variable, one at a time will get you there eventually. Good Luck!
  3. @clw42 curious to know what your OAL is and what pistol you're using. I've spent the last few days doing load development for 9major and one of my loads is very similar to what you posted. I'm using RMR 124JHPs, over 9.5gr of major pistol powder with CCI SPP. I'm running an OAL length of ~1.10 and shooting these from a Czechmate. This gets me to ~171PF. Seems you're needing more powder to get there, so I'm guessing you might have a pistol with some poppel holes in the barrel or maybe a longe OAL. BTW, the profile of the RMR doesn't allow for a very long OAL in my czechmate. I have 124 PDs (JHP) and Bayou (coated) 124s that allow me to load longer than the RMRs.
  4. I think you're on the right track Sarge. Hard to tell from the pic, but the mag body is indeed a dull, matte finish as compared to standard STI mags. Thanks for the insight! Here's a picture of this mag next to a 'standard' STI
  5. Received this mag along with a used Edge I picked up recently. I have not seen this design mag body before so more of a curiosity than anything else, wanting to learn a bit more about it.
  6. Thanks for sharing! While you're at it drop a m4 in the mail to me. Just teasing, at that price, I'm going to order one of the assortments on Amazon
  7. Once I have a load configuration dialed in, I load a thousand or so into bulk containers. I perform a verification of OAL and case gauge on 3-5 rounds, when I start and periodically every 200 or so rounds. Since I use this ammo for both practice and matches I don't inspect/gauge every round when I am loading. Before a match, I'll pull the needed rounds from this inventory and case gauge each of them before putting them in the cases.
  8. Maybe not 'crazy', but definitely not necessary, unless your matches are several thousand rounds. My local matches tend to be 120-150 rounds. Seems a little excessive to be pulling things apart after only a box or two of ammo. But hey, your toy, do what you wish.
  9. I agree with the above comments. I'm in the process of working up some 9mm Major loads and noticed that the RMR JHPs need to be seated much deeper than PDs. For my CZ Czechmate, the RMRs would plunk/spin free at 1.09, but 1.1 or 1.11 they started to 'stick' a bit. I'm going to chrono what I have loaded, however I think there are better choices of projectiles for 9mm major.
  10. Not sure I'm understanding the implied cause/effect relationship. The hardness/softness of the primer material should not be affecting the velocity/power of the bullet, or is it? If two primers produced the same velocity load, what difference does it make what the primer 'looks like' (within reason) provided it doesn't deform to the extent it causes other issues? Just curious, not wanting to derail the thread or start an argument. BTW, I use SPP mostly CCI and S&B for production and limited. I have some Winchester SPPs but they don't seem to play nice with my vibraprime unit.
  11. My understanding is the the stock 9mm followers tend to rub the mag body part of way down, causing what you saw.
  12. Check the mags and see if there's some debris or build up in the notch that activates the slide lock. Not a lot of things would force the slide lock up, except the mag or your hands. Out of spec follower could do it, but since these have worked previously, they aren't changing shape/dimensions magically
  13. My brother, if I had coin- I'd have 12 vestal virgins reloading for me; using virgin, never fired brass of course.
  14. Have you thought about trying a different profile/weight bullet? If that's all you have, what's the harm in loading a few up and running them across a chrono.

You'll know if the reset is working if you're able to drop the hammer after a reset. Try this: Rack the slide, pull the trigger and hold the trigger in the rearward position Rack the slide again while still pinning the trigger to the rear Release the trigger (reset) and try to pull the trigger again If the hammer falls the trigger is resetting, if not you need to adjust, rinse and repeat. Good luck! It isn't easy, but it is fun and educational Edited to add that you can do the above with the slide off (which you'll need to remove to get to the reset screw) however you'll need to use a punch/pin to manually move the trigger bar back and down. Once you think you've got it adjusted right, you'll want to perform a full function test with the slide installed, as skyjumper found out.
  16. Another vote for getting a TS or TSO over a Tanfo. Of course, look around at the forum this question is posted in Although my CZs are jealous because I recently picked up a 2011, I still have love for the TS/TSO platform; out of shear reliability and predictably if nothing else.
  17. Good comments/suggestions everyone. You've convinced me to backup the 2011 with another 2011. So if I end up keeping the 2011s, my CZs may go on the chopping block. Looking forward to next season!

    TSO

Too little over travel (lots of threads showing behind trigger) and your hammer won't fall. Back out the screw 1/4 to 1/2 turn and loctight. Too little pre-travel and your trigger will not reset. I.e. 'click' when you let off the trigger after firing @skyjumper if you're having intermittent failure of the hammer to fall when the trigger is pulled (assuming the trigger reset) then you need to back out the over travel screw a tad.
  19. I prefer fixed sights. No chance of them shifting or breaking. BTW, I've had 2 adjustable sights (came on factory CZ TSO .40) break on me and had the nut that captures the left/right adjustment screw on the kensight/bomar type sight fall off during a major match, resulting in the notch part of the sight sliding to the extreme right. Now I put some locktite on that nut and check before every match.
  20. One minor rub with keeping the SV. A couple of the STI mags don't fit in the SV as they are too long front to back. All the SV mags fit in the STI. So if I keep the SV, I either need to buy some more mags or try and tune/grind the STI mags. Not really wanting to do this, because the 4 STI mags came tuned (and numbered) by Brazos.
  21. Different base pads too, however this wouldn't impact functionality of the mag release.
  22. Value could very, depending upon them fitting in the mag block or not

    CZ TSO Holster

I have the RHT and DAA holsters. Neither one is holding me back from making M-class :) Because of the back/forth in trigger guard design from CZ, double check which one you have (suggest looking at pics, not manf. date) and order accordingly.
  24. I'd find a buddy that has 3g or 4g TTIs (Taran) or spend $30 and buy one to test. Pretty sure that will fix the gauge issue.
