  1. I hope your "Field Courses" are Fat-Old-Guy Friendly...and me without my "Nuclear Nikes", too... ....mikey357
  2. So, Paul...where we gonna' eat?!?!... ....mikey357
  3. Lunch? LUNCH?!?! Did someone say "Lunch"??? I LIKES Lunch!!!... ....mikey357
  4. I "Parted Ways" with my 627 .38 Super about six months ago...bought it two years ago, NIB, for $999...figure I got about $1400 for the gun, and another $300 for the case of Federal American Eagle .38 Super "Ball" ammo that went with it. The gun was "NIB" when I got it, and went out the same way...FWIW, I actually got a nice S&W 360, a pretty nice five-inch 686 "Plus"--a "Built-Up Gun", though, not an original--and $800 in cash for the 627 and case of ammo...I THINK I did okay....mikey357
  5. Funny you mention Dan Mitchell...MANY years ago, I used to shoot some Skeet with him here in GA! I know he's now more "Into" Sporting Clays...I wonder if he ever made the switch from a being one-eyed shooter--which WAS the way he shot Skeet--to being a TWO-eyed shooter??? Just curious....mikey357
  6. hhmmm...I didn't know that the trigger bar was different on the 17L and 24...what ARE the difference???...TIA....mikey357
  7. Yeah, and those cagey "Eye-Talians" make some pretty nice SHOTGUNS, too...just wish I could AFFORD one!!!....mikey357
  8. NICE-lookin' "Blasters"! Let us know how the Tripp magazines work...it would be NICE to have an alternative to the "Ramped" Metalforms...and an EXTRA round never hurt, either!....mikey357
  9. ...speaking of Brownells'...the "Discount" price on the STI rear sight is about $12-13 LESS than the similar "Discount" pricing on the VERY SIMILAR Caspian OR Ed Brown units...FWIW....mikey357
  10. IF I'm not mistaken, Dawson makes an adjustable rear sight to fit the Kimbers with OEM fixed rear sights...a LOT cheaper than machining the slide!!!...HTH....mikey357
  11. AustinMike, hope Lucy's recovery continues to go well....Eric, did you get YOURSELF checked out after the incident??? If not, do so ASAP, man!....mikey357
  12. DOOHHH!!! I HATE it when that happens!!!... ....mikey357
  13. Hhmmm...wonder if a "17L-SF" would fit in "The Box"???...Hhmmm... ....mikey357
  14. When I was but a YOUNG BOY--back in the Stone Age, IF anyone asks--it was explained to me that you can USUALLY pick up another man's RIFLE and, ASSUMING it is "Zeroed" correctly, make pretty good hits with it...but that this was MORE DIFFICULT to do with the PISTOL because there are more VARIABLES affecting POI with the handgun, i.e., grip pressure, hand size, stance, upper body strength, EYESIGHT, etc.--so that "Zeroing" a handgun was an INDIVIDUAL thing... If you doubt this, find a copy of "Cooper on Handguns", and look at the section where the good Colonel shows targets HE shot superimposed on targets that Ray Chapman shot, with the SAME GUN and ammo...considerably DIFFERENT POI between the two esteemed shooters, BOTH of whom were, at the time the targets were fired, true MASTERS of the Handgun... I guess where I am going with this is that I am SICK AND TIRED of everyone telling people whose Handguns print "Low, Left" out-of-the-box that THEY, the SHOOTER, are somehow DEFFICIENT...kinda' like diagnosing an ILLNESS "Long-Distance", over the internet...it MIGHT be a HEART ATTACK, but it COULD BE just HEARTBURN... IF you shoot nice, round groups, and IF you don't have an unusually high number of "WTF is THAT one WAY out there for?" kinda' shots, then you should probably MOVE your sights so that the POI coincides with the POA..."Zeroing" the gun for YOU... RANT mode OFF... ....mikey357
  15. Hhmmm...COULD BE my IMAGINATION, but on Midway's website, it LOOKS LIKE the illustration for the Champion sight and the STI sight are EXACTLY the SAME...hhmmm....mikey357
  16. WHO SAYS it's NOT PRETTY?!?! Them's FIGHTIN' WORDS!!!...or, as Clint Smith is fond of saying, "Wheel Guns are REAL Guns"!!!... ....mikey357
  17. Yeah, I AM "Lucky"...and have about eight and a half acres to "Play With"...here's what the "Backyard Range" looks like during the SUMMER months... ...kinda' NEAT, Huh???... ....mikey357
  18. Tony, I THINK I have one somewhere...IF you want to TRY it, I can meet you at the "Usual Place" sometime this week, and let you try it...THEN we'll talk PRICE!!!... ....mikey357
  19. I recently picked up a "Slightly Used" Model 327 "Tactical Response Revolver"...an INTERESTING "Beast", to say the least! I have made a few OBSERVATIONS, and come to a few CONCLUSIONS, as well...The gun came to me with an "Apex Tactical" Level II "Action Job", and Randy's "Skeletonized" Apex Hammer...QUITE NICE! It "Runs" 100% for me with Federal "American Eagle" ammo with the DA set at 6 lbs., even...I THINK I can "Shave" another 1/4 to 1/2 lb. off that, when I have a chance to "Play With" it a lil' more...most of the two weeks I had the gun before the "Steel Match" two weeks ago was dedicated to getting it "Set Up" to run 100% with my "Match" ammo, changing out the grips, sights and getting it sighted in...lotsa' FUN to "Wring Out" a new one! In my "Playing Around" with it in the backyard--I am fortunate to have enough space for a "Plate Rack" and a coupla' half-scale "Poppers" back there--I THOUGHT that MAYBE I had made a MISTAKE...that, MAYBE, the 327 was too LIGHT for "Steel"...well, if so, it sure didn't seem that way on Saturday, during our Match! I shot the second-best "Revo" score I ever have, and other than sighting in the 327, hadn't had any "Revo" practice in about six or seven weeks! I guess going from the eight-pound DA of my 686 "Pluses" to the six-pound DA on the 327 MIGHT account for SOME of my "Good Luck"--ya' think?!?! The gun was "Different" enough that four of my squadmates shot up all of my "Extra" ammo--about a box-and-a-half--after we were done, and before "Tearing Down" the Steel to put it back in the barn. One of my YOUNGER Squadmates--he's 16, maybe 17--decided he wants a 327 for Christmas--just hasta' decide between the "TRR" and the "M&P"...oh, yeah...AND talk DAD into paying for it! Dad was kinda' SKEPTICAL, until HE shot it...left a SMILE on HIS face, too... Seems like that gun--and Randy's AMAZING work--does that to a LOT of people...I know I'M SMILING about it right now... Anyway, I have decided that I'll be sending Randy a coupla' guns for more "Work"...SOONER rather than LATER, IF I can talk the Missus into it... I have also concluded that there IS a difference in the "Moonclips" that are available for the 627/327...MUCHO difference, in fact...the "Run-of-the-mill" 'clips that I purchased from Brownell's worked semi-okay with Remington brass--some were EASY to load/unload, some KINDA' hard...but they didn't want to work AT ALL with Federal brass--go figure! The TK Custom "Match" 'clips, OTOH, worked FINE with either the Rem. OR Federal brass...again, go figure! I have NOT had the chance to try any of Hearthco's "Premium" 'clips YET, but intend to, WHEN the BUDGET will STAND it! FWIW... ....mikey357
  20. Paul, is your ICORE Match going to be the SECOND Saturday of each month??? Let me know...THANKS!!!....mikey357
  21. As Spook said, this shows up in LOTS of S&W revolvers, IF your "Trigger Finger" is SENSITIVE enuff...it is a well-known phenomenon to the old-time PPC shooters and gunbuilders...it occurs because when you pull the trigger RIGHT-handed, you are pulling the trigger--and therefore the HAND--TOWARDS the ratchets on the extractor/cylinder ass'y, and when you are pulling the trigger LEFT-handed, you are pulling the trigger--and therefore the hand--AWAY from the ratchets...gotta' have SOME "Tolerance" between the hand, trigger, handslot in the frame, etc., or NOTHING would "Move", right???...all this was explained to me by Lou Ciamillo, charter member of the "APG", and a HELL of a PPC gun builder...FWIW....mikey357
  22. PMD, that 617 is TOO COOL!!! I'm curious...whose mount did you use for the C-More??? TIA....mikey357
  23. John, how did this "Shake Out"??? TIA....mikey357
  24. Tony, my ten-year-old S&W Parts booklet shows part # 260290000 as "Cylinder Ass'y., CH, New Style" for the six-shot Model 627...HTH....mikey357
  25. John is USUALLY a VERY NICE guy, but...I think Chris has it comin', at least in THIS CASE. I know a lil' bit about this "Saga"...as he said, John needed the Kydex stuff for his son's "Shooting Camp" in LA w/Jerry and Kay Miculek, and a coupla' people suggested he use Chris, as his products ARE very good. After being ASSURED by Chris over the 'phone that the product COULD BE delivered "In Time", only THEN did John place his order...Other than the $$$, this story has a "Good Ending", I suppose...John was able to "Beg/Borrow/Steal"--well, not STEAL-- --some decent-quality stuff locally, and the Son's trip to "Shootin' Camp" worked out DESPITE Mr. Stewart's NEGLIGENCE. You go get 'em, John!!!....mikey357
