  1. ...already looked there...didn't SEE any results...if I missed it, I'd appreciate it if you'd "Direct" me to where the results were...Thanks!....mikey357
  2. Coupla' "Local Guys" made the trek down to Titusville this weekend to shoot the "Steel National"...anybody know any RESULTS yet? It would be appreciated....mikey357
  3. ...1981, I believe...but I've been wrong before...just ask my WIFE!!!... ....mikey357
  4. COOL!!!...I'll be lookin' out for THAT...and THANKS for getting to the Question so FAST....mikey357
  5. THANKS for answering my Question! Now, I've come up with ANOTHER...Don'tcha' just LOVE Questions???...I REALLY LIKE the .100-in. width Front Sight with the .125-in. wide "Factory" rear sight notch on FOUR-INCH guns...seems like I see a lil' TOO MUCH "Light" on either side of the front sight when using the .100-in. wide Front Sight on LONGER Barrels, so... Have you given any thought to making the Front Sight Blades with an "Intermediate" Width--like .110 in. to .115 in.??? That'd be the "Cat's Meow"--at least FOR ME--on Five-inch to Six-and-a-half inch barrels, when used with the "Factory" width rear sight notch(es). Thanks!....mikey357
  6. "From the Bench", huh? Are you perhaps "Riding the Reset" of the trigger on shots number two and later? If so, try letting the trigger come all the way FORWARD for EACH SHOT, and see if that makes any difference...ya' NEVER know....mikey357
  7. Cliff, how many of the "Silver Bullets" were consumed at "Dave's Supreme Gunsmithing World Headquarters" during your "Work Session" on the Firing Pin Problem??? Was it enough to ENSURE the QUALITY of work that needed to be done???... ...I sure HOPE so... ...Good Luck this weekend...I won't be there, unfortunately..."Two-Gun" Tony and I will be over in A-Gusta, GA, "Duking It Out" with the LOCALS...Later....mikey357
  8. I plan on being there as well...an' maybe Paul788 has something to say 'bout "Two-Gun Tony" winning BOTH Divisions???... ....mikey357 If we have a low turn out (good possibility) you could shoot both guns . That way you will come away with two wins instead of one.

  10. I've been "Playing" with 1100's for a lil' better'n thirty years...got my first one before I graduated High School, back in the "Prehistoric Past"... FWIW, ALL my 1100's that were not/are not "Magnum" guns will "Run" very well with "Low Brass" Target Loads, I.E., 2 & 3/4 Dram, 1 & 1/8 oz. shot... Over the years, I've discovered that SOME 1100's like to run "Wet", I.E., with LOTS of LUBE, and some like to run "Dry", or with little to no lubrication...my first 1100--a mid-to-late 70's "Skeet B"--runs great with little to no lube...but it LIKES to be cleaned every 500-700 shells or so, otherwise, it gets BALKY... ' I have another 1100 of about the same age--also a 2 & 3/4 inch gun, 28'' Mod. barrel--that will run almost FOREVER with a coating of "Breakfree CLP" or "Remoil" wiped onto the outside of the Mag. tube...but try to run it DRY, and it'll "Choke" in the first 50-75 shells fired after a cleaning... I guess 1100's are kinda' like some WOMEN I have known--some are "Higher Maintenance" than others, and it ALWAYS PAYS to PAY ATTENTION to the one you're with!!!...HTH....mikey357
  11. As far as the "Budget" .22's go, it is hard to beat either the Ruger MKII/MKIII or the Browning Buckmark...I see plenty of both at our local Monthly Matches... As long as the guns are kept reasonably CLEAN, correctly lubricated--not to MUCH, not too LITTLE--and GOOD quality ammo is used, they just seem to RUN...and RUN...and RUN... Only "Knocks" on the Ruger, AFAIK, is that they ALMOST ALWAYS can stand to have a "Trigger Job" done on 'em, and SOMETIMES the Factory EXTRACTOR is kinda' WIMPY...IF the Extractor issue pops up, the replacement from Volquartsen works GREAT... HTH....mikey357
  12. CONGRATS, Tony! Looks like all that PRACTICE is paying off! Yeah, you DEFINITELY need to shoot "Open"--and ONLY "Open"--at the AGS ICORE MATCH!!!... ....mikey357
  13. I shoot my 627's and 686's more than my 625's, but my "Solution" would be equally applicable to ANY "Wheelie"...I ALWAYS carry a SPARE GUN!!!...FWIW... This goes back to a time when I made an hour-and-a-half trip to the only INDOOR range in our area at the time--to "Sight In" a NEW Ruger MKII "Government Target"--only to have the firing pin BREAK on the TENTH SHOT...the only OTHER gun I had with me was my carry piece, which I didn't want to GET DIRTY...a LONG car ride home, feeling VERY UNSATISFIED convinced me to NEVER leave the house with LESS than TWO GUNS for ANY trip to the range...HTH....mikey357
  14. Tony: Yeah, I SEEM to be recovering--albeit SLOWLY--from the "Creeping Upper Respiratory Crud"...kinda' LOOKIN' FORWARD to ICORE...I might even DRIVE...now THERE'S a SCARY thought!!!...I thought you were gonna' be "Out of Town", or maybe it was "Packin' Your Bags" that weekend???...Let me know....mikey357 You up for Augusta on the 21st?
  15. ...and the CROWD Chants..."Tony Shoot OPEN!"..."Tony Shoot OPEN!"..."Tony Shoot OPEN!"...and the Crowd goes WILD!!!... ....mikey357
  16. ...reminds me of a "Carpenter's Helper" I worked with one Summer while in College..."I've cut it THREE TIMES, and it's STILL TOO SHORT"!!!... ....mikey357
  17. ...here's a question I didn't see...on the .100-inch wide front sights...are they "Stepped" in width, so that they'll correctly fit the "Classic"-style front sight bases (or the front sight bases for the "Pin-In" style that are ALREADY set up for the conventional .125-in. width, for that matter?)? Thanks....mikey357
  18. Mark, the OTHER prices there were nothing to "Write Home About"...now, how come I did NOT know you were lookin' for a Model 14? I just happen to have... ....mikey357
  19. ...I guess that was a DECENT price, but...looks to me like the Hammer is FORGED, and maybe the Trigger is MIM...and the Front Sight doesn't look "Stock", either...makes me a lil' SUSPICIOUS...but then, you don't see 625's "For Sale" every day...BTW, Josh, I'm STILL LOOKIN'... ....mikey357
  20. If it was me, I'd go with either a 686 or a Model 19 or 66, which can still be found on the "Used/Trade-In" market...I just seem to shoot the K- and L-frame "Snubbies" better than I do the N-frame Snubs...FWIW....mikey357"
  21. What Kevin C says about the GLOCK dovetail being "Pinched" in the middle is correct...I prefer to "Work" on the SIGHT, rather than the SLIDE...always "Cut" on the CHEAPEST part, if possible...coupla' passed with a MILL BASTARD File on the bottom of the sight "Base", and you're usually "Good-to-Go"... Another reason to NOT modify the dovetail in the slide is that you may want to install another set of sights at some time in the future...either the stock GLOCK sights--altho' I don't know WHY--or another set, maybe by a different aftermarket maker, that fits "Looser" in the dovetail than the first set...if you've "Cut" on the dovetail, then where are ya'???...HTH....mikey357
  22. ...for some more "Good Deals" on used PD Trade-ins, check with Mark at "Summit Gun Broker"..."Google" it, and it'll take you right to his website...HTH....mikey357
  23. "Low C"...that's the OPPOSITE of "Hi C", right???...or, does it stand for "Low C(lass)"??? Inquiring minds want to KNOW!!!... ....mikey357
  24. Mike: I don't think you'd wann'a use a 317 hand, would you? I mean, the 317 IS a J-FRAME, right?!?! And an eight-shooter, to boot, IIRC...what a "Treat" THAT would be to try an' "Time Up"!!!...NOT!!!....mikey357 [/quote name=Carmoney' date='Feb 1 2009, 12:51 AM' post='909919] Steve, it would totally depend on the cost of the cylinder assembly. Dealer price on a 617 from most sources is right at $600 now (everything gun-related has taken a price jump). If you can get a 10-shot cylinder relatively cheap, the conversion might be worthwhile. In my post above, I was just pointing out that you'll need to buy a 617/317 hand as well as the cylinder and extractor.
