  1. NICE-lookin' "Round Gun"!!! Like some of the others, I'm curious as to what "Dash Number" 586 it is...do you know offhand?....mikey357
  2. I've gotta' say here, I've been shooting DA 99% of the time with my REVOLVERS for the last, oh, 30 years or so, and that article by Ernest Langdon has one of the BEST EXPLANATIONS of how to "Manage" a DA trigger that I've seen yet...COOL!!!....mikey357
  3. "Re-Mooning"...isn't that another name for INDECENT EXPOSURE???...just a MISDEMEANOR there in Iowa, I take it???... ....mikey357
  4. The answer from "HQ" was about what I thought it would be ...BTW, Tim, the square-butt grips you have will fit onto the RB frame of the new SSR just fine--just leaves a lil' bit of "Gap" at the bottom of the backstrap--not hardly worth mentioning...HTH....mikey357
  5. chirpy--Thanks, but I DID see that...and sent an e-mail three (3) weeks ago that has NOT be answered, so...???....mikey357
  6. I KNOW this is an OLD "Thread", but...are these "Speedloader Holders" still being made??? If so, how can I order some? Thanks In Advance....mikey357
  7. Mark, it looks like I WILL be at the Nov. Match...may even get Mizz Ethel to "Tag Along"...Tony has VOLUNTEERED to ride in the Pickup Truck Bed...I think that might "Freeze Him Up"...but then, it might HELP ME, as he HAS BEEN "Practicing"!!!... ....mikey357
  8. Mark, I saw Tony today and we talked about coming to your November Match...MY "Problem" is that "the BOSS" and I are supposed to leave for a week in "Sunny Florida" the next day...IF I can convince her that I'd enjoy our vacation much more after having shot an ICORE Match, I'll be there...I'll keep ya' posted...Later....mikey357
  9. Mark: I'm gonna' hafta' check with "the Boss", but something about that November date seems to ring a lil' BELL in my head...like maybe we're supposed to be in Orlando that week, soaking up the SUNSHINE...gotta' check with "She Who Knows All", and will get back to ya' on it....mikey357
  10. Mark, Paul and Tony: I plan to be there...one LIL' problem...I've already got OVERTIME scheduled at WORK...but with all the GRAY HAIR I've got, enough people owe me favors that I should be able to "Swap" it for another "OT" day...you hates to lose any $$$, after all!!! I'm also going to try to make the September Match...Tony, you "Up" for that???...Later....mikey357
  11. Tony: While you need to TRUST your ability to "Call The Shot", and NOT rely on the SOUND--and I believe you can ALREADY do that--I think that a pair of GOOD Electronic Muffs are a GREAT investment for "Steel Shooting"...FWIW, Ethel doesn't hear very well--She wears a Hearing Aid in EACH ear--but she can hear the Steel being "Rung" with a set of "Pro Ears"...If you like, I can "Loan" you a set of medium-priced E-Muffs to try--NOT the "Pro Ears", as we only have ONE set of them, and they are NOT mine!!!...oh, yeah...BTW, I use a 130-gr. FMJ in my .38 Special "Steel Loads"...it's a lil' CLEANER-shooting, and I THINK I hear 'em better, too...'course, that might just be "In My Head"... ...HTH....mikey357 P.S.--the .22's ARE harder to HEAR...I tend to take my earplugs OUT and just go with the E-Muffs when shooting the .22 on "Steel", as opposed to "Double-Plugging", which I do most of the time...FWIW
  12. Oh, yeah...I FORGOT about our "Wonderful" TSA...just remember to take your SHOES OFF before you get to the end of the line, and you SHOULD be FINE!!!...HTH....mikey357
  13. My suggestion would be to have him shoot the LONG GUNS from his left shoulder...shouldn't be that hard to "Adapt To" at an early age... I'd also suggest that he at least TRY to shoot handguns left-handed--when the time comes--but there ARE some pretty good shooters--Dave Sevigny comes to mind--who are left-eye-dominant, and shoot right-handed...with the HANDGUN, let the "Feel" guide him... FWIW, altho' I am right-handed and right-eye-dominant, my MOTHER--who was a pretty fair Pistol shot in her day--was right-handed but left-eye-dominant...and she got pretty good results "Cocking" her head to the side so that she was sighting with her left eye, with the Handgun held in her right hand... I have a VERY GOOD, long-time friend who was an All-American Skeet Shooter a number of years ago who is also right-handed but left-eye-dominant...in her teens, she made the commitment to learn--actually, RE-LEARN--how to shoot from her LEFT shoulder...her results shooting "One-Eyed" from her right shoulder did not seem to be ALL that she was capable of, so she made the switch...and it worked VERY WELL for her...Her comment AFTER going thru the "Re-Learning" process was that she WISHED that she had STARTED OUT shooting the Shotgun from her left shoulder, as the results were better and more consistent, at least for her... I have only shot Shotguns with BOTH eyes open for about three years...while I am right-handed AND right-eye-dominant, my LEFT EYE has MUCH BETTER "Visual Accuity" than my right eye, and I found that I had problems "Cross Firing" about 10-15% of the time when I fired the Shotgun with both eyes open...HARD to EXPLAIN why you missed a high six--which only requires about two feet of lead--by FOUR FEET, and you had "Picture-Perfect" Follow-thru on the shot! I began experimenting with an "Occluder"--in my case, a 3/4 inch paper "Dot"--on the left lens of my shooting glasses, with the occluder positioned in such a way that it "Blocked Out" the end of the barrels/front bead from my left eye's vision...all of a sudden, those High Two's and Three's that had been "Getting the Jump" on me were seen earlier and broken easier...I just REALLY BELIEVE that, if AT ALL POSSIBLE, shooters benefit GREATLY from shooting shotguns with both eyes OPEN--binocular vision, depth of field, width of the field of vision are ALL enhanced, and the "Sighting Eye" doesn't experience the FATIGUE it can--and probably WILL--from "One-Eyed" shooting...HTH, and, as always, YMMV....mikey357
  14. Aawww, Tony, you KNOW that if Man was meant to FLY, God would have given him WINGS!!! Good Luck on THAT...between the Pilots, Controllers and A&P Mechanics, you'll need it!!!... ....mikey357
  15. ...there's ANOTHER reason Dave "Rotates" his elbows/arms like that...he is LEFT EYE DOMINANT! No Kidding! Hard to believe he shoots as well as he does, with THAT "Handicap" AND shooting the equipment he does!...BTW, only kidding about the equipment--altho', if you ever handled one of his guns--even the SJC Racegun--you'd be AMAZED at how ORDINARY his triggers feel...guess it REALLY IS the "Indian" and NOT the "Arrow"!!!....mikey357
  16. Tony, I THINK Mississippi is FARTHER AWAY than Augusta, GA...reckon what time we'd hafta' get up and leave these parts to get THERE by the time the Match started?...and with that "Time Zone" thing...man, that's makin' my HEAD HURT!... ....mikey357
  17. Paul, I just took a gun "In Trade" that has the HOGUE Cylinder Release...if you want to try one, "PM" me your "Snail Mail" Addy and I'll get it out to ya'...If you don't like it, send it back...If you DO like it....THEN we'll TALK... ....mikey357
  18. I've only put 10,000 to 12,000 rounds thru my GLOCKS in the last 27 months, so take that for what it's worth, but...MY IMPRESSION is that the REDUCED-power striker spring with a STOCK striker may result in some ignition failures...the "Harder" the primer used, the more likely this is to occur... The LIGHTENED striker--I've used the "Lightning Strike" Lightened STEEL Striker--with the REDUCED-power striker spring seems TO ME to be MUCH MORE RELIABLE than the eralier-mentioned comination... Keep in mind, I only used the "Reduced" or "Lightened" stuff in my "Game Guns"...IF I were CARRYING a GLOCK, I'd leave it pretty close to "Stock"...but then, "You pays your money and you takes your chances..."...HTH....mikey357
  19. I believe the Lone Wolf and the "Extra Power" Trigger spring from W.C. Wolff Co. are about the SAME "Strength"...IIRC, the one GLOCKMEISTER sells is a lil' bit "Stronger"...HTH....mikey357
  20. ...don't know about the Plantar Fascitis (sp-?), but they have MEDS you can take that'll eliminate--or at least greatly REDUCE--the need for that 3:00 a.m. "Bathroom Trip"..."FloMax", etc. ...Ya' oughta' look into it, Doug!!!...HTH....mikey357
  21. I'm NOT Mark, but UNLESS I'm BADLY MISTAKEN, "Reaction Time" does NOT enter into JM's "World Record Time"...it is timed from the first shot to the last...FWIW, I can't do quite as well as "Pinshooter" when I use a ten-shot 617 in .22 LR for eight shots!!!...pitifully slow, I am....mikey357
  22. "Yoda's" last name didn't happen to be Dryke, did it? Just curious....mikey357
  23. Maybe I can comment a lil' bit on the DURABLILTY of the 327's...My Randy Lee-tuned 327 TRR has about 1,600 rounds thru it right now...and about double that in "Dry Fire"...the ONLY wear is a SLIGHT--and I mean SLIGHT--"Shadowing" of cartridge head impressions on the recoil shield/breechface...FWIW, I have noticed this effect in LESS rounds with a new 686 and 620. As far as the cylinder pin hole in the frame--on MY 327's--I've had three (3) of 'em, toe "TRR's" and an "M&P"--there is a STEEL bushing in the frame that the cylinder pin fits into...can't see THAT as being a "Problem", more like a "Plus"! HTH....mikey357
  24. ...well, if you throw enough $$$ at a problem, MOST of the time you can get it resolved to your "Satisfaction"...having said that, I think that there would be some fairly extensive machine work required to get the seven-shot "Ti" cylinder to fit/work in a 686-3 or earlier. IF I wanted to do something like that, I'd check with Mark Hartshorne at Pinnacle High Performance in PA or Randy Lee at Apex Tactical in Kommiefornia...they seem to have about as much experience with the "Ti" cylinders as anyone I know of, and both have EXCELLENT reputations...let us know what you decide to do!....mikey357
  25. The "Conversion" of a six-shot 686 to a seven-shot 686 "Plus" is a lil' more involved than JUST a cylinder swap...SOMETIMES... I know that the seven-shot 686 "Plus" cylinders will work within the same "Dash Number" on their capacity-challenged bretheren...in other words, a seven-shot cylinder from a 686 "Plus" dash four will work on a six-shot 686-4...provided you "Fit" it properly, of course...B/C gap, headspace and "Timing"... IIRC, the -5 and -6 cylinders are pretty much the same, but won't work on the earlier -4 guns...don't know about the -3 and earlier guns...but HERE is something INTERESTING...I have an EARLY 686-4--a SQUARE-BUTT gun, with the "Old Style" cylinder, with the extractor locating pins...I also have a 686-4 SEVEN-shooter...and the cylinders will INTERCHANGE...with NO "Fitting" necessary...kinda' SERENDIPITOUS, but true...headspace, B/C gap and timing are all "Okay" with either cylinder in either gun...I wouldn't COUNT ON that happening, but it DOES occur...SOMETIMES...FWIW....mikey357
