  1. Thanks, everybody who has replied so far...John, when you got your "Ten-shooter" running WELL, what level of misfires did you have to put up with??? I ask this because I have an older 17-6--alas, only a SIX-shooter--that was "Tuned" by Lou Ciamillo of "MGW"...one of the old-time PPC gun builders...and it will misfire about one or MAYBE two times in 1,000 to 1,500 rounds...???....mikey357
  2. I've got a new-to-me ( purchased "Gently-used"...) fairly recent-production Model 617-6 with the ten-shot cylinder...locks up well, and even has a decent DA trigger... HOWEVER, it has NOT been 100% reliable...with ANY ammo I've tried...I get between 2 and 4% misfires with "WallyWorld" bulk-pack, and between 1-2% M-F's with CCI "Mini-Mags",so... I've looked it over pretty closely...it APPEARS that the mainspring tension screw MAY BE a lil' shorter--.015 in. or so--than any of my other, recent-production Smiths...also, the firing pin protrusion seems rather anemic to me...would the "C&S" Extended firing pin work in a K-22???...TIA....mikey357
  3. ...well, DARN!!!....mikey357
  4. ...any updates yet???...Thanks....mikey357
  5. ...any word on whether or not the guys in Springfield, MA. managed to find that 9x23 reamer???....mikey357
  6. Mike, thanks for the info...now I have a target number to work towards in MY "Dremelology" journey....mikey357
  7. ...well, I'm comin' in a lil' late on this one...I do a fair amount of my practice out in the back yard, on a coupla' Bianchi-style plate racks and some 2/3 scale "Pepper Poppers"...I usually use a .22, either a Model 17-6 six-shooter with a NICE action by Lou Ciamillo of "MGW" or a box-stock 617-6 "ten-shooter"...the .22 is utilized mostly to keep the "Domestic Peace" and out of respect for my closest neighbors...and because it's CHEAP to feed... ...anyway, for developing my "Speed", such as it is...or isn't...for about the last ten or eleven months I have periodically fired six shots at the 2/3 scale "Popper" at five or six yards as fast as possible...all shots on the same target...when I'm "In Practice", my splits run between 0.19 and 0.22 pretty consistently, with an OCCASIONAL 0.17 or 0.18 thrown in, with the exception that the "Split" from the first shot to the second shot is ALWAYS the SLOWEST, frequently running around 0.23 or 0.24, for reasons I don't fully understand... When I pick up the DREADED Ruger MKII with a 2 & 1/2 lb. trigger, my splits then drop to 0.16-0.18, with an occasional 0.14 or 0.15 thrown in...Sure wish I was as fast as that with the REVOLVER!!! The one thing I HAVE figured out is that RELAXATION is your FRIEND and TENSION is your ENEMY when it comes to going FASTER....mikey357
  8. "Reload"...isn't that something you do with a Comp III or a "Moonclip"???....mikey357
  9. Hey, Randy...on the Ti cylinder for the 627's...why not chamber it in 9x23 Winchester...then you can fire 9x23, .38 Super AND 9mm Para out of the same gun...NEAT, huh???....mikey357
  10. ...well, add ME to the list of people who would buy a Ti 9mm cylinder to retrofit to my 627...and show me as being from MISSOURI on the "Taurus Competition" revolver!!!....mikey357
  11. Thanks for the "Range Report", Mike!!!...I'm just guessing, but...since it's a "Moonclip Gun", even WITH your advanced "Dremelology", you should still be able to use .38 Super ammo without any problems, right? Right?!?....mikey357
  12. ...hey Dave, I don't HAVE a .062 Carbide end mill...just a coupla' REAL narrow, fine-cut pillar files...they work REAL GOOD on the MIM'ed Millett rear blades I sometimes use...how would they work on that EXPENSIVE Eye-talian steel???....mikey357
  13. FWIW, MAYBE the reason W-W does NOT have any ammo on the "Power Factor NOT a Factor" ICORE list is that they mostly sell their 130-gr. FMJ .38 Special load thru the "Big-Box Megalo-Marts", and NOT the 150-gr. lead RN load...hhmmm....mikey357
  14. ...I saw one of these about three weeks ago at a "Steel Challenge"-type match...while it APPEARS to be a robust, well made sight, the rear notch is VERY narrow, IMHO...FWIW....mikey357
  15. ...well, you can sign ME up for at least one, IF you figger' out how to get 'em here....mikey357 (pre-lock 627 V-Comp)
  16. Robbie who???...not the robot from the old TV show, is THAT who we're talking about?!?!?....mikey357
  17. ...sounds like an EXCELLENT Match, but...for the life of me, I CANNOT find a MAP anywhere on the referenced site...am I missing something???....mikey357
  18. Mike, didja' stone the LEFT or the RIGHT side of the hand...looking at the gun from the REAR, with it held muzzle-forward???...Thanks....mikey357
  19. ...okay, I've MISPLACED--or LOANED OUT--my Kuhnhausen S&W manual, so here goes...I've got a newish Model 620--seven-shot, stainless L-frame, NON-underlugged barrel--that I'm starting to get kinda' fond of...the problem is the ACTION, or rather, what the ACTION DOES after cylinder lock-up and prior to hammer fall in DA mode... The DA pull weight goes UP about two or three pounds AFTER cylinder lock-up...It does this WITH the cylinder in the gun, but NOT without the cylinder installed...I know this is 'cause the hand is a lil' WIDE in relation to the ratchet teeth on the extractor, but...What can I DO about it???...one suggestion was to LIGHTLY stone the uppermost "Corner" of the hand...another was to CAREFULLY file the ratchet "Teeth" to relieve the "Stacking" effect...finally, "Joe-Bob", one of my local shooting "Buddies"--his name is changed to protect the terminally DENSE--suggested that I "Load Up" the ratchets with "Flitz" and Dry-fire the HECK out of it-!!! What is the "Correct" or "Book" approach to this problem??? Thanks in advance....mikey357
  20. ...Mike, I'm curious if you WEIGHED the hammer in qusetion--the one you applied your "Dremelology" to--before end after the "Surgery"???...It would be interesting to know what the weight reduction was in total...Thanks....mikey357
  21. Hey, Mike...got a firm date yet???....mikey357
  22. BULLSEYE for Major...asking...for...TROUBLE!!!....mikey357
  23. I would LOVE to shoot some ICORE matches in the ATL area...WHERE did you have in mind having the matches???....mikey357
  24. ...that sounds like a LOT of fun...only problem is, I'd need a LOT of advance notice to schedule my time off from WORK...like maybe two or three months' MINIMUM...and, it can't conflict with a coupla' large Skeet Tournaments I've kinda' obligated myself for...so many guns, so little time...and MONEY!!!....mikey357
  25. Waltermitty--You are correct, Sir...it SHOULD HAVE SAID "325 PD", NOT 625 "PD"...post has been edited...that's what I get for trying to post on the "Midnight" shift!!!....mikey357
