    WAY OT

My WIFE was keen on tryin' SASS for a while...I THINK I convinced her that, IF we cannot wear our NEW BALANCE while doing it, is not an activity worth participating in...I THINK... ....mikey357
  2. NEW YORK (Billboard) – Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist Billy Powell died Wednesday morning (January 28) at his home in Orange Park, Fla. He was 56. According to the Associated Press, Powell called 911 around 12:55 a.m., saying he was having trouble breathing. Rescue crews arrived at the home, but Powell was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Orange Park Police Lt. Mark Cornett told the AP that Powell had missed an appointment yesterday for a cardiac evaluation. Powell, whose fluid piano runs spiced such classic Skynyrd songs as "Freebird," "Call Me the Breeze" and "Sweet Home Alabama," and founding guitarist Gary Rossington were the only two original members of the Southern rock band to survive the 1977 plane crash that killed singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backup vocalist Cassie Gaines. Since then, guitarist Allen Collins and bassist Leon Wilkeson have also died; former drummer Artimus Pyle survived the crash but no longer tours with the band, which re-formed in 1987 and still is a powerful concert draw. Skynyrd lore has it that Powell, a former roadie for the band in its earliest incarnations, was asked to join by Van Zant when the latter heard Powell's keyboard take on "Freebird." According to the band's publicist, as-yet-unspecified shows will be canceled as a result of Powell's death. Skynyrd was slated to perform Friday (January 30) in Kinder, La., and the following day in Biloxi, Miss. A European tour was set to begin May 20 in Finland. Reuters/Billboard DAMN!! I HATE that...condolences to his Family, friends, Band-mates and fans....mikey357
  3. ...since we picked our "Vacation Time" in November, it doesn't look good for me making it this year...but if you make it the Fourth of July weekend NEXT YEAR, I can probably get the time...what the hell, I can probably talk at least one other CRAZY "Roundgunner" from the "Deep South" into coming...you listening, Tony???... ....mikey357
  4. ...YES, they ARE... ...I like 'em so much, I have TWO!!!....mikey357
  5. My Lovely Bride gave me an Amadini "Ghost" Revo Holster for Christmas--kinda' COOL, huh??? Anyway, I'm still working on getting it "Set Up" exactly right, and I noticed that the lil' nylon screws that "Adjust" the fit of the Holster to the gun are very LOOSE-fitting in the Holster itself...they don't want to stay put... Being that the Holster itself is PLASTIC, and the screws are nylon, I'm reluctant to use Loc-Tite on the screws...While "Brainstorming" this with the Missus--who used to built Airplanes at Lockheed, BTW--we came up with the idea of using Silicone sealant, or maybe "Teflon Tape", like the Plumber uses...any reason why those ideas would NOT work? Any OTHER--or maybe BETTER Ideas? Thanks in advance....mikey357
  6. The 17L is ALSO "Legal" for GSSF "Indoor" Matches, where ALL "Stock" Glocks compete against each other without regard to barrel/slide length...For my "Older" eyes, the added sight radius REALLY helps...I picked up about five points, on average, going from the G-17 to the 17L...FWIW....mikey357
  7. They had UF in 1880???? ...sure did...that's where...and WHEN...I met yo' MOMMA!!!...ask me 'bout it sometime...it was a "Good Time"!!!... ....mikey357
  8. It's GREAT...to be...A FLORIDA GATOR!!!....mikey357 p.s.--Tebow sure didn't look like only the FOURTH BEST QB in the "Big Twelve", did he?...or maybe Sam "Heisman Trophy" Bradford isn't as good as his run-off-at-the-mouth team-mate thinks???... ...
  9. Gators...Got...TEBOW!!!....mikey357 UF Class of '80...Betcha' DIDN'T know THAT!!!...
  10. I'll SECOND the recommendation for the MGW Tool...I like 'em so much that I bought TWO...one to keep on the Bench at home, one to put in the Range bag...plus, Lou Ciamillo--All-aound GREAT Pistolsmith, Nice Guy and "Head Honcho" at MGW--is kinda' like my Wife's "Adopted" Uncle...I bought mine thru Top Gun Supply and AmeriGlo, so...no "Family" discount!!!... ....mikey357
  11. Tony, ANOTHER way to get there is to START with a ten-shooter, and Contour/Thin down/Cut material from the barrel..."PMD" has a coupla' pics in a post here somewhere...just a thought....mikey357
  12. ...hhmmm...this could get INTERESTING...just for GIGGLES, how would you handle an UNclassified Revo shooter???...hhmmm... ....mikey357
  13. ...as it happens, I can "Offer" to our "Out-of-Town GUESTS" not ONE but TWO "Truck Beds"...one '90 GMC S-15--my Wife's "Dowry", BTW--and an '03 Chevy Silverado stepside four-door...(HINT: Go for the Chevy--IT gets parked in the GARAGE at NIGHT!)...any takers???... ....mikey357
  14. FLEA DIP, yes..."Happy Ending"...well, not for YOU, on THIS TRIP...something about THAT in the Georgia Statutes...ask Carmoney for an explanation...he, being the "Lawyerly Type", can "Steer" you in the RIGHT DIRECTION...NO "Pun" intended...of course....mikey357
  15. Hey, NOW I remember where that place is...just down the street from the VETERINARY HOSPITAL, in case any of our Out-of-town "GUESTS" over-indulge!!!... ....mikey357
  16. Tony, Mrs. 3-5-7- is kind of a "Mexican Food Snob"--sounds like an OXYMORON, I know--so...we usually eat at "La Parrilla" in either McDonough or Fayetteville...where's "El Durango", and do they serve the kind of "Liquid Groceries" that Cliff'll be looking for???... ....mikey357
  17. I knew you would be there Mikey. You getting a rifle???? ...man, that HURTS...I'll have you know that they time me with a REGULAR SUNDIAL, just like everybody else!!! ...and after I didn't even tell the guy MARVELLING at YOUR "Time" last year that you were using a "Racey" eight-shooter, and NOT the "Six-shooter" that he THOUGHT you were using...I SEE how it's going to be...hhmmmpf!!!... ....mikey357
  18. ...I'll be there as well...seeing the the venue is ALMOST in my "Back Yard", I'd never hear the end of it if I missed it...BTW, Mrs. 3-5-7 is buying me a Christmas Present that MAY HELP my times...or maybe not...we'll see....mikey357
  19. ...I wonder why the INTERNAL trigger stop would NOT be "Production Legal", as it is NOT an "External Modification"??? Just another example of the QUAGMIRE that is USPSA Rules, I guess....mikey357
  20. FWIW, the "Moonclipped" Revo's would be a good place to start...as well as a coupla' Berettas that have the "Tip-Up" barrel...no "Slide Racking" required to "Charge" the weapon ...one of the .380's and at least one of the "Pocket-Sized" .22's or .25's are set up this way...HTH....mikey357
  21. Best "Bang for the Buck" would have to be either the Ruger MKII/MKII or the Browning Buckmark...whichever one "Fits" you best..."Honorable Mention" to the S&W Model 41...IF you can AFFORD them, and their magazines... FWIW, I've seen SEVERAL of the old High Standard pistols show up at the local "Steel Match"...while they are BEAUTIFULLY MADE and phenomenally ACCURATE with ammo that they "Like", I have yet to see one go a whole Match without a MALFUNCTION of some sort...Same goes for the SIG "Trailside" and the Walther P-22, or whatever it is called...the reliability has been UNDERwhelming, at least to a "Casual Observer"--Me! HTH....mikey357

    What to read?

...as earlier posters have pointed out, Peter Hyams' "Zen in the Martial Arts" is an excellent tome, as Abe's "Zen and Western Thought", altho' the latter volume can be, well...somewhat OBTUSE at points...I also got a lot out of "Zen in the Art of Archery" by E. Herrigel and D.T. Suzuki...FWIW....mikey357
  23. FWIW, the GLOCK Armorers who were "Working" the BIG GSSF Match in Conyers, GA, back in September were using Breakfree CLP and Mil-Comm TW-25B...HTH....mikey357
