  1. I don't believe that a 686 can be made into an eight-shot .38/.357...but a six-shot 686 CAN BE converted to a seven-shot "Plus", if you want to go THAT route...FWIW....mikey357
  2. ...over 26 years in as an Air Traffic Controller in the busiest Enroute Facility in the World...before that, built copy machines for Xerox...before THAT, worked in Maintenance for a local School Board...before that, College--GO GATORS!!!--summer Construction jobs, high school, working in Restaurants and slinging newspapers...WOW, that goes back 37 years!!!....mikey357
  3. ...well, what's your "Best Guess", then, Flex???... ....mikey357
  4. This pic was taken at a "Steel Match" about two years ago...can anybody ID everybody in the pic???....mikey357
  5. Paul, you CANNOT run a "Steel Match" in Augusta on the THIRD Saturday--that's "ICORE" day--and you sure can't run it on the FIRST Saturday--that's "Steel in Griffin Day"--so WHEN would you run it???...hhmmm???... ....mikey357
  6. ALRIGHT!!! GREAT NEWS!!!...coulda' been BETTER, coulda' been MUCH WORSE...TIME TO CELEBRATE....mikey357
  7. I'm havin' a HARD TIME waiting...guess I'll just keep the ol' fingers CROSSED... ....mikey357
  8. Tony, did you pick up a 627 V-Comp? If not, you can look at mine, and maybe solve the "Dovetail Riddle" once and for all...let me know...HTH....mikey357
  9. I'm just guessin' here, but...128 PF with a STOCK recoil spring and a STEEL frame??? Sounds like it is OVERSPRUNG...might try the 13 lb. ISMI on a steel or tungsten rod...I'd bet it would "Track" better, FEEL Better and feel FLATTER in recoil...the set-up, as-is, just sounds all OUT OF BALANCE to me...but what do I know?!?!....mikey357
  10. WHERE and WHEN in S.C.??? Do they shoot the "Steel Challenge" stages, or are the stages "Made Up"???...Thanks!....mikey357
  11. ...I don't know what movie the line is from, either...but I DO REMEMBER that gas was about 40 CENTS a GALLON when I started to drive...have some old pictures somewhere that show Mom's old Opel sedan--SEVENTEEN cents a gallon!...aahhh, maybe they WERE the "Good Old Days", after all....mikey357
  12. ...actually, I did all my Racin' growing up at Miami-Hollywood Speedway..."Brackets" on Saturday afternoons and evenings...MAN, THAT was a LONG time ago!!!...mikey357
  13. I think that maybe another way to look at the "Trust" thing is that you must have a certain level of SELF CONFIDENCE before you can "Trust" yourself to run on "Autopilot"...For ME, I MUST be absolutely confident in my equipment--that it is RELIABLE, and that it will "Shoot Where I Look" if I execute the shot correctly...I MUST be absolutely confident in my shooting ability--that I have the FUNDAMENTALS ingrained to the point that I CAN execute the shot, no matter HOW DIFFICULT, and...I MUST be absolutely confident in my ability to execute the shot UNDER STRESS...Only THEN am I able to let the Subconscious take over and let the Conscious "Be Quiet"...Simple, really...NOT!!!...but that is what I MUST HAVE...YMMV....mikey357
  14. ...I've never even HEARD of a "Butt Dyno"...on second thought, NO, do NOT tell me!!!... ....mikey357
  15. Dang, how OLD is your 627? I have a pre-lock 627 "V-Comp" that doesn't have that type F/P retaining pin...Good Luck on the Part!....mikey357
  16. ..."Backyard Ranges'' can be SO MUCH Fun!!!...a GREAT "Stress Reliever"!!!...here's mine... ...we shoot at about a five-dgree downward angle into a creekbank that you can't see 'cause of the vegetation...'course, not many go into the 'bank...yeah, RIGHT!!!....mikey357
  17. There are at least THREE different versions of the 327 with the five-inch barrel...the 327 "JM", the 327 "TRR" and the 327 "M&P"...The "JM" gun has the Ti cylinder and barrel shroud, and, IIRC, the "Catalog Listed" weight was 29 ounces-!!! The 327 "Tactical Response Revolver"--TRR--and the 327 "M&P" are listed at 35-36 ounces, IIRC, and both have a STEEL cylinder...not sure about the barrel shroud...ALL the five-inch 327's have the "Flame Cut Shield" above the breech end of the barrel, and all have the interchangeable "Classic Style" front sight...FWIW, the "JM" version was only made for a short while, and has, I believe, been DISCONTINUED...IIRC, the original Distributor for that version was "Jerry's Sports Center"...don't know if they have any more on hand or not... I am currently shooting a 327 "TRR" at "Steel", and will likely try it at an "ICORE" Match next month...Mine has a "Randy Lee" Hammer, and Randy's Level II "Action Job"...it will run Federal American Eagle 130-gr. "Ball"--what I'm currently shooting at "Steel"--100% reliability-wise with the DA set at six pounds even... I bought the gun second-hand...between me and the "Previous Owner", the gun has about 1,600 rounds thru it, and more "Dry Fire" than that...the ONLY sign of wear ANYWHERE on the gun is a lil' bit of "Case Head Shadowing" on the recoil shield...and I mean just a lil' bit... INITIALLY--while I was "Practicing" with it and "Zeroing" the sights--I thought that the gun might be TOO LIGHT for "Steel", but that has NOT proven to be the case...I kinda' LIKE it for "Steel"... FWIW, "Pinshooter" is right about PRACTICE...due to a Hospitalization and subsequent Death in my Sister's Family, I wasn't able to do any "Practice" before my last "Steel Match", EXCEPT about three or four "Dry Fire" session...which I did with a Model 27-8--the "PC" eight-shot "Reg. Mag." repro...with it's only so-so trigger, I had LOTS of "Adjusting" to do when I pulled out the 327 "TRR" at the "Steel Match"!!! It wasn't terribly UGLY, but then, it wasn't "Pretty", either... If anyone is interested in a NIB, unfired 327 "TRR", "PM" or e-mail me, as I have one I may part with...with having the "Randy Lee" gun, I just don't think I need TWO of 'em!!!....mikey357
  18. ...yeah, somewhere along the way, ol' J, Michael must've "Parted Ways" with it, 'cause I am NOT him...nor do I shoot like he did!...but it IS kinda' cool having an older "Heinie Gun" to look at/ fondle /shoot from time to time...and to compare "Yesterday's Best" with what is coming out of his shop--and others--today. FWIW, Plaxco isn't the only "GM" shooter to have ever parted with a "Prize Table" Gun...I also have one that Dave Sevigny won three or four years ago--NOT a "Heinie", BTW...mikey357
  19. ...the PICS tell the STORY... ...hope you ENJOY....mikey357
  20. ...I've got "One or Two"...here goes...I HOPE!!!... ...the last two...a 625-2 "Model of 1988" and a 625-4 "Model of 1989" get the most "Range Time"...the '89-Marked gun has a "Kitchen Table Action Job" by Yours Truly, while the '88-Marked gun was transformed from a "Sow's Ear" into a "Silk Purse" by Lou Ciamillo of "MGW"...hope you ENJOY....mikey357
  21. ...well, the LONG answer is "Yes, it CAN be done"...best way is PROBABLY to find a Model 19 or 66 cylinder and have it "Fitted" to your 547. Next step would be to rechamber it to 9mm...last step would be to do the "Moonclip" conversion...Tony, if you are out there, chime in...this sounds like something you and I discussed on that LONG car ride!
  22. Almost ANYTHING can be done, if You have ENOUGH $$$...but why would you want to "Carve Up" a perfectly good--and fairly valuable--547?!?!....mikey357
  23. ...yeah, THREE HUNDRED Moonclips...John hardly EVER does anything "Half Way"!!!... ....mikey357
  24. Aw, Shucks...youse guys are embarassing me!... ...It WAS a GREAT Match...most fun I've had while fully-clothed in quite a while!!!....mikey357 ...oh, Yeah...and LUNCH was GOOD, too! Thanks, Paul!
  25. Yeah, Tony, I know that...otherwise, I wouldn't be shooting a "Round Gun" in the first place...either that, or I AM Crazy, like my Wife says...hhmmm...gotta' think on THAT for a while....mikey357
