  1. I'm glad you posted this here too. Very encouraging. Gary
  2. Don't have anything hooked to my TV but a dvd player. It rarely comes on. I find starting converations fairly easy if the subject matter is interesting to all parties.
  3. Let's not corrupt this thread with logic and good sense, ok?
  4. What is it that you want to get out of a match? You have to identify THAT thing, whatever it is. For me, it's having fun. Sure, I want to win but if I'm not having fun then the win feels empty. If I'm having fun, it doesn't matter if I win. I also tend to win more often if I am having fun and less often if I'm not. Know what you want to acheive and you will. Gary
  5. Beautiful Dane, congrats. How do you excercise him, does have his own treadmill?
  6. I took my wifes sewing table and bolted 3 Square Deal B's to it.
  7. I'm too busy talking to myself and my gun to bother with yelling the right thing...unless "FRONT SITE" is what you're supposed to yell at people. When I shoot falling plates I yell, GET DOWN GET DOWN!! It helps.
  8. My neighbor has an Escape and it's been to the shop for repairs a LOT. I've seen a tow truck pick it up 3 times in the last 6 months. I'm going to wait for the technology to get better before seriously considering a hybrid anything.
  9. I see it a lot. Black painted weapons = hard cover and scored as misses when hit. It's silly, but it's common.
  10. Not sure exactly, Hop. I'm having fun with my 686 in SSR but I am looking at USPSA more and more.
  11. Ok, so the RNL in your post doesn't stand for Round Nose Lead? That is a jacketed bullet load?
  12. Thanks for all the replies. Two things definitely ring true to me. The wheelgun is art and it's just plain fun. Gary
  13. Never broke a shell plate bolt but after seeing folks talk about how common it is, I'll be ordering a couple tomorrow morning.
  14. My 686 is not cut for moonclips and I've never had a case get under the star on a reload. (knocks on wood)
  15. I've been invited a couple of times and am thinking about taking my 625 to a USPSA match. Looks like fun. Gary
  16. I like the wood Hogues with finger grooves and prefer the square butt profile. The rubber grips are too sticky but if I had to use rubber grips, I'd choose the Pachs because they're less sticky than hogue rubber. Hogue also makes a hard nylon grip that's just as good as the wood imho and a lot cheaper, just not as pretty.
  17. Did you use this tool? 45° MUZZLE/CYLINDER CHAMFERING CUTTER & STEEL PILOT http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...20STEEL%20PILOT If so, do you just carefully apply pressure and turn by hand until it's as deep as you want it? ~Mitch Yes, that's the tool I used. I cut as deep as it would allow me too. Any farther and the whole tool would've chambered.
  18. I started shooting local steeel matches a few months ago and I agree, it's great practice. It's also highly addictive. slugs hitting those plates sounds better than about anything I can think of, even the ice cream truck. Gary
  19. Here's my 686. I did the chamfering with the kit from brownells. I think it came out pretty good. Gary
  20. what was the OAL on the 4.1 gr. Bullseye, 158 grain Zero RNL?
  21. Very good data, Chuck. Thanks for posting. I have two 4" 686's and one of them is about 50 fps faster on average. Gary
