  1. I agree with the above. Upgrade your HD and keep going. Use the money you've saved on primers and match fees. Gary
  2. I use Bullseye for all my 9mm loads. It's very consistant and makes pf easily with no pressure signs.
  3. Hard to tell but in that clip, she doesn't look like she's against 2A.
  4. No kiddin! That's my new walpaper. Thanks for the link. Gary
  5. from wikipedia: Sorry officer, you're denying me my right to pursue happiness. It's on the OTHER side of your road block.
  6. I got a 29 but don't really understand why. On one run, I did what I thought was right (# low to high), did NOT make a mistake and still got the X.
  7. This is a very interesting topic. I used to use a shok-buff (CP) but after many thousands of rounds through various 1911's, I never saw any difference in the amount of wear on the guide rod head or in the area of the frame where it rides. Is frame battering mainly caused by some other deficiency in the guns opperation? Is the shok-buff just a patch that hides the real issue? Gary
  8. This is one of my favorite guns. It's a pre ILS (all US made) Springfield Armory Trophy Match in 45acp. Tripp hard chrome finish Fusion Fireams MSH/Magwell Caspian wide notch rear and XS small tritium dot front sight Nowlin match barrel and bushing Ed Brown wide ambi safety Ed Brown mag catch Ed Brown pin set Ed Brown Hard Core firing pin Ed Brown 1pc FLGR Wilson Combat slide stop SVI Xcellorator Hammer SVI TriGlide sear Wilson Combat Sear Spring Ed Brown 19lb mainspring Wollf 14.5lb variable recoil spring Davidson hornback lizard G10 grips She shoots great and has been very reliable. Eats everything and even runs dirty.
  9. Sounds like a fun drill. My range has plate racks but they're at 25 yards and drawing from the holster is not allowed.
  10. hk_mtbr, that is a very nasty wound. Is that YOUR leg? I do know what a spider bite can do to human flesh. My uncle had a baseball sized chunk of flesh removed from his calf due to a brown recluse bit. But, there are a lot of things in nature that can kill or seriously injure a person and that's not going to change. I'm sure I could've gotten a lot better pic if I'd gotten closer but I know enough to keep my distance.
  11. I didn't realize there was so much Arachniphobia on this forum.
  12. I was walking my dog, Boris, when something on the ground caught my eye. On the edge of a small spot of standing water, I saw a beautiful black widow spider. She was perched on a web about an inch above the water and right at the edge of the grass. Being in TX, I have seen these before but not outdoors. They're usually in cracks and crevices in the corners of garages, barns, woodpiles etc. This time, I was able to get a really good look, being in the daylight. My camera phone does not do her justice. Her legs were long and as shiny as a new sports car. The hourglass stood out like a neon sign. I estimate that her leg span would just about cover a quarter. I thought about tossing a coin in the water for perspective but didn't want to disturb the web. After finishing our walk, I returned to the spot with a real camera but couldn't find her. Anyway, you had to be there to appreciate it. Gary
  13. This adds yet another dimension to the problem of No-knock Warrants. Now, someone waking to screams and shouts when the door gets kicked in at 3am has to discern if it's A. Police, B. Home Invasion or C. Assassins dressed like SWAT.
  14. A set of grips is the only thing I have destroyed with my dremel. I measure 5,000,000,000,000 times and dremel once.
  15. I sent my 45Colt mountain gun's cylinder to Mark at Pinnacle custom guns and had it machined for moonclips and it works perfectly. Gary
  16. You need to come out and play with that SS once you become an official member of the SS (very exclusive) club, Gary!! I'd enjoy shooting against you!! Thanks. I look forward to it as well. Although, I think the last time I beat you in a match shooting ANYTHING was close to two years ago. I'll just watch and learn.
  17. Thank You, Mr. Moore and Mr. Orr.
  18. I'd like to play too. Though I have been shooting wheelguns for most of the last year, the single stack 1911 is, and always has been my first choice. I carry one every day as my ccw. Here's a video of me shooting an IDPA stage (CDP SS at that time, now EX) as well as the scores from that match. Video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qyokDsfxeW8 scores: http://www.dallaspistol.com/daps/UploadedS...7%20Overall.htm Pics of my favorite 1911, which is a series 70 Colt Combat Government that I have enjoyed since 1989. Thanks, Gary J.
  19. I have done business with Mark at Pinnacle and customer service was outstanding. I sent him a cylinder and had it back in less than 3 weeks. Gary
  20. I use the same load for matches that I practice with but I take more pride in the match ammo. Match ammo gets case gauged, tumbled, and handed alot more. Practice ammo goes from station 4 into a plastic tub and waits to be fired. Gary
  21. One thing that really bothers me is that these girls used the school nurses office like a PLanned Parenthood Center.
