  1. That would look pretty cool but I think it would be very expensive. I'm not sure titanium is flexible enough either and might be pretty hard to load and unload. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread though. Gary J.
  2. Good for you! Don't sweat the procedurals, when you're flyin, the details just get in the way. Gary
  3. Backing out the strain screw to lighten the trigger pull is not a good thing to do. Get a wolff spring kit from brownells part # 080-665-201. It's less than $20 and will reduce the trigger pull without filing down or backing out the strain screw. I really like this hammer spring and have used it in over a dozen guns with great results. Gary J.
  4. It was great to meet some foks at dinner and the Cross Timbers crew had a fun time at the match. Thanks to everyone that worked so hard to make it a success. Gary J.
  5. On a J frame, I like the grips to be minimal so I can put it in my pocket. Here's my 642 with Ahrends cocobolo boot grips. Gary
  6. Are you trying to say our steaks will still be mooing when we arrive? Gary
  7. I'd have somebody film me shooting to see if I was really breaking 180 before I changed my whole game based on what one MD says.
  8. The 10mm is a great cartridge. Here's my Razorback:
  9. I can tell no difference in trigger pull with or without the hammer block in place. I keep mine installed for the obvious safety reasons. Gary J.
  10. Can myself and the 3 other gentlemen from Cross Timbers IDPA join you all for dinner? Thanks, Gary J.
  11. Nothing last night was revolver friendly, evem the MD. The world is not revolver friendly. I am thinking about carmonizing a hammer. Did it make a big difference in the feel of the gun? No light strikes?\ Gary J.
  12. Magtech LPP's are the next best primer compared to Federal for light wheelgun triggers in my exp. They seem to be softer than winchester or remington. Gary J.
  13. Haha, small world. I am having a lot of fun with my 25. It's a lot cheaper to shoot 45 acp than 45 Colt. I've put a fiber optic FS on the gun since that thread, which I can actually see, hence accuracy was improved. Gary J.
  14. Myself and 3 others from Cross Timbers IDPA will be carpooling down from Fort Worth. I can't wait! Gary J.
  15. Send me money, I will help you. Gary
  16. Howdy and welcome. I use a Comp-tac locking paddle holster for my 625. www.comp-tac.com They ship very fast and have awesome customer service. Blade-tech also makes a nice revolver holster www.blade-tech.com Gary
  17. I'll call Clark and/or C&S on Monday. Thanks for the tips. Is there any reason why I should NOT send it to Colt? Gary
  18. I have a 70's Python that when shooting DA, the cylinder turns slightly past where it should be and no bang. Single action is fine though. I'd really like to get it fixed locally and avoid the crazy shipping cost but want it to be in the hands of a gunsmith that knows what they're doing. Thanks, Gary
  19. Thanks for the tips folks. I use Bubberized comp III's (which are very fast) with my 686 which is what I've been shooting but wanted to try the K frame for a while. I switched out the thumb piece for a newer style factory one that doesn't drop below the nut and that helped a little but even with the pachmayr grippers, it still drags a bit. I am not ready to give up on them but am not ready to take them to a match either. If I can beat my reload speed using the 686 and comp III's then I'll take it to a match but I am nowhere near that point yet. Craig, I'm not going to make it to the S&W match this year, it's just not in the budget. You may yet end up with these SL's if I can't master them pretty soon. Thanks, Gary J.
  20. I picked up some SL variant loaders for my K frame but the grips interfere. Before I start grinding away on my nice wood grips, are there any grips that will clear the loader without modification? Thanks, Gary J.
  21. I just use the blade of the screwdriver I used to take out the sideplate screws. With a little practice, it gets pretty EZ! I use the blade of a screwdriver also. I installed springs before in S&W revolvers but this time I just slipped or forgot how I used to do it. I am just wondering if the tool makes it alot easier. I think the tool makes it MUCH easier than using a screwdriver. The tool doesn't "slip off" as easily as a screw driver will.
  22. I use Magtech primers to load 45acp and they are the 2nd softest. Federal is still softer. My 625 will ignite magtech primers at 7lbs but not at 5lbs DA pull.
  23. Ouch. That's a show stopper for sure. What do you gain by taking so much metal off of the hammer? I'm not trying to be facetious, I really don't know. Gary J.
