  1. Its an interesting idea however... To work it would need to: 1) Not add any weight to the gun. 2.) Hold zero (if it were part of the scope. 3.) Not reduce the already miserable battery life of my scope even further. 4.) Be durable enough to withstand the gforces associated with being attached to an open gun shooting major pf ammo (check some of the high speed video on this site for some startling insight as to what happens to a scope and mount duing firing) 5.) Not cost more than 400 dollars in the quantities (small) that you could sell them. Even if you could make all that work I am still not sure what the benefit would be over a standard timer for practice.
  2. For if you are going to shoot a glock for limited a 24 is hard to beat. I do have a couple of issues with them. 1.) It is a bit nose heavy. I have a brass magwell on mine to move the balance point back torwards my hand somewhat. 2.) The slide is a bit heavy for my liking. But it is easy for a good gunsmith to lighten it if you want it lighter.
  3. You didn't say what length gas system the 16" is set up for. If its carbine then that's probably not the best choice. I'd go with the 20 and have it cut to 18 when you have it threaded. An 18" with a rifle length gas system make for a nice smooth shooting gun.
  4. Another good choice for an inexpensive red dot is to hit ebay for a 1st or 2nd gen bushnell holosight. They can usually be picked up for 200 or less.
  5. For your requirements a 16" middy would serve you well. (As said above a 14.5 with a perm afixed brake would probably be even better).
  6. You have already found my favorite. h335 plus hornaday 55s in lc brass runs submoa in all my ARs.

  8. Sam, what rules are y'all planning on using for this match.
  9. I buy once fired single head stamp 9mm to shoot in my open gun. Not for the consistency of velocity but for uniform dimensions. That was prompted by an article that bob at brazos wrote for front sight. He took and measured several different head stamps ( may have been .40 or 9mm don't remember) and found a lot of variation in rim diameter, thickness, grove diameter. Before when I shot mixed headstamp brass in my guns I used to get occasional wierd jams (very ocasional). Also the ejection pattern was eratic. With single headstamp (fc) all the brass piles up in a neat pile and hasn't had a one of those wierd jams in 10's of thousands of rounds. (9mm major 38 sup breach face aftec). Just my experience fwiw...
  10. At the club match I run we do 4 pistol and 2 rifle stages every month. One of the long pistol field courses usually gets re-used as a rifle stage. Shooting an open pistol I am usually a bit faster on targets from contact distance to 12-17 yards and lots of movement and transitions. Beyond that distance I am usually faster with a rifle.
  11. I think that translates shooting on the move?
  12. Damn Randal... I hate that you lost old yella. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
  13. The last time I had to re-zero was when I got to Las Vegas last year for the nationals. Even in a pelican. Getting banged around in transit was enough to cause it to shoot about a foot low and several inches to the right. Strangely the trip back didn't bother it at all. (Thanks again to the american shooters guys for letting us use their indoor range to re-zero).
  14. Happy Beerday Randal. Time to dig out the match director mug from the state match?
  15. If you are looking for a Kydex style mag pouch check out Ready Tactical. I have several of their holsters and mag pouches and I have been happy with the quality of the product. CPWSA (a forum vendor) (http://www.cpwsa.com/ready_tactical.htm) lists them for Caspian/EAA. You couldn't find a better person to deal with than Chris Patty.
  16. Caspian mags will fit in the same holders as the large fame witness mags. I use the CR speed mag pouches, just use one of the supplied shims.
  17. B&P if your gun will cycle them are my favorites. Soft shooting and accurate. Ok for gas gun use but I think the Benelli's might not have liked them.
  18. I would not normaly have thought 10k rounds would cause that much difference. Have you shot it for group off bags? If it still groups ok I have used the .356 trick in the past and it did seem to help with the velocity. Is this the same batch/lot of powder you were using before.
  19. Or scott mcree will make you a nice stock for the savage that takes AI mags... This is one of Scott's TMag center sections with the folding stock. Pardon the poor photography.
  20. Caspian,Sti,Tanfoglio And I did go to the nationals.
  21. To undercut the trigger guard I usually use a dremel with a small sanding drum... Just go slowly.
  22. There are several oft repeated choices for 1-4s (seems like a thread pops up on that at least once a week). I like one that is day light illuminated true 1x on the bottom end and that will take a cat-tail/power lever. My choice is the Meopta K-Dot, other choices in that arena would be something like the Trijicon accupoint 1-4. With either of these scopes, for me at least, they are just about as fast as an EOTech on up close targets. If I lived somewhere with more distance I'd probably be looking at a Burris XTR 1.5x6 like the one mentioned above.
