  1. Well... Finding mags shouldn't be a problem anymore... (Even a bigstick isn't too bad a problem call Jim Anglin for that). Adding the grips will change how it fills you hand some. On finding the dot... A quinn mount would probably help you if you switch back and forth a lot (I find I do ok with the standard mount like yours with just a couple of hours of dryfire but I have shot a lot of open so ymmv). The cost of good same headstamped once fired 9mm has gone up a good bit, so you'd have to do the math on whether its better to shoot what you have or re-barrel to 9 (I have had 2 of my caspians re-barreled to 9 so that's not a huge deal). The best advice I could give you about giving open a try is to commit to it for several months(and do the necessary dryfire to get the required muscle memory.) If you decide you don't want it pm me...( I can always use another caspian )
  2. Best of luck to you. I had to wait several months for mine. But it was well worth it.
  3. My current favorite upper was built using a 16.1" Recon Barrel Group. It has been an excellent barrel. While initially the price for this kit seems a bit high, what offsets this is the inclusion of a headspaced bolt, nice low-profile gas block that has been drilled with the barrel to allow pinning the gas block on, and also the gas tube. So considering what comes with it and the .5 - .75 MOA groups it shoots with almost anything I feed it, it seems like a fair deal to me. As said above, "No such thing as TOO GOOD"
  4. Hop, I didn't know there were that many revo shooters... Good job rasing money for a great cause
  5. In no particular order Colt Para Caspian (Craig,Clark,Nowlin) Springfield Glock Sti SV S&W H&K CZ
  6. Hmm... I must have gotten lucky. I have 2 caspians that run and run and run. Had them both rebareled from 38sc to 9mm major. Never had to touch the mags... I agree though they aren't pretty. I keep hoping they do for the 9/38 super mags what they have done for the 40 mags (which are very nice).
  7. Well... Some of us like them
  8. Out of curiosity why the heavy carrier?

  10. For sure there are many scopes that can handle the .50 The reason I recomended the NF is that I know from personal experience that it will stand up to the punishment of shooting the 50. The one on my Styer HS 50 has worked quite well so far. The Super Sniper will likely work for you. The only issue I have with them is that the glass just isn't even close to the NF (of course the cost isn't either...so there is something to be said for that ) Just glad to see more .50 owners...
  11. Wait till you pull the trigger. It will put an ear to ear smile on your face that will take an hour to wear off. Join the Fifty Caliber Shooters Association. Their forum (members only) is THE source of knowledge for things 50BMG.(Plus you get a neat magazine four times a year). Next buy a NightForce scope to put on it. It is one of the few scopes that doesn't cost a fortune that will stand up to hard use.
  12. Well Randal... If you had come to the nationals with us you could have told her in person.
  13. Just call brazos and get one of the ones Bob has already tuned. It saves lots of irritation.
  14. Dennis, I have noticed the same thing with HS6. At 166 it is quite dirty. At 175 where I load it gets cleaner. I suspect it has something to do with rising pressure. That sounds like an excelent question for Guy
  15. I agree with trapr on this one. The seperation happens by itself. Greater skill and ability will allow those shooters to perform the task more quickly.
  16. Any of the BE Family on Open Squad 35?
  17. 17 or 18 go rifle length gas system. Midlength works well for 17"/18" but the rifle length shoots softer. I wouldn't consider a carbine length gas system unless I was dealing with something 14.5" or shorter.
  18. +1 to dt1's use of black plates with white lime powder spread behind them at the Steel City match. That provides excelent target definition plus allows you to see the misses since the target backer is the berm wall. We had flash targets out to 300 yards on the stage I worked. I don't think I heard anyone complain about having a hard time seeing the targets.
  19. By the way usable variables need not be expensive. I used a weaver 1-3 for a couple of years and it worked pretty well for me. (I bought it used... I doubt I paid more than $100 for it.)
  20. Could be and if so... I am always glad to do my part
  21. Ok I have read this thread and the letter in Frontsight, I don't understand what the problem that is trying to be addressed is. Is the concern that tactical aggregate has become too popular and has reduced the participation in limited or the participation in open? It seems to me that people who want to shoot open will do so because they like the full open experience (box mag shotguns, open pistols)... leave them out of this discussion. If the concern is that limited is dying ( or we need to give the 1x red dot guys a home) then let's make a positive change to limited and allow 1x un-magnified optics. Or if more seperation is required between limited and tactical, make the limited guys take their comps off (when I started shooting USPSA 3-gun I don't think comps were allowed in limited) and run max 30 round mags... Is the argument that true 1x variables costs too much money? I don't accept that argument since there are several true 1x that cost less than an Eotech and with some careful shopping I didn't pay much more for a KDot than I would have for an new Eotech. Is the argumet that variables aren't tactical? That's wrong for sure. Didn't the military just start handing out Elcan Specter DR scopes to the Special Ops guys? (At least one guy I shoot matches with regularly just got his). So why would I mess with the most popular division in USPSA 3-gun?
  22. True enough. Funny part is that the one I have is the second one I've had. Sold the other one to a friend. Rich You mean everyone doesn't have 2 Casepros with full sets of plates? It doesn't go in the pistola if it hasn't gone through the Casepro first...
  23. Ray, Thanks for agreeing to do this, this process would be a lot harder to deal without good folks like you who are willing to help out.
