USCBigdawg (and the Mrs.) Are Moving! (Poll Added)

Being selfish to bring youto our area would vote first for UF and second for Savannah. Good luck!

B)

This thread needs a poll.

Nemo...mi amigo...Jacksonville is actually on the list. That city has a soft spot in my heart since I helped design the baseball stadium and the arena in downtown.

Rich

I voted GA, but I'm biased there. There is tons of shooting if you don't mind driving. On a more important note you helped design the baseball grounds here? The family and I spend lots of time there. we love it. If you did JAX you have 3 clubs pretty close by.

Bobby, I knew there was something just not quite right about you, and now I know what it is. :surprise:

Do not stay in California if you can move out! I know, I sound like a traitor, but man, there are so many other, better places I think to raise kids. I know alot of the people who live in our state would disagree, but man I would go if I could.

Imagine living in a state where you can carry concealed. I like that alot.

Rich, the good part about the driving is that you are not expected to help set-up at the match. If you drive from Savannah, there are several locals that you could car pool with also.

NICE! Give me a rifle range and then 1-2 pistol matches a month, I'm good.

Rich

That can be done with no problems. And if you like to fish it's even better.

I am exiled to Commufornistan for the time being... fortunately I live in a conservative county (Kern) that is close to "shall issue" for CCWs. I dream of the day when I can escape, and I'm a little jealous that you can leave before I can...

I don't see a bad choice on your list. Georgia sounds groovy!

ETA: I voted PAC-10+ but anyplace has to be better than cali... the socialist shenanigans, tree-huggers, entitlement idiots, rodney-king rioters, pelosites, etc ad nauseum here really suck

Rich, I don't know you, but you are a big positive presence on this forum, so I vote for Georgia! Fireant is our commandant and Nemo and his crew are regular visitors. Maybe North Florida-South Georgia. Check on the dental licensure-I know a couple of people who have been burned because Georgia wouldn't recognize credentials from another state. Lots of shooting around here, all the time. Good luck! Hope to see you at Benning. Bill Nelson.

Rich, other than being really hot, 9-10 mos. out of the year. TX puts you within decent driving distance of pretty much all the major 3 gun matches you'd want to attend, it also gets you close to lots of driving companions to share the drive.

SanAntonio is within an hours drive to several diverse matches every week, steel challenge, idpa, ipsc, 3 gun, LR rifle, f-class, etc.

It also puts you really really close to one of the founding members of the International Drinking and Shooting Assoc. :roflol:

Go for GA:

Matches in Charleston, SC and Brunswick, GA. Lots more in the Atlanta area.

Rifle range and hunting at Fort Stewart.

Gun friendly and long hunting seasons.

+100 to everything David said! Not to mention that once you live in GA long enough, we might let you in on the secrets to the BEST accent/drawl that God ever made! :D

Come to SEC country. Besides the great football games every week-end in the fall, there are endless shooting opportunities throughout, not to mention the MISSISSIPPI Classic. Ask around, you won't find a better match. In addition, there is always Area-6, Florioda Open, Ft Benning Three-gun. It doesn't get any better.

Talk to some PA grads. If most grads end up finding jobs in the area that they graduate from, then you should probably go to PA school in an area that you eventually want to settle.

Otherwise, you may want to go to school someplace different to see a new state/area that you would otherwise never go to.

Throughout my 10 years of post-grad training, I spent some time at a couple of the schools you mentioned.

I spent two years at UC Davis and one year at Univ. of Utah.

I liked Utah because you are in the mountains (great skiing, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, etc.) I was there in 2000 and that is when a found a club that had IDPA and that was my first competitive shooting experience. I also believe there are some 3 Gun competitions in area. I've heard there are some great archery clubs and if you are into auto racing (other than NASCAR), Miller Motorsports Park is there as well.

Since you are in CA, you probably know more about UCD. It is a small college town and most people get their clinical training in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. Tahoe is about 2 hours east and San Francisco about 2 hours west if I recall correctly.

My only experience at Univ. of Florida was when I played football against them when I was a freshman in college. I had never been to the south before and when we got off the plane and stepped outside I thought I had died and gone to hell. I had never experienced humidity like that before.

I have great memories from all of the places that I have trained. As I look back at my life, I could never have predicted the exact route that I have taken. I've enjoyed the path every step of the way and I've never looked back. Good luck and I'm sure that you and your soon to be Mrs. will have a great experience where ever you go!
