Loading recipes for 9mm Minor

Xfactor

Recommended Posts

I'm getting into reloading, and I'm interested in seeing what working recipes other 9mm Production shooters have settled-in on... specifically, bullet brand/type and weight, powder brand/type and weight, OAL, and primer.

Thanks in advance - this should be a great list!

There's a whole whack of list in here to give you a variety of 9mm loads.

Here's what I use for my wife's G17 loads:

WSP

WIN Brass

125 grn JHP Zero/MGB

4.7 Grns W231

OAL = 1.090"

WSP

WIN Brass

125 grn JHP Zero/MGB

4.1 Grns Titegroup

OAL = 1.090"

WSP

WIN Brass

125 grn JHP Zero/MGB

3.6 Grns VV N320

OAL = 1.090"

3.9 VV N320 over a MG 147 CMJ, WSP, OAL 1.125 gets me 135-140 PF through my G17 and G34 (Flex is right, I found I need the extra oomph over the Minor PF floor to get my Glocks to run).

I'm going to fiddle some with Clays and TiteGroup after the Nats.

wanted to stay a little economical so i use most of the same components for minor as i do for major. they are:

124gn montana gold cmj

5.3gn silhouette

federal small pistol

1.115" oal

shoot this out of my cz shadow. pf is a little lower than most would feel comfortable, 127+, but pistol works fine and load is accurate. might go .1gn more but like i always say, "if it ain't broke why fix it". :P

I just started loading and Ive loaded up a whole 600 rounds of 9mm using 147gr FMJ Horndays over 4.8gr of HS-6 and I think the OAL = 1.120 or 1.125 IIRC (my friend loads the same load I do so I dont remember the exact OAL). I have yet to figure PF as I dont have a crono and neither do my friends who are helping me load on their dillion 550. This load runs great in my G19.

It took out every piece of steel I hit the first time at the Pro-Am Champ. match this past weekend at USSA.

ETA: Im also using federal small pistol primers as I got a deal on them for $100 for 5k

147 grain Zero JHP

3.4 grains of Titegroup

1.130 OAL

WSP

138 PF

I use either Win/FP/FC/CBC brass but always reload my batches with just one headstamp at a time.

For now this is what I use. I've used quite a bit of Power Pistol but the bark is harsher than this load.

124gr Berrys DS RN

4.5gr W231

1.130 COL

WSP

Mixed brass

Works good out of my G34 and I get just under 1100 ft/s.

4.1 grains Titegroup powder

124 grain Precision Delta FMJ/RN bullet

Federal Small Pistol #100 primers (also CCI #500 Small Pistol)

Overall Length 1.130

Mixed (very) brass

Velocity from a Glock 17 at 10' averages 1,074 FPS for a 133.176 Power Factor

I'm liking a 147gr Rainier plated FP over 3.4 grains of TiteGroup in my G17.

Whatever costs the least feels the best. Most of the components listed above

were birthday gifts. The load feels pretty frigin' good. :goof:

I down-loaded my 9mm Major round to Minor and it works fine:

125gr Zero 5.9gr HS6 1.15OAL

I chronoed it on my Chrony at 1050 fps out of my stock G34 barrel. Any less powder than that and it won't eject the brass all the way out of the gun. This is probably due to 1.15OAL versus 1.12OAL.

It still has more flip than AAA 9mm production ammo, but at least I don't have to change any settings on my press (except for the powder charge) to go from Minor back to Major - ok I'm lazy. :D

My current load is

147gr Frontier CMJ

3.9gr/Unique

WW primers

Mixed brass

OAL = 1.125"

PF = 137 from a G17

I nice soft push.

I have tried VV N320.

3.7gr under the 147gr CMJ listed above.

PF 133 from the G17.

Sounds and feels really light.

Sorry, I am a bit confused. Is that for 115 or 124? I load the same for 115s:)
