Tnbb33
Does anyone have a photo or schematic of a uspsa wall base they could share? Right now I think I want 2x2 walls with a metal base, if you run something similar I'd be interested in your design for the bases and any changes you would make to the design if you did them again. Open to other designs if there are better ones, but this seems to be pretty standard most places.
davidb72
We welded 2x4 steel channel to 2" flat stock about 16" long and had them powder coated. Works good for us and is easy to set up and store.
Nathanb
Our walls are similar but we use 2x2s. Little lighter and can use one base for L shaped and joining.

rishii
We use something similar, we also use 2x2's, but ours has 2 pieces of round tubing welded next to each other which allows the walls to be set up at any angle
fishhunter3
We just place T posts in ground and tie strap walls to them. easy to install and remove (with proper tools) and they don't take up much storage space
Tnbb33
Thanks for the replys everyone. Fishhunter that's some nice looking turf on that range. Edited August 1, 2017 by Tnbb33

Schutzenmeister
Larry I guess I'm out of the loop somewhat ... I didn't know there was anything in particular going on in G.F. Can you send me some information on the club, range location, matches, etc.? Mike Minot
fishhunter3
Mike The club in fargo's outdoor range, we now have 5 bays a 6th for shotgun only (3 gun), still no real pistol ranges in grand forks, we are getting an indoor range soon I'm told

MemphisMechanic
We use flat steel plate with three round tubes welded to it at MSSA (Memphis Sport Shooting Association) The wall's legs simply slide down into them, and it lets us create T intersections and the like quite easily. Most of the time we don't even need to stake them down. Edited August 4, 2017 by MemphisMechanic

telligentgunner
I'm trying to build portable walls for dry fire and live fire practice. What's better, standard or heavy duty snow fencing? And any reason to choose orange over black? Edited April 5, 2022 by telligentgunner
Schutzenmeister
HD will likely last longer, but it'll be a tad heavier than SD. Color shouldn't matter ... The practice value is the same.

broadside72
We use round tube that fits the 2x2's we use for walls. The tube is welded to a flat bar about 16" long. We have single, double and triple tube versions but mostly doubles. We prefer the round tubes so we can orient the walls any any direction and are not limited to 180 or 90 degree alignment

shred
10" long tubes are ok for tube-stands if the fit is decent. For 1" square steel tubing wall uprights, there's a pipe size (1-1/2" SCH 40) that fits well. Pipe is often cheaper than tube at steel suppliers. Put in a drain hole at the base if you store them outdoors.
