Fastest Bill Drill

I'd agree with jake, a production shooter regularly hitting 10 splits in a match is unlikely. in fact I don't see that many open shooters who rip sub 12s with any regularity, but as someone pointed out it doesn't mean they can't do it...

I would say something like a tuned CZ shadow can have a very nice sub 2lb SA trigger with only 2-3mm of reset and whilst not quite the same as a nice 2011 trigger it's very, very close.

looking at that video of Yong at the 2 minute mark he shoots down onto a close target. that 'felt' like maybe a 10 or sub 10 split to me? I guess shot coach is pretty accurate (I run all my training vids through it) though so I'll accept it was an 11 or higher.

Still given he can rip that speed in a match I would feel fairly safe he could dial it up a bit in practice, or (as someone called it) to perform a circus trick. :)

I've found this topic interesting. I believe that the 1 second bill is right at the limit of what a human can do with a semi-auto handgun but I'm enough of an optimist to believe it's possible,

There is a video on you tube I saw 1.11 I believe.

Couple things wrong with that one:

Bill drill is supposed to start wrists above shoulders, not hands at sides (not even really relaxed at sides, he is prepping his draw pretty hard).

Bill drill only "counts" if it is all alphas, not anywhere on a piece of 18" steel.

Not to discredit that run, he is insanely fast on the trigger. But it isn't a real Bill Drill.

The video, for those that are wondering:

SWEET BABY JEEZUS that's an insane run hahaha

Jake, I've been here a long time. And you've really put some great info out there for us all. Many others have too. But we thank you.

I'd like to train with you just one day. But the hard part is having the motivation it takes to do the work.

This thread is still alive? We still haven't gotten out 1.26 video though, or some on demand .1 or faster splits with a production, or any of the other claims here! I need video evidence!

Haha you're the man for the job! Follow you on instagram, love your stuff.
Haha well I hate to disappoint but while I can reload pretty decent i max out at about a .17 split. So I'm definitely not your guy!

koideath, that was pretty hot. granted I think many RO's wouldn't think that start would qualify as 'hands relaxed by sides' but it was close.

It's hard to get perspective on distance from vids but it looks like maybe 10 yards? with a bit closer you might be able to rip some faster splits.

On the weekend I managed to rip a couple of .12 and .13 splits and a couple of .20 transitions on a close array of IPSC 'classic' turtle targets. It was the last position on a medium size field course, target distance maybe 2 meters, typical array of 2 target stands right together each stand with target, no shoot, target. so a square of 4 targets with no shoots between. I went in bottom left, top left, top right, bottom right. managed to speed up a bit as I went across the top to get the 12 and 13 splits and the quick transitions in. That was about my current limit. Hit's suffered a little with 2 C's on the top targets which is pretty woeful when you can almost touch the target but I was happy with the speed. :)

That was with my CZ shadow which funnily enough I find I can hose close arrays faster with than I can with say my SV open gun. I think it might just be that it's a lighter/shorter gun and easier on the close point and shoot type stuff.

Anyway, I'm a hack shooter so I think one of the pro's out there could get close to the 1 sec goal.

This vid of max michel running a draw, 2 reloads and 16 shots in 4.79 makes me think max would have a shot at doing a sub 1 sec bill drill. or maybe Taran Butler? he like to run some interesting speed type challenges. :)

And, I was so proud of my 2.39 Bill drill after working on it for about 300 rounds worth the other day. After seeing the times posted, guess have a long way to go, though with a 1.24 draw I have some low hanging fruit.

Necro-thread alert.

Muneki actually shot it the fastest at nationals, but all those deltas certainly hurt his stage placement! He shot it in 1.53 at nats, but his 1.43 posted earlier in this thread is still the fastest I believe anyone has posted so far meets all the requirements, and is on video.

a 1.65 is my personal, mechanical limit right now. and that time gets me a bunch of C hits

1.85 is a bill drill i feel very happy with. 2.0 is the top of acceptable for me.

Just shot my new open gun for the first time yesterday in 30degree weather when the sun was going down. Figured what better way to put it to work than to shoot a couple Bill Drills. Shot 4 runs all under 2 seconds but just barely 1 C and the rest A's in 1.8-2seconds on 4 runs. I sighted it in first then went right to them, My index was slightly off since I had no dryfire time with it properly sighted in. I'm going to work these here and there to see how close I can come to you ballers running these crazy fast times. I dont know if it was the cold hindering my splits but it felt like I was capped at a measly .20 split range.

Shmella, are you saying that your gun is staying on target and the only thing slowing you down is your physical ability to work your trigger finger?  Lord, I wish I had that problem!  My fingers will do the occasional .10 and easily get .11, but the rest of me is nowhere near that speed on a consistent basis.  Sub 2.0 is pretty good shooting and Gooldy doing it in 1.54 is just ....freak of nature type stuff.

Essentially yes lol. Gun on target riping as fast as the trigger finger would go but was surprised by how slow that actually was lol. Draw was a little on the slow side 1.1- that could definitely come down (first time shooting a 2011 with a Deltapoint pro) maybe .18-.20 isnt a crazy slow split but it sure didnt sound too fast. Maybe I watch too many vids of ppl burning it down and expect to hear a machinegun like noise and see all alphas.

Editing to add: At the same time no. I have only live fire shot maybe 15 Bill drills ever so I dont think that is enough to say that my finger is the only thing holding me back from going faster. Lets just say the expectation I had of my fingers ability to go fast did not meet the outcome.

I'd love to be consistently ripping a 1.1 with .2 splits and all alphas.  Don't let the supermodels make you feel ugly!  I had the same problem this weekend when I was playing on the plate racks and couldn't match some of the times I was seeing posted.  I could very consistently finish under 4 seconds and even though I'd have been ecstatic about that a couple of years ago, I was upset.  I tried to get my mind right, but just couldn't.  Careful comparing to others!

I ended up moving all the way out to 35 yards and using my Grand Power P11 just to change to something where there was no comparison mark to get me down.  That little booger can shoot!  I had zero misses at 35 yards from my CCW pistol and cheapo ammo.  Pretty happy with that.
