You don't want to remove any from the sides of the forearm when you cut.

Why is this? I removed quite a bit from the sides of mine, mostly making it thinner, but also probably made it a little shorter. I haven't had any problems with it and it makes it much easier to not get the second set of shells in a quad load hung up.

Stability of the whole system. Unfortunately, the handguard is a "washer" that holds the barrel on. The side skirts help keep it centered. Much less of an issue with the New 3Gun version, or one with a Versa-Tube, but it can affect POI versus POA. As long as you have some that still has good contact on both sides of the receiver, you should be okay.

How's the new VM 3 Gun edition compare to the Beretta 1301 Comp.?

You might be better off comparing the 1301C to the VM Tactical after you add a mag tube to the 1301C. If you search, you will find plenty of comparison threads.

For those of you inquiring, the part number for the new lifter is: 409144

I couldn't find it on their parts site :-/

Because it is brand new. That is why I got the part number so folks could call Remington Parts and order it.

Did you purchase your VM Comp Tac from a dealer?

Not my gun. I was at the Acusport Distributors show and Remington had the gun available to shoot at the range event.

As far as I know the Competition models have not made it to dealers as of yet.
