I removed quite a bit from the sides of mine, mostly making it thinner, but also probably made it a little shorter. MarkCO Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Stability of the whole system. Unfortunately, the handguard is a "washer" that holds the barrel on. The side skirts help keep it centered. Much less of an issue with the New 3Gun version, or one with a Versa-Tube, but it can affect POI versus POA. I was at the Acusport Distributors show and Remington had the gun available to shoot at the range event. As far as I know the Competition models have not made it to dealers as of yet.
