leewhiskey
Here our stage count is usually dictated by how many bays the club has. 4-5 is normal, for weekday and weekend matches, difference being the weekend matches usually have more difficult stages because there is more setup time. Later in the year the few clubs holding weeknight matches will reduce the number of stages or make them shorter so we get done before dark. Mark R
We usually hold 5 stages per match, but soon (with our new range) will be going to 6 per match. Since most people will be driving 30 minutes or more for the match, we need to make it worth while.

TwoShot
We have a monthly match at a small club full of muzzle loaders and trap shooters, hence we have ONE pistol bay. We shoot a 4 stage match, tearing down and setting up in between stages. Yes, it is a pain in the butt, luckily I have a dedicated following of 15 to 18 shooters who always show up. lawboy
Of the four monthly weekend matches I shoot at three clubs, two matches are 5 stages one being a classifier, two matches are six stages, one being a classifier. Another club shoots a three-stage match but I do not frequent it as I do not find it enough shooting for the drive out there.

I have always lived in the desert and more than about 6 and we are shooting too long in the serious heat.
