No it will not effect scores, plus you don't have to sync scores, you can just sync the competitor info

Can you possibly get folks to preregister for the match? That way you could preload the scoring devices with those shooters. Obviously you'd still need to deal with those folks that did not register ahead of time, but hopefully that would be a small number of individuals. Do you have WiFi at the range?

I posted my query to see if anyone else had or was running into the problem. Figured if it was a widespread issue, I wouldn't bother bugging the folks at USPSA about it until I saw it working for others, but not me. I have no idea what Rob did to fix my situation, but it appears to have likely only fixed my issue.

it was the web file and even though it was late when I sent an email to USPSA, Rob fixed the issue and had me try again, which worked. Now that is excellent customer support.

Just tried to upload results to USPSA from a match at the beginning of Sept and got an "ERROR: INSERT INTO results_matches........". Tried to upload the webfile generated from version 1.682 (5) of Practiscore. Wonder if anyone else has run into this problem? Going to contact USPSA tomorrow about this issue.

I'm surprised no one has commented yet. I'm not aware of a canned way to do this with Practiscore. If you have some programming skills I guess you could periodically pull scores from the scoring devices and build a web page(s) to display the results. The data is there, just need to automate pulling it and parsing it. Not something currently in my skill set, but a few folks on here definitely have those skills and may already be doing it. I manage scoring for several large matches a year. A display showing constantly updated results would be nice, but since I'm the only one managing all aspects of scoring, not sure how useful it would be given the work needed to set it up and troubleshoot if problems. My work around is to have an ad hoc WiFi network with all scoring devices on that network. I pull scores back to a master devices about every 5 minutes. Then every half hour or so I post those results to Practiscore, so folks can use their phones to look at things.

Now that we are an official Steel Challenge club, all plates are white and the stop plate post is yellow. The use of yellow harkens back to when we only had Outlaw matches. Back then they painted the actual plate yellow, so it kind of stuck. We have a large number of shooters each match who are unfamiliar with the Steel Challenge stages, so it helps to just say, always shoot the plate on the yellow post last.

At a Level II or higher match I'd rather they don't, as for one thing, plaques have been ordered for the various division passed on number of competitors in each class. People start changing divisions and now you potentially have plaques you can't award, not enough competitors in that class/division combo and/or missing plaques as you now have enough competitors in a class/division combo.There are other things that come up when competitors start changing divisions last minute, that cause extra work for an already over worked staff. As for local matches, I have no problem with folks changing the morning of the match, but at check-in that morning, I do expect them to inform the staff of the change.

Yes, not having the ability as a MD to lock the match down so competitors can't change division and/or squad is a must have. I like you have looked at all conceivable means to lock the match, but nothing works.

Just go to the App Store app and use it to update the Practiscore app. The update should not delete your scores.

Have seen ROs at local matches call hits/misses for preteens, new shooters and a couple of older gentlemen that have poor eyesight and are nearly deaf. In the cases mentioned I have mixed feels. On the one hand I want to help the new shooters and those with physical issues, but on the other hand, when you start bending the rules, where do you draw the line. At a sanctioned match I think we should follow the rules to the letter, for everyone. Calling hits/misses and other coaching should be left for training sessions and non sanctioned matches.

Hmm, we must be the odd club out there. About half of our shooters are grabbing the ongoing scores on their phones during a match to see what their buddies are doing on the other squads. I even do it myself from time to time. I haven't had any problems with the Master Nook getting screwed up from any of this as the shooters are merely "syncing" with the local/stage Nook or the ones in the next bays. AD I never said it would cause an issue with scoring, it's more an issue of I have better things to do then answering tons of questions on how to sync. Also we collect email and phone number info during registration of each competitor to be used by the MD. Some competitors have asked that their info not be made public. By offering syncing, that info would be available to anyone who sync'd.

But SCSA/USPSA aren't the ones supplying the prizes nor do they help matches get sponsors, etc. Matches also have to pay to advertise in Front Sight, so membership money isn't even helping with that. The matches also have to pay per shooter to upload the scores. I help run what was the biggest official Steel Challenge match in the country in 2015, and I can tell you from experience that SCSA membership dues are in no way going back to support the matches. I really hope that changes under the new guard. Now we are getting very off topic from the original post Yes, we are off topic and I'm fully aware that USPSA/SCSA contribute nothing to a prize table at a match, but they do contribute to making the sport possible.

I think folks should have to be members to shoot at Level II or higher matches. You want the benefits of shooting bigger matches with prizes and such, well you don't get them for free.

Syncing just pulls information from a device, it does not have the ability to change information on the device it requested to sync with. The MD clearly had another issue and allowing an other device(s) to sync with the Master was not the issue. Any number of things could have caused his issue, but I seriously doubt it was an issue caused by Practiscore app, more then likely it was self induced. Every club is different, but all that I've been to, do not allow anyone other then stats staff to sync their device to the Master or any other scoring device. At all of our local matches, folks can find their scores on the Practiscore website once the match is completed. Typically I have the scores posted about 5 minutes after the last scoring device is turned in. At large matches, like a Level II match, I sync from all the scoring devices about every 5 minutes and then post those collected scores to Practiscore, generally every 30 minutes.

I like that idea, keeps things simple and would use plates clubs should already have.
