  1. Over the years I have Purchased 2 M&P 15-22's. I am left handed. The first is setup like my 3 gun rifle for short range practice. The second, I purchased for my left handed grandsons to shoot, you can't ignore the cool factor. On both these guns the thumb safety was molded so that it was reversible for right or left hand operation. Two months ago I purchased a third rifle for rimfire rifle optic shooting in local steel challenge matches. The safety on the most recent rifle is not reversible. I contacted S&W, the rep said he would send me a reversible safety. The one I received was not. A second call to S&W and a different rep told me he didn't know much about the rifle but would find out and call me back. A few days later the rep did call back and told me it was a patent infringement issue and they had to stop making the reversible safety. If you are a lefty and want a left hand safety, you will now have to go to an after market part. A standard Ambi safety will not work on the 15-22 as the lower is thicker. I purchased a BAD 15-22 compatible safety that works well.
  2. I sincerely appreciate your reply and information!
  3. Several months ago I ordered 2 Grams Basepads and some springs. Got a call from Mr. Grams basically saying their basepad tooling was worn out. They were working on new tooling. At the time they did send me the springs I needed. A month or more ago I sent an email asking for a status update and got no reply. I checked their website and the basepads are still listed, reordered, no reply. Does anyone know what is going on? Service from Grams engineering in the past has always been first rate.
  4. Jerry won the 1990 Nationals at Barry with a Tasco dot. There was a lady shooter, I believe Canadian, with an Aimpoint on her open gun. Team Springfield shot the P9 with open sights in the 9mm JLE. The JLE was "just long enough" i.e. 9X21, to be legal as 9X19 major was illegal with the 175 power factor.
  5. I drink Woodford Reserve as my go to bourbon. When I want to celebrate I drink Woodford Double Oaked. When I crave something different it's Redbreast Irish Whiskey.
  6. I got an email from JP this afternoon. If I return the broken firing pin, they will replace it free of charge.
  7. I was cleaning my carbine and decided to disassemble the bolt after 400 rounds, 3000 total thru the gun. To my surprise the firing pin came out in 2 pieces. Maybe it broke on round 1 or maybe round 400, I don't know. There were no malfunctions of any kind since the last time I cleaned the bolt. I have ordered a replacement and a spare. If you have one of these carbines you may want to check the firing pin and keep a spare handy. I called JP and emailed, haven't heard back. This is the first issue with the gun. I am still very pleased with its performance.
  8. I have an XDM OSP in 9mm. The gun has a Powder River drop in trigger kit. I shoot a 130pf load with 147 grain SnS bullets. I have a Powder River solid guide rod, still using the factory recoil spring. I am looking for suggestions on recoil spring weight to calm the dot down.
  9. I re-sent my info and got the discount in an hour or so. The MSA's are ordered, should have them on Tuesday.
  10. My JP GMR 13 has a very slow barrel I guess. I use 3.4 grains of Titegroup under a Zero 147 hp.
  11. I believe they are different companies.
  12. Anyone have any experience with DS Arms products? I am looking at a complete upper in 300 blackout. Not planning on completing with it, just to have one. Thanks!
  13. My reloads with Titegroup and 147 grain bullets are slower in my 14.5 inch JP barrel than a 5.25 inch XDM.
  14. I traded for an XDM OSP to shoot Carry Optics. With a Leupold Deltapoint Pro the gun is very accurate. The trigger leaves a lot to be desired, it's long, heavy with a long reset. Are people installing trigger kits or sending the guns out for work? Carry Optics is a pleasant sidebar for me when not shooting Open. I don't want to put hundreds in the trigger. What say you!
  15. I am a lefty, I had this PCC belt pouch made for me by Gut Level Gear. The mag sits at about a 40 degree angle up from the belt with a Blade tech attachment. It's my design, an email or two and this is what GLG came up with.
  16. I have a JP GMR 13. I am left handed. I get a sandblast effect on my face using slow burning powder like AA-7 and HS-6. I tried Titegroup with 147 grain bullets and nothing is hitting me in the face anymore.
  17. Can the XDM 5.25 slide be milled for a Deltapoint Pro? Who and how much?
  18. I am interested in this too. Website says the mount is not for the pro.
  19. I have 33 round Glock mags with Dawson basepads and the factory spring that hold 37. Same mags with the Taylor - Freelance +10 pad and TF spring hold 41. The Glock mags I bought have a 31 round tube and factory +2 extension which you must remove to install the extended basepads.
  20. I am using the Burris FF3 with the 3 minute dot, mounted with the AR-F3 mount on my JP 9mm carbine. This sight has performed well for me in both USPSA and Outlaw steel matches. I have had no problem with the Burris sight holding up. I have another FF3 that lives on an R&R Saiga open shotgun, After over 4000 rounds of birdshot, buckshot and slugs it has never lost zero or failed in and way.
  21. My experiences with loads for my JP 9mm carbine are as follows. My first shots were with some inexpensive factory loads to test function, everything worked fine. Next I tried some 124 grain lead and jacketed bullets I loaded with AA7 years ago to 125fp. Function and accuracy were fine, I am left handed. My right cheek felt like I was being sand blasted. Same thing with 147 coated bullets loaded with HS-6, still getting hit in the face. I got hold of some Titegroup and loaded the 147 coated bullets,3 grains, to 130pf, chronographed them in my SA 5.25 pistol. Shot these loads in the carbine, soft shooting, great accuracy, nothing hitting my face. I thought I had found my load that would work for Production and PCC. After 300 rounds thru the carbine, the bore looked great, not so much for the comp. It was severely leaded. Round two, 147 jacketed and Titegroup. 3 grains of Titegroup and 147 Zero bullets gave me 852 fps in the SA 5.25 pistol, no problem, I will get more velocity out of the longer carbine barrel. Same load in the 14.5 inch carbine barrel chronographed 765 fps average. I ended up with 3.4 grains of Titegroup with the 147 jacketed in the carbine to get an average velocity of 879 fps. The same 3.4 load chronographed in the pistol averaged 935 fps. These results were the result on 2 repetitions, 6 rounds per rep. I was surprised that I didn't get a velocity increase in the carbine. Not trying to tell anyone what to do, just reporting my experiences. When I can, I want to chronograph the coated bullet load in the carbine and see if it is also slower than the pistol.
  22. Carbine arrived at the dealer on Friday, June 24. That's a few days shy of 15 weeks from the time I got confirmation they had my payment and my FFL's info. Unfortunately I had to be out of town so the first trip to the range will take place later today or tomorrow. The fit and finish looks first rate.
