LPatterson
The Patriot Act. The fool next door who sees my guns and tells the cops I am a threat to them. After 23 years in the military I don't trust the Goverment.
Duane Thomas
I wouldn't call it irrational, but I've nearly drowned twice in my life. Drowning would have to be right at the top on my "fears" list.
Duane Thomas
Heights...anything more than 3 feet off the ground is out of the question. You should have seen me on the 300 foot training tower... Ron, I had no idea: you were Airborne, too?
ErikW
But the insects don't have any reason to sting you. It's like being afraid of wolves or mountain lions. Heights, spiders, bees... c'mon, you're holding out on me. Tightloop, don't be afraid to admit you're afraid of clowns.
Run n Gun
Yeah it’s heights with me too. I REALLY believe that old adage “the bigger they are the harder they fall”! Hell, I don’t even like being as tall as I am… Ed

John Dunn
Flex, LMAO, reminded me of the Cheers episode where Woody talks about repressing his anger in Indiana.."I just keep pushing it down and pushing it down." Frasier, "Tick, tick..." Cracks me up.

spook
- Big spiders (small ones up to 2" don't bother me) - Sharks (actually, that's one of those phobias I can invoke by thinking about it too much. I won't go near dark water when I think of Jaws) - Saw a documentairy once about the African naked mole rat (Heterocephalus glaber). They have a queen that breeds underground. She swells up (up to the point where the skin almost becomes transparant) and gives birth to about 25 little ones. That really gave me the willies - Saw another documentairy about Surinam toads (Pipa pipa) (yes, I really like wildlife documentairies ) After mating the female toad will carry the eggs IN her back (yes under the skin) I'll quote some stuff I found on the net: "Amplexus takes place over a period of days (the exact period varies). Afterwards the eggs sink gradually into the female's back, and the skin pad solidifies to a kind of stiff crust with "windows" over the eggs. The developed froglets are visible inside their pockets for several days before hatching. They emerge over a period of days, thrusting their head and forelegs out first, then struggling free." Soooo, what are my phobias? Mostly gross stuff combined with small animals

spook
Dude, you've gotta stay the heck away from the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet... Problem is that most of the stuff they show is great. Steve Anderson
yeah, they encroach on my space and invoke level III claustrophobia. When I try to move em around they just come after me with a greater resolve. I LOVE the new Hampton Inn shower curtains with the outward hoop. Much better. I travel a lot... SiG Lady
Well, and showers/shower curtains became a national phobia there for a while right after the release of Psycho the movie... But people don't talk about it any more like they used to......
