  1. It's almost been 6 months now. Quit the nicotine lozenges 2 months ago and they were easy compared to cigarettes. The frequency of the cravings has diminished but I still want one. I probably always will.
  2. The points were not availible to the shooter when he shot a stage prior to the bump to Open. Y'all are trying to give them something that is not there.

  4. I never knew that scented laundry detergent actually left scent in the laundry. Couldn't smell it. I went to a bar last Saturday night. Came home, went to bed. Next morning, hopped in the shower and went back to my bedroom. I'm thinking WTF is that smell? It's my clothes I had on in the smokey bar. Went to bed Sunday night and again, I'm like whats that smell? It's my pillow, I guess from my hair. Things I never knew.
  5. 9 weeks as of yesterday. The cravings are still as strong but the frequency of them has diminished.

  9. I don't care if someone puts a thumb rest on their Limited just as I don't care if they put one on their Open gun. I don't use one on my Open gun either.

  11. I got this! This morning was the first morning where I had that thought! At this point, my original motivations are not as important as my current ones. 1) I will not go through day 1,2 &3 again! 2) Pride. This will not beat me!
  12. HAHA! My brain tells me that lie every minute or so!

  14. I'm still skeered to have a drink! I was at 2+ packs a day. They are about $5.50 a pack now...
  15. Well, I have made it to day 7! It still is not easy. I was around a bunch of smokers Friday night and I refused to succumb to temptation! Woooooo it was hard, but that really helped my confidence.
  16. My last smoke was Sunday night. After 40 years of at least 2 packs a day I have quit. My body is still in full blown withdrawals and my head keeps lying to me but I am very determined to beat this. I had an ashtray on my front porch that had some nasty soggy butts in it. Wednesday I found myself actually trying to convince myself to light one. Making the decision was easy compared to keeping it. I still want to choke a m$&%@#f^@%#!!!
  17. I agree that I would really have to see the stage to see the angle of the target, width of the passage, etc, but here is how I see the argument. You gained time by cutting across. By cutting across the open area, you were better able to line up your shots which gave you an advantage. You weren't more than one step further away than you would have been had you stayed within the boundary you weren't really "further away". To me the three things add up to a significant advantage. I agree with this.
  18. Wrong. You did by your own admission gain an advantage. Nobody is talking about "punishing you for gaming" the stage. If there was no advantage, why did you do it?
  19. Why? Because it's too hard? Because what is "too hard"? Coming up with a definition of "significant advantage"? Maybe that is why there isn't a definition in the rulebook. I agree with Stack. If NROI can't define the term, why should the ROs have to do it on the fly? Either you faulted or you didn't. This fluffy business of "significant advantage" is rife with opportunities for unfair application from different ROs. You can't define significant advantage in the rulebook -- because it is stage dependent. What is a significant advantage on stage 1, is an insignificant advantage on stage 2.... The rules writers recognized that there were problems with blanket decisions, i.e. single penalty approach and per shot fired approach. Sometimes per shot is absolutely required to mitigate an advantage gained; other times anything more than a single penalty is beating the shooter about the head with the rulebook... Hence, we have what we have. At level 2 and up matches this isn't an issue -- because of the dedicated staff, who can make sure they're calling it the same way every time.... At level 1 matches with embedded ROs it is an issue -- but one that can be addressed by the WSB, or during the walkthrough....
  20. Why? Because it's too hard? (I totally buy that at a level 1 match with embedded ROs a blanket decision may be the fairest -- at least on a stage by stage basis....) No. Because the shooter was have been able to engage the target earlier by his own description. Advantage. If I was the King, any area outside the shooting area would be treated as if it were not there when it comes to shooting. As in the edge of a building. Not there so you can't use it to shoot from. If it is not an advantage to fault a line, why are you doing it?
  21. Yet another prime example of why "significant advantage" should go away. If I was on the timer you would have received one per.
