  1. There is a lot of labor time in making it look as good as it shoots. You can find some lesser known gunsmiths to build customs cheaper, but you'll want to see examples of their work first.
  2. Yes, exactly the same Bomar cut. Sight slid snug into a an STI slide with Bomar cut.
  3. When you can pick up an Alpha by throwing the gun towards the target (usually make ups for shots that weren't so good)it is fun to watch. Not ideal, but fun to watch. I did that twice on a stage at the Buckeye challenge 2 yrs ago. Didn't like the last shot on paper as I was leaving the position, threw the extra shot at it. 3 alphas were the result on both targets I re-engaged. My lesson learned was trust. If you think you saw a good shot, trust your front sight. As you get better/more experience at speed you'll develop a range that you can confortably point-shoot at. After trying to hose the Front Sight classifier, I've confirmed my range is at least 7 yards. If I can see even just a flash of front sight, I know the hits will be there.
  4. I tried a .090 but the front walked around within the notch too much for me. I run a .110 front with .115 notch. If I can see the front sight, it's aligned in the notch.
  5. Corey and I both shoot L10 on occasion. Usually with a SS and 8 round mags. At least 8 rounders for me. Not too much difference unless the stage is steel heavy.
  6. I've never heard of notching the hammer to retain the pin. Remove old hammer, drive out strut pin, install strut and pin in new hammer, install new hammer, test. Now the sear/hammer relationship...now that's a different story. You can find disassembly videos on youtube.
  7. I've built a couple of strokers, a good gunsmith with a mill should be able to duplicate your existing slide. That is if Dawson can't get to it.
  8. I've loaded close to 10k rounds of Glocked .40 brass (nickle cases) through my SDB. I don't do any other steps. Clean, lube, load. I would suggest trying the press first before spending money on other gadgets. I don't think the M&P's have tight chambers.
  9. Wow, we must work for the same people. I was going to post "cool beans". Noticed it was the second post! HA. My retort is always, "yep, cooool legumes".
  10. True, a Tech9 does not conceal well. Like carrying a Scorpion in an ankle rig. There are 9mm pistols on the market now that are nearly as small as .380's.
  11. Ah, and if there already hasn't been quotes started, there needs to be. .."where gonna need a sh!! load a dimes!"
  12. Looks like a great way to get bolt guns on the 'ban list'. Nice though.
  13. Yep. Those are some DEEP primer hits too. They look like your firing pin tip is flat. Do you run a light recoil spring? Hyperdrive length FP?
  14. The grey polishing wheel that comes with the Dremel, it's about 1 inch diameter (or slightly less), screws onto the shaft. I take those and turn them down to fit the chamber. Works very well, just don't go into the throat. These do remove metal quickly if you are too aggressive with it.
  15. Did you run a reamer in the LW barrel? They have tight chambers.
  16. The rear fixed is a Novak cut. The front is Wilson specific. Brownells sells the Wilson sights. 60*x.300x.070 dovetail. It's deeper than a Heinie/STI cut.
  17. I've also noticed a trend that the Pro models are actually more accurate. I've seen quite a few FS models with marginal accuracy (larger than 4" groups at 25y). Every Pro I've shot has been great in comparison. I would still have the Apex kit installed to the Pro, then once you shoot limited reduce the pretravel.
  18. 1/10th scale R/C Short Course Trucks. My son and I race at organized tracks. I used to race cars, motorcycles, tried karting for a short bit. Now I have kids.
  19. I tested 4 brand new ones, only one locked the bolt back. To me, that wasn't a deal breaker. They functioned semi, auto, burst etc. They just wouldn't lock back reliably.
  20. Hmm. A .315 tall with a .115 rear notch? I have a .325 tall now, but it shoots 4" high at 25. If I could cut that in half, that would be great.
  21. I was carrying a cut down 2011 Tactical (VIP size) but found it heavy and cumbersome for daily wear. It just got heavier and heavier every day. Plus riding in a car was not comfortable. The M&P compact in 9mm with the thumb safety now rides OWB via Alessi snap on leather holster, every day. I was looking for something smaller, but I think the M&P 9c is a good compromise between size and usefullness. Any smaller and I think the shootability suffers.
  22. I had a good run at Production recently, very fun. Shot it to improve my classification and shot quite a few matches including a few majors. It's like single stack but with less recoil. SS is also fun because I enjoy the 8 round stage break down. My 1911 fits my hand like nothing else. I used to shoot Limited a lot too, haven't shot it in over a year though. I'm looking forward to shooting the fatty again, it will be weird to go 20 rounds nonstop.
