  1. This, and remember that SV parts are machined from billet in house (in Texas!), not MIM and far less prone to breakage.
  2. I added a new (to me) Infinity Single Stack in .40 over the weekend to go with my Infinity open gun.
  3. I use the SV 170 tubes with Taran pads, SV 140 tubes with Dawson pads, and I've used both grams and Taran guts in either. All 170's hold 29 reloadable and all 140's get 23 reloadable easily.
  4. It's actually not that bad on the aggressive while shooting. You can ask that they knock down the tips before coating/bluing which DOES help make it less sharp, I've shot SV's with the aggressive grips both ways and prefer them knocked down a tad. My current SV has a one-off grip, kinda like the 187 but smaller diamonds and while it feels like it's not that grippy at first while shooting it DOES NOT MOVE, no pro-grip or anything, it's awesome.
  5. Not sure about timing but you should be able to change it up until they have to cut the rails on the frame... Lots of frames made without S/N's out there but they have to get a S/N once they cut the rails.
  6. Sweet, congrats... now get better pics please.
  7. I use the manual single marker version of the Mr. Shooter tool cause it was much cheaper. I also use blue Dykem on the bottom of all my brass once it's in my 100 rd box and they have a red ring from the marker. I do it mainly because I shoot 38SC and usually squad with 5-7 other guys also shooting 38SC and we all have our own different color combos and all help each other pick up brass. The marking certainly make it easier to find them and it really doesn't take much time to do it, the dykem takes like 20 seconds per 100 and the ring gets done while I watch TV or do something else... or have your kid do it for you.
  8. I've used both and have the RTS2, been shooting it all year with no issues. I miss the knob on top to turn on/off the dot for the old style c-more but I like that the RTS2 is lower to the slide although you'll need some dryfire to learn to find the dot and bring the gun up higher. I don't feel like there is any real difference while shooting, except that the sight is closer to the bore and it makes the gun feel a little smaller.
  9. If it works... V4, if not, who knows. Just kidding... As stated above. (I love my RTS2 for the record)
  10. It will certainly be closer to 15 months than 12, but well worth it in the end.
  11. That pic above is what Chris Tilley uses (think that's him in the pic), you might try calling up the people at Go Shoot and ask where he got it. There's a better pic of it on his new gun in the link below. http://www.sviguns.com/zenphoto/Open-Guns/#14
  12. You can buy the parts from them and have a local smith do it, but will likley void any warranty you have. I assume you're trying to go from 9mm to .40 based on your info above so I'd say you need a breachface, extractor, ejector, barrel, and maybe bushing depending on your gun. If it's a factory SV, that already runs perfect, ask yourself if it's worth it to void the warranty or have anyone other than Brandon (perfectionist, almost annoyingly so, but perfectionist) fit that gear to your gun.
  13. Good looking gun Trace! I love my Benelli Super Sport.
  14. Mine is carbon steel with a CRN PVD coating... looks stainless, but it's not.
  15. I use their tubes, but TT and Dawson pads for simplicity at range, and either TT or Grams followers/springs depending on what's in stock when I needed to order more as both have been 100% for me.
  16. Totally agree... STOP IT! Get it working then work on YOU, not the gun.
  17. SC all the way, more reliable! Yes 9mm brass is cheap IF you get stuff from a reputable source that you KNOW is only once fired factory loads. You don't want to reload 9mm major. Then there's the issue of reliability. Any local match I go to 90% + of the open gun problems are with the 9mm guys, not the 38SC guys. I bought 3k pieces of 38SC brass new from Starline last year and shot a few lost brass big matches and still have over 1500 untouched pieces with about 700 in rotation for loaded rounds. I shoot them until I find a sign of weakness and pick up roughly 80% of what I shoot plus I'm lucky in that I've shot with a few guys that buy new brass and don't pick up so I get some once fired for free. I've gone through over 5500 projectiles for the 3k brass I bought in the last year and only used 1500... so let's assume 3.7 loads per piece of used brass. So at that pace, right now, my brass actually cost me about $275 total or $0.09/round (since I've only loaded half 3+ times) and I can get way more out of it than that. I know for sure I've loaded the same pieces over 10x each and the first problem I found was loose primers when I was using 115g projectiles and too hot of a load. Every time you reuse a piece of brass, you halve the cost of it which is way better than 9mm in the long run if you're willing to pick it up. Not to mention the wider range of powders and optic mounts.
  18. SV grip... SV mags. All of mine are 100% out of the box no matter what spring/follower/basepad I put on them and I've run Grams, SVI, and TT springs/followers with any combination of Dawson, TT, SVI base pads. The only time I've ever had an issue was using an (older style STI 170) tube in a SVI. In fact, I just got two new tubes today that I put TT guts in with Dawson pads. The craftsmanship is amazing, you have to look inside to see where it was welded together and even then it's a damn nice weld with no pinholes at all.
  19. Supercomp is where it's at... MOST people at local matches here run it and we all hate picking up super from the 1-2 guys that shoot it as it will jam up our presses if we happen to miss one in the sorting. Better feeding without worrying about rounds getting caught in the mag and cost isn't really any different than super, you still gotta buy the brass. As long as your gun runs it, SC all the way. If not, get it tuned to run it so that I don't have to pick up anymore super.
  20. That is a bit bigger/brighter for sure! Easy to spot... I finally put a new battery in my 6MOA and what a difference, so much brighter. It seems to be a more gradual fall off than the slide ride but with a new battery it's awesome, no worries.
  21. Just go open if that's what works for you and your eyes. I'm teaching my boys with a dot on a 22/45 but I also plan to teach them irons and shotguns so they will just have to learn to adapt to the tool and choose the right tool for the job.
  22. Absolutely, MANDATORY when using thumb shields either SVI style or thumb safety style as the sight mount gets in the way without it... and then there's the table starts. You're leaving an advantage just sitting there for a table start if you don't have one. (IMO)
  23. Strange, I've had my new SVI with a RTS2 for 4 weeks now I think and after a few practice sessions, 2 matches, and tons of dry fire with the dot being left on for hours at a time I just noticed yesterday during practice that it's likely time for a new battery. I'll replace it this week (maybe tonight if I get time to clean it, damn kids).
