Looks for Target

Looks for Target (4/11)

  1. Something to think about, if you buy new 9mm brass all head-stamped the same you'll likely have fewer issues than running mixed once-fired (and have to trust that it was truly once fired and not previously 9mm major). Then if you do that, you'd be paying a premium for single use brass. If you are willing and able to pick up your brass then you halve the cost of the .38SC each time you reload it. I've personally loaded the same brass over a dozen times before any wear was noticeable shooting major out of my SV. If you're willing to pick it up, it's better in the long run. Not to mention the powder options that you now have using 38SC (I prefer 3n38) that wouldn't be possible to make major in 9mm due to volume.
  2. lol, I was shocked it wasn't the first response! I have two SV's, an open gun and a Single Stack and I'll likely order more. I've been to the factory and seen how they are made and I do not believe any other gun manufacturer can compare. Everything but the optic is made in Texas out of either Steel, Aluminum, or Titanium billet and is machined in house, even the screws and mag springs. There is SO MUCH detail in each and every part, and the workmanship is what sets them apart from everyone else. Also, they are not gunsmiths, they are a manufacturer so comparing gunsmiths to them isn't apples to apples as they have to buy other companies frames, slides, parts, etc.
  3. Very nice! What is the weight with a full mag?
  4. Ahoy Bird,

Are you the friend to Kevin that I sold my Para 16-40 to? I need him to contact me as I found some support stuff for the Para I'd like to give him. I cleaned out my delete folder a while back and that information is now living in the ether belt. Thanks in advance.

      Ahoy Bird,

Haven't been here myself for a long time. Ran into a buzz saw of medical issues that I won't bore you with. Anyway, I found a few small original parts for the Para I have no need for; best of which is a pair of replacement springs for the Aftec extractor. Send me a mailing address to 45ron40@gmail.com and I'll be happy to send them along.

I trust the Para is providing you as much enjoyment as it did for me. I was knocking on the A class door before I got seduced by revolvers.  Still have the 625 Performance Center that took me into A class. Had Randy at Apex do his competition trigger / hammer job ( 5 lb DA pull) and several other upgrades. Top of the revo food chain before they allowed the "little" guns. Also still have about 1200 loaded rounds w/ pre flattened Federal primers to get 100% ignition. Ah, the good old days. Hero to zero in one stroke of the pen.  If you know of somebody interested in an IDPA tool, let me know.

      Thx,

      Ron Moore

  5. .40 makes the most sense for the reasons already listed, but just start a WTB ad in the classifieds here and I'm sure someone will part with a Trojan or something.
  6. What problem did you solve with the high mag catch? I've got a SVI SS in .40 that runs perfect with Tripp mags and 8 rounds, but when I try to load 9 or 10 (depending on which follower I use in the Tripp 10rd mags) it just nosedives on the feed ramp and won't chamber. I'd really like to get at least 9 in there so I don't have to barney up. Just not sure if I'd need to go up or down on the mag catch?
  7. Actually with Infinity (and most other manufacturers) and their PVD coatings, or blueing, they are fully prepared and ready to go before coating... Coating is the last thing before final assembly. The coating is just showing the finish underneath it be it polished, brushed, or blasted (how they do the designs like mine).
  8. Prototype, there won't be a hole there for production guns with this setup I'm positive...
  9. Dealers do the supporting after the sale... NOT Lexus, Entirely different scenario outside of a recall.
  10. So far I've seen mentions of gun smiths that would support their product 5 years or more after it's been delivered, but what Manufacturer would do that? None that I can think of. And keep in mind that they have long wait times on new guns, and they do stand behind their products with great warranties, but still, this isn't warranty work so it shouldn't count. I think 5 years is fair given the amount of changes to the manufacturing process that happens, tooling, materials, etc.
  11. Are you looking for the back (nearest the breachface) or sides (perpendicular to the breachface)? Or both?
  12. So when the gun/feed-ramp is clean (before the first shot) it was like 50/50 on the 10th round. The more you shoot the less it works with even 9 rounds. 8 rounds always works, no issues ever with 8 rounds in the mag. I got a corey-hybrid follower from Tripp and even dirty it feeds the 9th round so in this gun I've abandoned the idea of major/minor and will just go major as it's more points too. I went ahead and ordered 4 more mags at 9rd each with aluminum basepads, so should be good to go. I really wish it was more reliable with 10rds but whatever...
  13. In addition to the breechface, it's 100% home made in TX, USA.
