  1. DPP 7.5moa for me. I’ve got three of them and they all have been excellent in terms of performance and battery life. I’ve also got an RTS2 on my open gun - I like the brightness of the dot but it definitely eats batteries in a hurry.
  2. Nitrofin works great for me.

    RTS2: 8moa DPP: 7.5moa
  4. 9# Wolff for major and 8# Wolff for minor in my MatchMaster 9mm.
  5. Thx all. After talking with a local PCC guru I decided to go with CFE Pistol which burns a little cleaner. I tested from 3.6gr up to 4.2gr and settled on 4.0gr. Chronoed at 941fps and 138 PF with good dot retention and lively (read: not sluggish) feeling.
  6. Last season I wore my trusty Salomon Quest 4D 3 GTX boots - great boots and a very popular option around my area. Salomons have always fit me well so I did some searching within the brand and found the X Ultra Trek GTX. It’s basically the same boot but a few ounces lighter. So far through about 6 weeks and several matches (as well as hiking with my pooches) I’m very happy with them.
  7. I go with denatured alcohol and a cotton swab after every match/practice. Also clean the projection lense (or whatever it’s called).
  8. Thanks guys. Yes PP can be a flamethrower for sure. I’m going to give it a try and see how it feels.
  9. I bought an STI Match Master with no optic (but it did have an RTS2 Brazos Mount) that I picked up here on Enos for $2,100. My gunsmith tweedled it a little, I added a Zig racker and bought an RTS2. So, I’m into it for about $25-2,600 and it runs like a champ. Zero malfunctions through 4,000 rds (jinx!) and it’s my fav pistol. I think your first open gun should not break the bank but should give you an idea of what you like/don’t like b4 you dump a wad on a high dollar custom.
  10. I just acquired a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 with a 16.25” barrel (with faux suppressor) and have some 147gr Precision Delta FMJ RN bullets on the way. I’ve got about 5lbs of Power Pistol on hand and would like to use that for my loads. Does anybody have data I could use as a starting point? Or, if PP is a bad choice for some reason, what other powder would be preferable? My aim is to have a soft shooting load for steel and USPSA.
  11. As others have said, if you know a local shooter that has one for sale its great because they can give you tips on loads/bullets and OALs they've tried. Almost all open shooters handload to customize the "feel" and sight tracking of the pistol. Also, most of these guns need some tweaking to get them running consistently when new (mag/ejector tuning etc.). Unless you are fairly skilled and knowledgeable or have a gunsmith as a friend then they can be very frustrating until you can make them function reliably. A used gun from someone you know usually has the kinks worked out.
  12. Red Hill Tactical has some nice ones too. Though you'll have to wait a few weeks to get them.
  13. When I built my first AR I put a 1MOA Holosun dot on it. When sighting a target 100 yds out I would see a cluster of dots rather than a single dot. I had lasik surgery about 15 years ago to correct astigmatism and have been told by others that is the reason for the cluster effect. I replaced the dot with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1 X 6 and am very happy with it.
