  1. Ah... it works great and doesn't feel like the cheese grater that is the aggressive grip. I've only got 500-600 rounds through it but so far no complaints at all.
  2. Coming from an Infinity signature with aggressive micro pockets this one feels very smooth... But, the grip is still great and it doesn't slip at all. I don't really notice it being that much smaller, but when I picked it up I think Brandon said it was .020 or .030 slimmer than any other right to left and I don't recall what he said it was front to back but if you want me to measure it I will.
  3. My new infinity has the signature grip and the smallest circumference possible, it's the first one they've done in that size I believe but you'd have to discuss those options with them in a gunbuilder (or call and ask if you can buy just the grip if that's what you want).
  4. It helps for sure, it's not magic or anything but it certainly makes it easier to remove if you have to scrape anything out. Like I said though, using the JHP Bullets with 3n38 there really isn't any noticeable lead in the comp so it's easy to keep clean.
  5. Such a nice looking gun, and thanks for the education as you guys are the "poster child" for the gun control nuts here.
  6. I got my new SV Infinity a couple of weeks ago and finally took a few pics of my own and decided to post them as well as pics from the factory. This thing is AMAZING.
  7. Try a sonic jewelry cleaner (your wife will LOVE IT) and it gets most of it out with just water but I'm using 3n38 and JHP MG bullets.
  8. I haven't used the EGW kit but I have used the SVI ignition kit and the trigger was outstanding as a drop in, felt like a factory Infinity trigger with minimal fitting. The only issue was the safety had to be fitted to it, otherwise it was drop in and excellent.
  9. To each his own... your money, your gun. I'm of the opinion that if you buy a Ferrari then complain about a few cents difference in cost between premium and regular gas, you've only got yourself to blame when/if it goes wrong. There's also far more malfunctions in 9mm open than 38 open at the matches I attend weekly. Another way to look at it is this... if you try to order a new SVI tomorrow, they won't make 9x19 major at all. That's a clue in my opinion.
  10. It's their gun, and their choice... and yes, the people I know who shoot 9 major buy once fired range brass from a reputable seller and DO NOT pick anything up. Every match is lost brass for them so they do not divide the cost on every reload. I do not know anyone who shoots 9 major that would ever pick up 9mm brass from a USPSA match, and that's what I would caution against. Again, my math is based on the physical ability as well as the willingness to pick up your brass... it is far cheaper to load 38SC if you are willing and able to pick it up.
  11. I would caution against reusing open 9mm brass... you never know when it's gonna let go. That said, I switched to open this summer and I'm shooting 38SC. I bought 3k new starline brass and after picking it up as much as I can as well as multiple lost brass matches, I've still got well over 2k pieces and shoot a match every weekend. Once you get past the initial cost of the brass, dies, gun, etc. 38sc actually ends up being cheaper than 9mm in the end as long as you're physically able to pick up your brass. I've loaded the same brass over 10x and only stop when it shows signs that it will fail or has failed. I've had 5 total pieces that the primer pocket would no longer hold the primer in place, and 2 total pieces that had a crack in it (not 100% sure those were out of my stash or range pickup). Another major advantage to 38SC is powder choices to make major and the room in the case to not spill powder on a progressive press while loading to major. Outside of that, as mentioned above there's a lot of maintenance as the gun and ammo is harder on its self and tolerances are far tighter on an open gun than they are on a production gun. It's really not that bad though, but the initial investment is substantial.
  12. Gonna be fun! I'm really looking forward to it after getting my butt handed to me at cowtown this past weekend!
  13. This was a really fun match, I shot all day friday and we had perfect weather and great RO's and stages. I'm still waiting for the final score update, but I know how hard these guys are working so I'll just check back later tonight. Thanks again Robert and the whole DTC crew!
  14. You'll need a new top end, slide/barrel (and bushing if not bull)/ejector/extractor/firing pin/sights, etc. and then it'll have to be fitted to your frame.
  15. It's junk... I'll buy it so you don't have to. Send me the contact info of the seller please.
  16. For .40 cal I'd use (and have and will continue to use) N320 and Titegroup. Either of those will be just fine with .40 cal and will produce a soft major and extremely soft minor. I use a 180gr plated projectile over 3.5gr for minor at 1.135 and 4.5 gr for major at the same length out of my G35. I've got to play with it now as I've gotten rid of the glock for a P16 but aside from loading longer I'm not changing much till the chrony tells me to. Using 3n37 will not help you much, unless you're shooting .40 open guns with a good comp that will make the most use of all that gas/powder.
  17. In no way do I mean this to sound critical or flippant... but how did you come up with 30%? Is that your "guesstimation"? Also, why doesn't the angle of the front/rear cocking serrations match? (perhaps it's just the angle that the photo was taken???)
  18. I think I have that same safe, had two buddies help me and we used a 4 wheel flat dolly then slid it across the carpet when we got to the room it was going in. It was surprisingly easy.
  19. I was using 4.6gr of N320 and a 180gr plated projectile at "max" (essentially just longer than factory) length to make major out of the (my) factory G35 barrel. Shoots soft and nice, even better at minor loads, it's soft as a baby's ass.
  20. I have mine setup with the following, but I'm looking to change it up and add the powder through expander, and a Lee FCD in the last station. Currently: 1. resize/decap 2. powder drop 3. Dillon low powder check 4. flare 5. seat/crimp Target: 1. resize/decap 2. powder drop / flare 3. Dillon low powder check 4. seat 5. Lee FCD
  21. I've owned off the shelf STI guns, full custom STI guns, and a SVI... They aren't even in the same ball park. The STI's are great for the money, and granted the SVI is a lot more, but it is SOOOOO worth it. Just pick one up if you get the chance, most people shooting them are more than willing to let you run a mag though it after a match, and you will seriously figure out a way to take out a 2nd mortgage on your house or sell a kidney on the way home from a match. As for the wait time, perfection doesn't happen quickly... Fast. High-Quality. Cheap. Pick any two.
  22. bad ass... you could use your ear buds under some ear muffs if you are not shooting open, or if you are and have GOOD muffs. I like it, gonna test it out on Saturday.
