  1. 2 38 Supers for sale on GunBroker right now. You never know what you might get on for.
  2. Quick ream job will solve the problem. Just sent one to TK Custom for a 627. Sent and returned all in a weeks time. Only have to send the cylinder to TK.
  3. Yes i do and how could he miss us being sex gods and all. Good times. ??
  4. Steve Thornton out of Indiana shoots a Ruger in ICORE. He has done some things that you would be interested in. I used to have his number but I lost it. You might try a Google search. I don't know if he gets on Brian Enos. If you do reach him tell him Dean Gomez gave you his name.
  5. Do you have to size them through the 38 super die first or does a 9mm fit in the cylinder? What about moon clips?
  6. Shot my V-Comp with the comp cap and the blank cap and never had a problem. Mine is one of the first run of V-Comp's when they came out in the 90's.
  7. 3 for sale by Wholesale Hunter on Gun Broker.
  8. Just scored a 627-4 38 Super and I have a line on someone who wants to trade me a 627 Lew Horton 6 1/2" with cash from them. Things are looking up today.
  9. Mchapman is talking about moon clip holders such as North Mountain. The James Austin Moon Clip Server is great and one works with all moon clips and caliber. I would still get two single post North Mountain for the times you will need to load off a table.
  10. In real life and not a joke Fin & Feathers in Iowa City has plenty of powder.
  11. This is a model 51470, 1911 A2 Tactical 2011 22TCM/9MM. I am looking for the base pad as in the picture or a replacement base pad that will fit the factory magwell also is there a base pad that will fit the factory magwell that will add capacity? Thanks Dean
  12. Take a look at James Austin Moon Clip Server add two single post North Mountain posts and you have the best of both worlds.
  13. It is all about the crimp that you apply whether it is roll or taper and I don't think it really matters what kind of bullet you are using. If you apply to little of either one it does not serve its purpose if you apply to much then you have overkill and you will bulge and deform cases. Remember a crimp is just to hold the bullet long enough for the powder to burn and to give you the velocity that you are looking for. If you want more velocity add more powder do not just rely on the crimp alone to get you there. I don't think ammo manufactures base their velocities on the amount of crimp they put on the bullet. I could be wrong but I don't think so . The only time I apply a heavier crimp is when I am shooting major 45 ammo or magnum hunting loads and again I do not do overkill just a little more to hold the bullet to get good powder burn. I shoot Precision Delta jacketed 230 grain .45 as my major ammo in in 625 and 1911 and I use a roll crimp. These bullets are FMJ without a cannelure and I have not experienced any problems so far.
  14. At the ICORE Midwest Regional in Tonitown Arkansas I had plated bullets pull out with a taper crimp inside my cylinder. I switched from taper to roll crimp and have never had that problem again. I have used lead, plated, jacketed and coated bullets with or without a cannelure and never have had the problem shaving lead or breaking the plating or coating. Roll crimp works best for me and you should try both and see what works best for you. Remember to roll crimp just enough to hold the bullet and not distort the bullet.
  15. My thoughts are all revolver rounds should use roll crimp when fired in a revolver after all a revolver is like a bullet puller that uses inertia to pull the bullet out of the case. Roll crimp is all I have ever used in 38 Short Colt. I am sure others will chime in on why they use taper crimp.
  16. .374 roll crimp using Lee 38/357 Factory Crimp die. I have a spacer in the die to keep the crimp down far enough to work on 38 short Colt.
  17. I have always wondered if the sideways mount on a revolver would get the lens dirty on the scope due to gas escaping out of the cylinder gap between the forcing cone and cylinder. Can anyone with one of these mounts chime in?
  18. Do a search on the forum's for 38 short colt. It will bring up all different types of loads for you.
  19. www.twoalphabullets.com They make coated bullets and the 160 that most are shooting in the short colt. John will size them .356, .357 or .358 just ask and tell him Dean Gomez sent you.
  20. I sight my iron sights at 15 yds and with the load I mentioned all 8 rounds touched at 15 yds. But each gun will shoot different. I tried 3.3 grains and started to get sticky extraction and if I seated below 1.160 I also started to get sticky extractions. I found most of these loads for VV by doing a search for Short Colt on these forums and by talking with Doug Carden. I also experimented with .357 sized bullets with good results. When I used the same load with just lead bullets and not coated my PF was 128. You might be able to go with more powder but you will need to seat the bullet out further.
  21. Short colt Starline brass, 3.2grains VV N320, 160 grains .358 2 Alpha Coated Bullets (same coating as Bayou bullets) seated 1.165 to 1.175. 133 PF Revolver used is a S&W 27-8 5" barrel.
