  1. There are plenty to buy on GunBroker.
  2. I actually had slots put in like Mag-Na-Port. 2 on each side but they were cut larger on the inside and tapered to the outside. Worked on the principle of a garden hose and a nozzle. As you start to shut off a nozzle the stream get stronger and shoots water further out and if you open the nozzle all the way the water has no force behind it. So the gunsmith who did this for me used the same principle on the slots. The larger hole on the inside and got smaller as they came to the outside. Worked great but traded the barrel when I had Pinnacle Custom make me a barrel with an integrated comp and port holes.
  3. If you are close to Garden City, KS look up Sand & Sage Rifle and Pistol Club. The shoot all sort of disciplines.
  4. I live in Mt Pleasant and unfortunately I will not be able to make the match. If you are interested I can lend you the gear to shoot the match both days. Let me know.Dean
  5. TK Custom makes a moon clip saver tool spent $85 and I have already straightened and saved 9 Hearthco moon clips. A few more which I know there will be and it will have paid for itself. I guess you could call these "tuned moon clips" ?
  6. Some people have put extensions on the moon clip holders that bring them up higher and since they are attached to the belt you are still legal.
  7. Sorry I stand corrected it should be 3.8 to 3.9 grains of Clays. I was thinking of a different load for my Short Colt using VV320
  8. 3.2 grains clays seated 1.250. Maybe start with 3 grains. Should be about 170 to 172 power factor.
  9. Spend $50 bucks and send cylinder and star to TK Custom to have reamed and polished to specs. That cures a lot of the problems with ammo. If you still have problems after that you need to start looking at your ammo.
  10. CRKT Ingnitor T. Carry it everyday and would feel naked without it.
  11. I can answer 1 question and yes 51947 does come with an ambitious safety.
  12. Didn't the 929 9mm only come out last year toward the end of the year? But H&R made a 929 for years but it is a 22 lr. ☺
  13. Hmmm 627 and 38 short colt what a concept. ✌
  14. I think it depends on each revolver on how it shoots different loads and bullets. Off a bench at 50 yds I can keep all rounds in the Xring with my V-Comp and my 627 with a cut back cylinder and a true .356 barrel. All with 38 short colt. I would imagine I might do better with 38 special with the V-comp but to shrink the group and still keep them in the Xring as they do now I see know point. If 38 special or long colt gave a a greater advantage I would definitely jump all over it. My preference is the shorter cases for reloads but with practice one can become efficient with the longer cases. I had the pleasure of being squaded with Jerry M a couple of times at some of the first IRC's and believe me he can reload 38 special faster than a rattle snake. But I think he might have even switched to short colt. I don't know for sure on that. I guess what i am trying to say is figure out what shoots best out of your revolver and then it is all practice after that.
  15. I think Rob would have won even if he was shooting 38 short colt. Damm I should've bought a 38 super. ?
  16. A nice 929 package for sale in the classifieds. Everything you need and then some. You will probably have just as much into a 627 by the time you get done. Not trying to talk you out of a 627 but you said you are already set up for 9mm. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=214346#entry2383915
  17. Depends on what you want done and there are somethings you can do yourself if you like to tinker with things.
  18. Do not cut cylinder down as it is not worth it but it does look cool. Shoot short colt and do not have cylinder reamed for 9mm unless you just want the revolver for 9mm. By shooting short colt you still leave the revolver capable of shooting 357 which will help in the resale or if you ever want to take it hunting. 38 short colt will do everything a 9mm can and then some. My suggestion is heavy bullets and slow powder. A nice recipe is VV320 3.2 grains and 160 coated bullets seated to 1.165. Should be about 133 PF. You do need a 357/38 sizing die.
