  1. Clays, Universal, N310, N350 and 3N38 all at Fin & Feathers here in Iowa City.
  2. Nice looking grip. Unless you plan on shooting major or power factor over 150 I would not put money into porting.
  3. The powder residue or the Ion finish?
  4. Same as Doug and it will keep them under 2" at 50 yds. I probably should have cleaned it.
  5. Hogue big butt grips, I was told by Pat Hogue that these grips were made by his dad as Pat could tell by the wood and the bottom of the grip. I purchased these back in the early 90's at one of the first IRC's.
  6. Well I don't know how to put pictures on existing topics but I do know how to put them on a new topic. So here you go and the part number from Dawson is 627-5. Enjoy
  7. Just received my new Dawson fiber optic front sight for my V-Comp. Fit perfect and looks great with my Millet rear sight. (yeah I had one stored away for this revolver) The only choices you have for fiber optic front sights for the v-comp are The new Dawson part # 627-5 is the cats meow and would recommend. Next is Williams Fire Sight part # 56435 (actually a rifle front sight) or drill out the one that came with the revolver. I would attach a picture but I can't figure out how to put them on. If somebody emails me at zemog@iowatelecom.net and you know how to put them on here I can send them to you. If anyone wants to see some pictures.
  8. Could be the oil getting up in the firing pin. Which would collect grime or grunge and not letting the firing pin float freely.
  9. 650 works great on crushing primers for revolver no need to hand prime.
  10. Just put a spacer in the 357/38 special FCD works great and I don't have to use a 9mm crimp die like most people are using on the 38 short colt. I don't go much for special it costs to much.
  11. Thousands upon thousands of rounds loaded with Lee Factory Crimp Die. 10mm, 38 short colt, 45 ACP, 40 s&w, 44 mag, 357 mag and 38 special with lead, jacketed, plated and coated lead bullets. Minor, major and hunting loads and I never have had a bullet pull and no problem with accuracy. I guess different strokes for different folks.
  12. I have 2 custom made by SDM and I had them made narrower than the normal width and then I went back to fiber optic. I can send you pictures and width tonight when I get home if you are interested. They are black and serrated.
  13. Are you looking for fiber optic or black serrated?
  14. I like the DAA holster and if trying to save some money go with the one that does not have the interchangeable insert. As far as moon clip loader/unloaded BMT is the best but also the most expensive but well worth it. I use the James Austin Moon Clip Server as I like to only reach for one place to grab a moon clip and then I have 2 single post North Mountain Moon Clip holder for loading off the table also on my belt.
  15. Put a WTB in the classified and see what comes up. You might find one that someone wants to part with.
  16. Don't forget Mojo I have not had the pleasure of doing business with him but others have on this fourm and some of the pictures I have seen look pretty good. Maybe others can fill in on the quality. Which I am sure it is outstanding.
  17. I hear you as there is nothing like the 45 revolver. I would look for any 5" 625 and then pick a known gunsmith to do the work you want. The titanium cylinder might be hard to come by but you could have the rest done and be shooting while you look for the cylinder. Apex Tactical and others do excellent work and are right up your alley on what you are wanting done. I would say it is better to have one done the way you want it instead of buying one already done and then have to have it tweek to your liking. Just my thoughts. Welcome to revolver.
  18. I would also suggest to go with an 8 shot if you you want to get serious in USPSA revolver. The 625 can and is fun for local matches but will not hold its own in large matches.
  19. What do you mean by custom? A 5" 625 with a trigger job, cylinder chambered, and a few other tweeks if needed will get you a competition revolver. Same with the 627 and 929. Plenty of good revolvers out there that just need a little tweaking to make them good to run at USPSA. If I am correct you cannot have a custom made barrel on a revolver in USPSA.
  20. If you can keep it under 2" at 50 the rest is nothing but gravey. ?
  21. 50 yds for the Standards. Once you are sighted in at 50 the rest is ok.
  22. I do not know how to post a link on here but if you go to you tube and search Smith & Wesson 929: a 627 killer you will be entertained by the video and might learn something from these experts on the exchange of comments. One states that he can keep all 8 shots in a group the size of the hole on the moon clip with all types of ammo at 50 yds and another one claims that he changed the coil spring and has a 3lb trigger pull. I think with the problems you are having these guys could give you a hand to solve all your problems. Makes me want to go out and buy a 929.
  23. TK Custom had some revolvers at the Nationals last year and the action job was outstanding. I would give them a try you will not be disappointed.
