  1. but the TGO has a cool video on the springfield site. http://www.springfield-armory.com/TGO.shtml
  2. I believe..both are the same once the railway is removed.. "Direct mounting is the key with the Slide Ride. Take the Railway sight, remove the Weaver base attachment and a few dollars from the price tag and, voila! Direct mounting capability!" this is c-mores description of the slide ride..so sounds like the same... I found an old SL750..had my smith mill off the legs and BAM , they mounted to the allchin..
  3. Wow..check out top master....another junior shooter...man I am just getting old...
  4. I had one made by a smith a long time ago...he is no longer in the business..give George Smith a call..another you might try is Chuck Rogers www.rogersprecision.com..he is reputed to be an excellent metalworker and fabricator..likewise with EGW..
  5. I was too..I remember Rob saying something during a class that he would give free time to this guy if his wife could get Kippi shooting again... maybe someone is going to get some lessons
  6. Looks like Kippi is shooting again...saw her name listed on one of the stages

    9x23 Dies

George does good stuff and the die should be great..but I use regular 9x19 dies in my press and just set accordingly..works great...
  8. It was done a long time ago by Bruce Gray...back before STI and SV..built in 9mm major on a p7m13 I can remember a short conversation about it with Bruce and in short he said a lot of work ..I think Boland did a 1911 conversion where he reversed the rails, redid the trigger linkage and rewelded the frame to take p7m13 mags too..
  9. Saw that...kind of disappointing...
  10. here are my two egw guns..love them http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...=ST&f=45&t=7846 also here is another site with some of EGW's work http://egw.radomski.us/
  11. Looks like the photographer's position changed a little..but TGO doesn't move too much.. Here is a photoshop look
  12. huh????? doesn't sound right to me...one of the little skill sets from working with Matt Burkett was to while drawing and shooting stronghand..draw a mag weakhanded ready for the reload...just a skill he was saying nice to have... but if that were the case..why would we be allowed to hold anything..briefcases, etc while shooting..why would we shoot strong hand only or weak hand only.. doesn;t make sense...have the RO who told you that produce the rule...
  13. I'm shooting 9x23...I like it a lot and have had no troubles at all..for me it works and I am willing to put up with brass.. If I were to recommend anything to a new open guy..I would tell them to make it easy on themselves and do 38super or 38SC.. but I am still a devotee of the 9x23..
  14. Talking with MattB.. He suggested a kind of a programmed pause..that the mag gets to the opening, you pause the 10th to verify then reload..he said that you may give a 1/10th or so..but you add in consistency.... A class with TGO, he suggested the same thing...He was saying we can;t be all Todd and when Todd misses he is already down grabbing another mag, not fumbling with the one in the hand.. anyway..something else to think about..
  15. My choice is pretty much Viht..3n37..got some 3n38 to try...I have played with both 124 and 115 and like the 115 in my guns..on is a 6 chamber and other is a 4 chamber two barrel port gun. My viht load is very consistent, has not been sensitive to altitude or temp..burns clean in my gun, no secondary fireball.. I am using WIN small rifle with WIN 9x23 cases..
  16. Widebody45 Caspian never has made a gun..ever.. yet the 40 based on the hi-cap frame is legal for limited..the hi-cap frame was introduced in 1993, 1994 as a 38 super frame. the Craig thing is because they welded on a long HEAVY dustcover onto the gun..never part of the frame.. The STI SOCOM is a long dustcover frame with the light rail milled in..its config is a little different than the Tactical..yet the tactical is legal for limited.. Let's let Amidon and USPSA give a ruling...if that configuration is legal.
  17. MoNsTeR there are a couple ..they run shops as a parttime business...one is up in Littleton, Steve Moore.and I think one is in the Pueblo area.. they build pretty decent guns..several aurora gun club ipsc guys use Steve Moore..and a local GM uses the Pueblo guy... thats about all I know of..or heard of..Gary Kimball and Andy Ginn used to run a really nice shop..but they have since retired...
  18. For me the distance will dictate if I dismount the gun and use both arms..for most courses it is possible to keep the gun mounted high and get there as quickly..or at least for me it does..at the most I will lower the gun, but keep both hands on... as to entering boxes..I find that entering from the left..if I lead with my left foot, my upper body is still doing quite a bit of moving laterally as I am entering the box..If I lead with my right..my upper body is has less movement and I don;t disrupt my dot as much when doing my aquisition.. anyway my thoughts..and what works for me..

    My Egw

EGW number 2... decided to try the portholes and see what all the fuss is about... Its noticeabley lighter than my other gun, about 1/2 inch shorter..hopefully spend some time in next few weeks on a timer..to see if it is actually quicker..

    My Egw

My first EGW blaster..she is a sweetie..and I don't know how I will give her up.. cut and lightened slide. straight comp with no portholes..
  21. thanks for the info.. any chance of some chrono data???
  22. Very cool...would love to hear what bullet/powder combo you find works best with the holes and the big chambers... Does the thinned triggerguard help you get a higher hold?? or what is the purpose?? does the plastic flex or is it strong enough... cool though..looks great..
  23. PaulW very exciting...so what are the details that you decided on...caliber, comp setup, etc.. I had a hard deciding..and spent last wed. anxiously waiting for the UPS truck to arrive with a new open blaster from EGW..had a tournament match this weekend..and boy was it tempting to take the new one to the dance. Let us know how it shoots and all the technical details.
  24. Nik Hey there..I run a photo dept for midsize paper in the west...we do a bit of travel with sports and the number of military installations in our area..I was surprised that our laptops did so well in Iraq..we totaled some of our photo gear that went...it worked no troubles..but when it came to cleaning and getting back to factory specs..Nikon replaced most of it.. anyway..have found OSX the latest version to be pretty stable with little crashing problems...not too many games.. a few..but good for DVDs on the airplane...
  25. For simplicity and robustness...I would vot for Mac..they are spendy though compared to the PC .. But I got 10 machines in hands of photographers..that do a bit of travel and in three years have had one machine go for a cracked monitor..bad packing to austrailia for Olympics and one loose its logic board..two survived with no issues for two months in Iraq..with all the dust and crap.. These were the G3 firewire versions..and we are upgrading to the G4 powerbook 12" this year...they also have a 15" and 17" version which are cool too. just my vote but not for everyone..
