    P-9 comeback???

where did you find the bigsticks for the p9??
  3. Very fun stage... I shot the second popper low center and it didn't go..so got the miss..but shot a 2.35 with an old iron sight open gun...should of shot it again..just to see.. in my LAMR..I decided..I was going to shoot six rounds only...no making up hits..just six...maybe should of made it up the shot.. but that wasn't my plan
  4. Bill Roger's name has been around IPSC a long time...Like many said..He was shooting around the time Bill Wilson was shooting, Michael Plaxco, John Dixon, Chip McCormick, David Cupp, John Shaw, etc. I think BE and TGO, and Jerry were the new kids...Todd hadn;t made it to the National scene yet...Be hard to say who could best who..kind of like who are the best sports hero...no way to get them all together at their prime... P-9 comeback???

thanks guys..that helps... funny thing..I was talking to my old gunsmith,..who built my original P9.since retired... We were talking about 9mm major and I was lameting about missing my old P9 and how great that would be..lo and behold..he said he still had all my parts for P9#2 that got put on hold when I switched to a Caspian. Frame, slide, 9mm barrel, and five or six mags..all stuck away in a box in storage.. woohoo.. Now we will see if this goes anywhere... (Edited by eerw at 9:37 am on Dec. 13, 2002)

    P-9 comeback???

What other magazines fit the Springfield P9 frame?? do eea 9mm mags? or CZ mags?? thanks for any leads... Does anyone still make basepads for them??
  8. Tom Kilhoffer...does a 9x23 conversion on the 686 ..moonclips available there too.. http://www.moonclips.com on a thread at pistolsmith.com , Richard Heinie talked about getting one.. for what it's worth
  9. Ron..I have shot it once... you do a lot of shooting... It is a test of being smooth, consistentency and quickness..as well as the mental game.. Beven has a great description of the match..not sure on the WIN challenge..as it didn;t exist when I shot the match, but the world shootoff is pretty fun...the targets are all steel, varied in shape..mostly on plate racks. The prize table is pretty good, I think most people get back their entry fee.. If you go..it is ususally very hot and little shade...so bring a chair, an umbrella and lots of water..
  10. Carefully use a Dremel and blend that area... Seems most of the current magwell...Dawson, EGW..need the modification to the grip frame area..Krebs was square up front and didn't need it..

    P-9 comeback???

I was able to shoot a steady diet of 124s in mine..using WW540. I had a 3port semi profile comp with side ports and used a Dr.Dot PDP2 scope..I remember we had welded a beavertail, magwell, rewelded the trigger guard, and checkered the front and rear...it was a beauty. Never broke a slide stop..Had two of the springfield slidestops and two of the Huening hardened pins...I liked the feel of the 9mm frame better than the larger 38super/45 competition frame that EAA came out with..very nice gun, with the lower power factor this would be a great gun in 9mm Major..

    P-9 comeback???

I miss mine..it was my first hiCap gun and got me my mastercard..I think its only downside would be it wasn't as flat as my current STI/SV gun and doesn;t hold as many bullets.. I would love to get it back and rebarrel for 9mm to play with it..
  13. Got it SGlite on one of my comp guns...that stuff is great...stays put and gun runs great...feels like a new gun..got it on the rails, comp cone, spring guide, barrel lugs.. My other comp gun is at the platers..so it will come back tight...hopefully the weather will turn cold again..and see what happens... Thanks BE..
  14. PaulW..good luck on the new gun...how does the short slide feel?? back in the P9 9x21 days... I chronoed this for experimetation and reference..buy using WW540..(the powder of choice then) Hornady 115XTP in Starlinge9x21 loaded at 1.165 OAL with 9.3gr ..went at 1528..I went as high as 9.9gr..nothing blew out..maybe a difference between 9x21 brass and the 9x19.. also loads with Hornady 124FP.. 1.165 OAL 8.5gr at 1423fps.
  15. tell us more... I love when people get new blasters...
  16. Brian..I'd be up to try some...weather turned cold up here in colorado.....sent you an email...thanks if there is any left. Stuart
  17. Hey Hawker...revolver is a lot of fun..I am just getting started too in revolver.. I am using an old Ernie Hill revolver holster I found on one of the auction sites...also the shoot the moon clip holders are good..but a another cool one is the bladetech moonclip holder..it will hold two full moon clips..you can see it at http://www.moonclips.com. A couple of guys are using them at our club..and they look pretty trick... I am finding practice is the key..you gotta be smooth on everything..reloads, trigger work..everything...
  18. I think we all agree that when you are on the line, you are there to shoot your best...no one plans to shoot 86% of there ability...we shoot to win..or be better than we were last match or the last stage... I know when I step to the line now...I still have a plan..I still say to myself..." be in the moment, be aware, be aggressive... I just don;t want people to think that because you are a M or above that you will shoot to brilliance every shot..or because you are a C or D shooter..you are less of a shooter...I have learned a lot from all classes of shooters...
  19. PaulW is right..the expectations from other shooters is tough....and it gets hard to enjoy the sport. I disappeared from shooting for about 4 years...marriage and kids..and it was a lot of fun to start shooting again..lots of new faces..a few friends..but basically I could go to a match..visit, shoot and game stages, work the clock, the board, tape and most of all have fun... I still have flashes of brilliance when I shoot and it reminds of all the work I did to get there...but it is a lot more fun now..that I got rid of the expectations that i was one of the better shooters in the section.
  20. What Ron said is definitely true.... you can go through a bunch of hoops, techno whiz bang stuff...lighter materials, heavier materials for very little performance gain...that you probably would have gotten by shooting... It really comes down to what you like and is it reliable all the time in all conditions... but this is what makes open fun....
  21. Given tha everyone's results are different...how much gain are people getting from adding the TJ holes in the barrel...is there an advantage over the hybricomp system...what are the perceived advantages over a standard comp...thanks for the input
  22. Phillip...very cool...let us know how it works... (Edited by eerw at 7:50 pm on Nov. 7, 2002)
  23. ahhhhhhhh TT....very cool... I can see Jerry, TJ and Max...but I can;t load you, JoJo and JJ.. (Edited by eerw at 12:58 am on Nov. 7, 2002)
  24. What loads are you guys shooting in your guns..115s? 124s??? Thanks for the photos...love looking at blasters...
  25. Good thread guys...I am beginning to like a lighter open gun too...I saw Bob's Pro Series 2 gun and it is very cool..my current gun is an EGW gun with light, short slide...I like this a lot..as the gun cycles very quickly and tracks to target quickly...I wish the comp was a little shorter..but the balance is good and reliability is good... George did his lightening on the slide, shortened a std length one and installed a cone barrel comp (instead of bull barrel) and a hollow guide rod..it handles really well and I would be hesitant to alter it..to try and find a better setup...guess I better find another frame to build for experimenting... lets keep this thread going with ideas.. thanks guys (Edited by eerw at 1:03 pm on Nov. 6, 2002)
