  1. wow...great stuff...thanks guys..just what I needed tonight...
  2. Looks like the one I have..from EGW..which I am told they make the official one for USPSA and are allowed to sell replicas of that to the public.. It is marked 141.5mm on one side and 171.5mm on the other..
  3. around our area..many restaurants (Panera Bread, etc )and coffee shops have WIFIs up..as does our airport, local arena and college campus.. look for hotels too..as when I was in Dallas area..the hotel we were in offered free wireless..popped open the laptop and I was on BE.com on the road..
  4. I think the main advantage is that it changes the feel of the gun.. It will make the slide cycle quicker, thus probably a snappier feel that when set up properly will feel flatter, quicker, dot settles quicker..etc.. it is possible to make a slide too light..as the cycle of the slide and the timing of the magazine to feed rounds is pretty important relation... also it is possible to take metal from the wrong places...thus making a slide weak and prone to cracking. somewhere is a thread where I think the ideal slide weight was given.. It probably isn't a necessary modification...as guns had metal on them for many years and they functioned just fine... a lot will depend on what feel you like and with what type of gun do you shoot best, and at what level do you shoot.. the most important thing to remember to doing well..is a gun that is reliable and accurate and a shooter that is consistent and efficient.
  5. Seems like you can find lots of deals on frame kits..both SV and STI..especially after matches where they are sponsors... I think the last five frames I have found..I have gotten from $225 to $300 shipped.. if I were to buy one..go with one of the distributors..like Brazos, Shooters Connection or Speed Shooters..they all have been great for me to talk with and purchase from...
  6. definitely chrono..even if you are shooting factory ammo.. things change so much just from factors of barrels, temperature, powder lots, etc.. my open gun has been chugging along nicely at 168pf-169pf..but new powder lot came in ...and out we go to verify.. and then make sure you keep a note book...can't tell you how often I have gone back to years ago data just to check something and work up a new load...
  7. Does anyone have time to photograph the 2mm, 4mm, 6.5 and 11mm together...just curious of what they look like in relation to each other... thanks.. Never mind....figured out where the difference are between the 2mm and the 4mm pad are...

    Slide racker

Seems the opposite around our section. In the seven clubs in our section..don't see enough gun empty starts or table starts to need one...I don't know..never seems like I have given anything up to guns with them when the final results are out..

    Slide racker

The trick is.. my guns don't jam...... ( knocking loudly on wood !!!!!!!!! )

    Slide racker

Hey RTR sometime too, they work well as a kickstand for gun on table type starts... if your gun jams they can be useful as they allow you a little more leverage to break the gun open if need be.. don't think I have had one on a gun since the mid-90s..when I shot a Springfield P9 where the rails were reversed.
  14. slide..barrel..FLGR, etc. I usually apply to the rails of the slide, the lower lugs and barrel link and the top lugs of the barrel..also along the guide rod and recoil spring, barrel outside of the barrel if has a bushing.
  15. would the PC 686 in 38 super work in IDPA..do they have the major/minor thing going on??? I know people say the 625 is the best for reloads...but just curious..
  16. cool that is what we used to do with the Caspian mags.. you used to be able to by a couple old rusted out tubes from Caspian take the top off one, the bottom off the other and weld them... how many rounds you getting your 170mm???
  17. feel your frustration...actually I have figured out ways to tune out toddlers and infants..IPOD or DVD with headset.. but what I do hate are the people that sit in front or back ..recline all the way back or grab the back of you seat to get up and down all the time..I am like sit the f$#% down and stay down.. anyway..we got lucky and our kids travel really well..most people cringe when they see us coming..but are pleasantly surprised when they fall asleep or quietly play the whole trip..
  18. That is an older site...cool stuff..aaron did some really interesting milling work.. the millenium fighter on the open gun page..was the SEPT 1998 cover gun of American Handgunner.
  19. you really have to watch your bids..and add the shipping in..some have really high shipping..some items.the seller has no idea what it is and throws out a manufacturers name.. You eventually find some sellers that are very good to work with and sometimes there are deals and sometimes the price is fair.. but you really got to wonder sometimes about buyers and sellers..
  20. probably have a neighbor with wireless network in their home that is unsecured.. your laptop most likely has a wireless card in it and it is connecting itself to the network.. do you have coverage throughout your whole house??
  21. did you see the one where a guy had a XD 40 compact mag for auction..bid was at $305.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT yes there are some nuts out there..
  22. looks like they use bomar or bomar copy on the SW1911 and a wilson on the performance center version..if you have the fixed sight version with the novak..be worth looking at the Novak adjustable..
