  1. I don't compete much - and I go through periods of using one gun or another. Recently, I've been using my Glock, to ensure easily making the required hit factor in the "safe shooter test" for the Finnish reservists' version of Practical Shooting. Now that is done and the plan is to go for the revolver next.
  2. I keep a log of my shooting sessions: date, location, gun, approximate round count, comments. The old one was lost Now it is an excel sheet in Dropbox.
  3. An IPSC Rifle shooter might care. Using that right barrel with slower twist, you can make Major PF (320, possibly being reduced to 280) with the 300BLK case, out of the AR platform.
  4. Out of the right barrel (and the rest put together right) it will do sub-MOA, at least with good supersonic loads - within reasonable distances for its velocity
  5. Where is all the dirt and what is it? Barrel? Everywhere? All soot?
  6. Cool. I'm sure I'd like a wheelgun with a scope.
  7. I get nervous from thinking too much. Once I know what I need to do, I need to stop thinking about it: take a deep breath to stop the mind racing, Make Ready without delays, and go hit the targets. I haven't competed much but, for the one where I beat everybody, I spent the whole day before doing things that kept me focused on anything but shooting.
  8. People have pointed out a couple of different angles to the question: - what powder charge you need, to get the bullet to the velocity you want - what powder charge you can use, and keep your firearm - and yourself - in serviceable shape.
  9. What about rule 21.2b Remains in effect – a slide may be modified specifically for the purpose of installing sights, and for no other purpose. That is USPSA rules. IPSC does not have that many rules for Production. There is: 16. Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific model handgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following: 16.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing (the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably required in order to fit replacement OFM parts or components), are prohibited...... http://www.ipsc.org/pdf/RulesHandgun.pdf

  11. The air force range that I have access to has a policy of no pointing over the (generous) berm. The range faces the take-off / landing path, so there's also a policy to stop shooting when we detect an airplane...
  12. I have a revolver, a 1911, and a plain vanilla Glock, so I have some choice...
  13. Working fine for me. Check the selections on the left, under "Other"?
  14. I still want to see something for every shot. Really up close it might just be the silhouette of hands and pistol on top of the target.
  15. Yes,45acp.Using N340 I feel the not burned powder in my face. ... and you don't like that? Try N320. It should burn more completely. Start with about 1.4 grains / 0.1 grams less than N340, I think: http://www.vihtavuori.com/en/reloading-data/handgun-reloading/-45-acp.html
  16. My weak and strong hand hits seem to be better when I let the pistol be slightly angled. 20 or 30 degrees? Some body mechanics, perhaps. When I extend an arm naturally, my hand does not end up in vertical position.
  17. .45ACP? N320 should make Major, easy. N310 in a big case is a bit scary because you use so little. If you want gas for the holes, go slower: N340, 3N37, N350.
  18. Hmmm. I've seen a couple of guys shoot TS. Need to ask them for a closer look next time.
  19. Right. Safe practices need to be adhered to at every level. I know that people have been DQd in my area for sweeping their own hand while pulling a rifle or shotgun from a gun slip - and for bending over to pick up something from the ground, on the way to the Safety area with a slung rifle.
  20. This one? http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=232375 Wow... Maybe the mandatory safety training that our IPSC Region requires isn't such a bad idea.
  21. P226 grip is big. The CZ-75 that I remember felt smaller than a Glock 17 or 19. I'm not sure how different the TS is.
  22. Things get complicated with multiple guns. With just the rifle, it is much more like the Pistol game, with some longer distances thrown in.
  23. Tricky.... Do you have chance to handle or even shoot a SS gun and a CZ? I have a Glock and a 1911 derivative. I like them both but the Glock grip angle and shape suit me better. It has been a while since I handled a CZ but I recall the grip feel was closer to the Glock than the 1911.
  24. In my eyes, everybody who participates in a competition is a competitor. The reason why they participate does not change that. I'm not a very competitive person, so when I "compete", it is just to see how I cope with the challenge (whatever it is). No expectations or ambitions. On a few occasions I've done pretty well compared with others too.
  25. There's got to be something wrong with a gun that dents bullets. Everybody can make a pistol that doesn't cause dents - why not a carbine?
