  1. Maybe they convert from mm to inch to mm to inch to mm? Maybe they just make a new web page based on an old one - and forget to update some of the items. (... been there, done that)
  2. I could like the Limited Custom - would like to handle/try it side by side with the latest from CZ.
  3. At least he mentions it in the book. If it works, good. I have a faint memory that I used to have problems focusing on sights with both eyes open. Somehow, it has become the natural thing. Try it without the tape some time. I believe the eyes and brain are likely to learn it.
  4. Humid and hot isn't quite ideal for storing powder and primers - or, at least the packages I have say that dry and cool is best.
  5. It does look right - but Tanfoglio has some interesting, and also new, stuff too. If I were looking for something to use in Standard/Limited/Production, I'd really want to handle some options before buying.
  6. Proper grip. You can make the trigger finger work, as long as your hand is not way too SMALL for the grip and trigger.
  7. IPSC and USPSA targets? I shoot both. One for civilian sport, one for military reservist "sport". Who cares as long as the shapes don't change too often. There's too many different kinds of targets in use in different sports already.
  8. That was interesting... My shooting range trip turned into bike biathlon practice I got started a little later than planned. Packed my Detonics, a few magazines, holster, mag pouches, a couple of boxes of ammo, ear muffs, a target center, patches, tape, thumbtacks, screwdriver and a sweater in a small backpack - and got on my bike. Temps were a little above freezing after all, and there was more wet snow than expected. There was enough snow and slush on the ground to slow me down. Headwind... The last half a kilometer were in 6 inches of snow with just a couple of old car tracks. So it took longer to get there. I arrive out of breath and with my glasses wet. What time is it? 15 minutes to "cease fire" (noise regulations...). Get my wet windbreaker off and put the sweater on. Tape the target center to someones discarded cardboard target and put that on a stand. Wipe most of the water from the lenses with my finger (forgot to bring anything for that). Put some holes in the target pretending I'm under some sort of pressure.... Emptied five 7-round magazines from the 25 meter shed, before going to look. On an IPSC or USPSA target they would all have been As. Acceptable. Time's out, no more noise allowed. Riding back was easier: a little tailwind and more distance down gentle hills. Felt like I'd had some exercise. --------------------------------- About +1 Celsius today, too, but more good snowball snow on the ground. -1 Celsius expected for Monday, which should make conditions a little more dry.
  9. Exactly. Start from Vihtavuori data (linked above) and see what happens. If they don't list your exact components, see the bullet that is closest to what you have in weight and bullet style.
  10. About 0 Celsius (32 F) and possibly light snow fall expected for Saturday. Sounds about right for riding my bicycle to the pistol range.
  11. I just saw a review for the Ruger, and there was one factory ammo, out of many, that was giving good accuracy. Are there different views about that? There's a pretty good variety of aftermarket stocks and some other upgrades for them.
  12. Shooting from a rest is a skill too. Some seem to get worse results from a rest, than standing, until they get the setup right.
  13. Polishing some parts or areas can look cool - but even then, fingerprints and scratches will be way more obvious in those areas. Cylinder flutes, flat areas of a hammer?
  14. Some old borrowed High Standard 22 in a bullseye type match.
  15. This might or might not be news in USA. The EU Commission has submitted to the European Parliament a proposal for a revised Firearms directive. This article sums it pretty well, so far: https://www.all4shooters.com/en/Shooting/law/Firearms-United-EU-Gun-Ban-ongoing/ The list to define rifles that they want to ban might look familiar: 1) Semiautomatic firearms converted from full auto firearms 2) Semiautomatic firearms with 2 or more characteristics from the list: a) folding stock pistol grip c) 2 or more Picatinny rails d) option to mount Bayonett; e) firearms shorter than 830 mm; 3. Firearms with barrel shorter than 450 mm; 4. Semiautomatic firearms using the same ammunition as used by military forces if they have one or more from point (2), namely 5.45 mm x 36; 7.62 mm x 39; 7.62 mm x 54; .223 Remington; .308 Winchester; .30-06
  16. IPSC has already gone there. At least it is better than nothing when the weather is cold or sloppy and indoor ranges for powder burning guns are few and far between. we wear winter clothes and put gravel down on our range. Some do tough it out even when it is -30C (-20F, or so). People's functioning in that weather does get a little sticky, though. Many more prefer the indoor range where the girls can shoot in T shirts.

    No water

People don't like it much when their sewage lines freeze.
  19. In Steel Challenge, the targets are spaced wide enough that leading with the eyes, or even turning your head to find the next target, gets you there fastest. You have to find the target before you can get your sights on it quickly and accurately.
  20. To me, temperature figures in Fahrenheit are not particularly informative. 0 when quicksilver solidifies and 100 for a person with a bit of a fever. Right? (Northern Europe)
  21. +1 Celsius. That is just above the freezing point. A few degrees lower expected for the coming week.
  22. Vihtavuori N320 for low power or just making Minor, or N340 if you like lower pressure or more velocity.
