  1. I thought USPSA also did Rifle matches??? Or is it always Multigun if you also want rifle games in USA?
  2. What is "The Time Plus option" and what does it have to do with Power Factor?
  3. http://ipsc.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=20289&page=4 There's a proposal to lower Major PF from 320 to 280 in IPSC Rifle. At least one justification is that some are already making 320 with the .300 BLK case, but they have to push it a bit to get there. Sounds a bit like the story of 9 mm Major in Pistol. Any thoughts?
  4. Give it a try. According to Vihtavuori data, N135 looks pretty good with 167 and 168 grain bullets, in terms of velocity. N140 often seems to be the best for accuracy, though.
  5. Way back, somebody was advertising special bullets for bowling pins: like JHP, except they had sharp teeth on the edge
  6. Did you hit a target? See what those rounds do on paper.
  7. Metronome? You mean that you are pushing the pace with a steady beat, in a "find the next target" drill?
  8. Of course you can get good hits with target focus. The difficult question is: which targets.
  9. My first exposure to self-loading centerfire pistols was when I got a Government temp job in a Peace Keeping mission: I was issued a Sig P226 to carry, in addition to the assault rifle. We had to carry with empty chamber, so I picked the surest and fastest way to rack the slide, minimizing the need for fine motor skills: grab the slide from above, at belly level, with thumb and index finger on rear serrations - push gun through and meanwhile maybe pull back on the slide. Haven't felt a need to break that habit. I'm more gentle when handling an empty gun.
  10. I can imagine situations where a RO could think that a range equipment failure caused the fall. A prop that couldn't take the weight of the shooter. Maybe even dirt from previous shooters' shoes making a platform slippery? But normally, a fall is the shooter's problem, unless something DQ-able happens.
  11. It is quite possible to design a stage so that you have to shoot something through a very low port.
  12. I recently got a somewhat old school holster, by Price Western in UK, for my revolver. Very pleased so far, and I'm tempted to get one to fit my 1911, too. http://www.sportshooter.de/en/equipment/holsters/for_revolver/pwl_sport_holster_model_1004.htm http://www.pwluk.com/en/product/d-x-holster/
  13. I just shoot badly in prone... I try to get in an angled position, with the strong side shoulder down. At least that lets me keep my arms straight enough to see the sights. Any tips?
  14. The stuff that I have on my 1911 came from a skateboard shop. The edges go under the grip panels there. It felt a little abrasive to start with. Either my fingers got tougher or the grit got dulled.
  15. The plastic rod that I have has been adequate. My lever and switch are very sensitive. Like: I can make it beep just by dropping the lever on the switch.
  16. Mine has always worked without any tricks. - The lever not moving freely? - Something sticking in the switch?
  17. Maybe I'm just lucky but the trigger on my old, completely stock, G19 is pretty nice. No creep or mush and a clear release.
  18. I believe fluctuations between hot and sub-freezing are the worst. Unopened containers may last for decades even if conditions are not the best. I've had half empty containers stay good for many years in comfortable room temperatures. I believe militaries tend to keep their long term storage somewhat stabilized. A few months in the cold will do no harm, as long as you keep your powder and primers dry.
  19. A tactical reload where you retain the magazine. Grab a full magazine so that it leaves the index finger free, eject the old magazine onto the index finger, push in the full one. The part that takes time is really when you put away the old magazine.
  20. They look cool, so I like them - but they are too close to the muzzle to be actually useful for me.
  21. Uhh... there's more secure ways to retain the empty mag.
  22. Forget speed for a while. Go and shoot groups or bullseye, or something.

    Suicide

Hopefully complying with forum rules: people who commit suicide by driving into the front end of an oncoming heavy truck. people who commit suicide by going in front of a fast train. If you must do it, don't involve innocent strangers more than you have to...
  24. A very personal choice.... Can you get some pistols in your hands? I carried a 226 on a government temp job. The grip didn't fit MY hands (which are not very large). I managed to shoot it pretty well anyway. Also, I don't like DA/SA. So, from the pistols you mention, I'd take a 1911. But... a Glock or CZ / Tanfoglio would be good choices too, with a little more modern design than 1911.
  25. Just make sure your cases are dry, before you start loading... dont ask...
