  1. In order to achieve that type of contact, you just file down the tip of the hook until it fits as desired?
  2. I had one that could get 24 in, but wouldn't run reliably and would occasionally salt shaker so it's been replaced with MBX. It was a STI 9/38 tube, Grams spring and 38 super follower and Dawson SNL pad. No spacer.
  3. Just tune your extractor for supercomp and you should be good to go. Or fit a new extractor and tune it for supercomp and then you'll have both. Getting your extractor to run both can be done, but is a chore. Most here will probably say put in a 9mm/38 supercomp Aftec and be done with it.
  4. I suppose it may be worth a shot. Not quite the right season for it haha
  5. Highly recommend Bevin. $29 and it'll be back in the mail the day after he receives it
  6. I tried getting into the sport a few years ago and bought myself a decent kit....and then had a kid shortly afterwards. Anyone have any ideas where I can sell a lightly used AMS Fire Eagle? I don't have the time currently and my interests have leaned more towards shooting. I've tried the local bow shop and they don't buy used bow fishing gear. Any ideas besides Craigslist?
  7. I'm not doubting, just verifying. Personally if I paid $145 for a 155mm if be calling MBX for a replacement or a fix before sinking more money into it
  8. Did you try stacking the rounds as recommended in their videos?
  9. Fwiw my 170mm MBX mag has been absolutely flawless. It works so well that I'm trying to make the switch to solely MBXs. Just need funds
  10. What kind of mag is it? If it's a 140mm 9/38 I'll trade you my sti tube, dawson pad, grams gut mag for it...
  11. My SS load is about 170-172 pf with a 230 grain rn at 1.24. I also use a 14lb spring.
  12. At the end of the day it's an assembly line, factory made gun. Not saying theres anything wrong with that. But just like every other factory made gun there are variations in the tolerances that don't allow every gun to be perfect out of the box. If you want a gun guaranteed to run do a custom build. Otherwise just be prepared for the fact that it MAY need work to get it to run like you want it to, just like every other factory gun out there.
  13. Exactly this. Especially if you repeatedly shoot with the same people and they are somewhat consistent. While being at the top of the overall would be nice, at this point in the game my goal is to improve MY shooting. Beating people/winning is not my priority but instead a welcome side effect of improvement
  14. Powder choice and your loads standard deviation play into this. Give this a read
  15. Not the ONLY one. I'm planning on giving it a go because I want to shoot a railed TRP in a match or two. I've already got enough 10 round mags so I might as well
  16. Jack, I'm assuming he means 1.19 1.235 etc. Otherwise that's crazy short for a super and major loads
  17. You can probably "get by" with just 4. At least 5 is a good idea, but more is ideal. More mags means more options. Plus its nice to have spares in case one is giving you fits. I'm a SS shooter and I rock 6 on the belt, but I carry 10 mags total in my bag just in case. Most production guys I shoot with prefer to have at least 5 on their belt plus 1 in the gun.
  18. Thanks for the reply. I also have less than perfect vision and am running a .100 front sight. Just curious as to the theory, especially coming from someone who has taken the time to put in the work testing. I'm interested in what you think after testing.
  19. I'm extremely interested in seeing pictures as well.
  20. What are you hoping to achieve by going to a thinner front and notch? Are you looking for a potentially more precise sight picture? There's not a significant change in the ratio of front blade width to rear sight notch
  21. The listed max load is only about 1100 fps with a 115. Even the loads listed under 9mm are rather tame. You could try it, but I would be mighty careful working up loads... but If it were me I would just skip it and buy some more N105 or 3n38
  22. It might be about the worst metering powder I have ever tried As to the OP. Hodgdon's website lists a 38 super load for 115 grain XTPs. I'm sure you could do something with it, but it's probably not the ideal powder.
  23. This is exactly why I run mine as well. It makes the transition a LOT easier. I'm a SS shooter primarily but bought an open gun for those days when I just don't feel like reloading.
  24. My thoughts exactly. Expecially at nearly $700. That's just ridiculous
