  1. Trust but verify. Why not do a quick test? It's easy and takes next to no time. I'd rather be sure than assume I've got a functioning gun. I clean and then walk outside and verify my zero with 10-20 rounds.
  2. Just so you know. They make the Eagle in both bushing and bull barrel as well.
  3. 115s will also allow to up your charge weight and get more gas for the comp. I'm loading 115g HAPs over 8.8-8.9 gr HS6 at 1.175 for about 172ish pf in a KKM 5.4 in barrel.
  4. Just FYI 57K, your post comes across as extremely arrogant and condescending. Us lesser reloaders must be making truly awful rounds with our Frankford Arsenal digital calipers and Lee dies. The shortened, sensationalized quote at the end is a little unnecessary as well. We're here to collaborate and share ideas. Not talk down to each other.
  5. I've noticed this same thing. Same setup as me as well. 2 things helped me: #1 Lube is magical. Smoothes everything out. #2 Be smooth but forceful on the powder die up stroke. Any hesitation seemed to make it more difficult. Also you might try cleaning your die if you haven't in a bit. I've noticed it can build up a bit of junk and it won't run quite as smooth. Are you using a u-die or just the standard size die?
  6. It auto embeds the video if you use the full website on a desktop. Not sure about mobile or tapatalk.
  7. According to the Natchezss website it is comparable to Clays and WST. https://www.natchezss.com/prima-sv-granular-shotgun-powder-1-1-lb.html
  8. Have you tried slugging your barrel to get the actual bore dimension? What brand is the barrel?
  9. I'd even go a step farther Jack. EVERY part on an open gun should be considered a wear part and likely will be replaced at some point. It's part of the open game. It is just hard on guns and beats the hell out of em.
  10. I've never bothered even with 9 major. Just sort to cull the crap brass and start loading. Sorting your brass (and bullets) will help reduce your inconsistencies and increase your accuracy. But IMO it's not worth the time investment for USPSA. YMMV
  11. Well, the first place I'd look is bullet variance. If all the bullets aren't identical, then you will always have variance in OAL. In my experience coated bullets from the same lot can vary a decent amount in most dimensions. It might be enough when loaded in mixed brass to explain your variances.
  12. Does the bag on a bagged target eliminate a grease ring?
  13. Well I currently run CMC PM but the followers have started failing to lock back after a little over a year shooting ~2 matches a month. I don't really want to have to replace followers yearly. Just wondering what others were running and finding durable/reliable
  14. Just checked mine. I'm around .379 at the halfway point down the case. .372 at the mouth. I use a standard Lee size die
  15. IMO if everything loading, feeding, firing and extracting well I wouldn't worry about it. What brand is your resize die? Lotsa folks get a U-die specifically for this effect. It helps ensure reliability
  16. Ah, must just be lighting on the hammer then. It looked uncoated to me.
  17. Sorry bout the sidetrack mods. I was having too much fun. Moral of the story taymag, Do what makes you comfortable. Your gun should be fine either way. It might just take a little bit more elbow grease to get it clean if you leave the grime caked on. Personally, I usually clean my comp guns (1911s and 2011) every thousand rounds or so. My carry gun generally gets cleaned after every use.
  18. This is what's got me addicted. Getting beat by folks I see daily is a great motivator.
  19. "This is the problem with Internet forums, people resort to verbal insults and detract from the intent of the post"
  20. That looks like it turned out excellent. Everything but the internals hammer and trigger got a fresh coat?
  21. I'm not seeing the contradictions, I did not insult anyone, nor did I put forth falsehoods as facts... But we have derailed this thread enough. Carry on.
  22. It's too bad there's no dedication line on the donation screen or I'd have put your name down Jack.
  23. No. I wrote exactly what I intended to say. 1.) You can clean a gun too much. Over cleaning a barrel WILL wear it out faster than cleaning it a reasonable amount. 2.) I said I have done it before. It's not my preference, but I did it. I wanted to give it a thorough test to ensure reliability. It was just a small anecdote. What you do with your guns cleaning wise makes no difference to me. I also said nothing about "someone" not being confident in their gun because they clean it. Mine get cleaned regularly. I just simply wouldn't carry a gun that I couldn't trust to function dirty. You never know what the situation will bring. Go pick a fight somewhere else.
