  1. If you are running minor loads you definitely want the slowest (gassiest) powder you can get your hands on. You will have far less gas to run the comp with minor.
  2. I shoot for a single digit SD. Anything more than 10 and the load gets re-evaluated and reworked to see if I can get it lower.
  3. You can load a little hotter. Or if you like the load you can try running a lighter recoil spring.
  4. I think he's referring to recoil coming straight back (harder hit into the hand), not muzzle rise.
  5. 9mm is appealing enough to me that I'm changing my new to me open gun over to it from 38 super. It needs a new barrel anyhow so I figured I'd go the cheaper (and easier on the back) route. Plus I can fund a good portion of the work with the sale of the 38 super brass and dies. Open sounds like too much fun to have to worry about picking brass all day.
  6. Classifiers are just another stage, they should be treated exactly like any other stage in the match. That's a pretty big mental hurdle though, especially if you have them built up in your head as the "test". Shoot a few more matches and I'm sure you will settle in to the more freestyle environment that is USPSA. Dryfire during the week and matches on weekends.
  7. Excellent summary, I'm about to start down the 9 major road. I'm gonna bookmark this for future reference.
  8. Always always always redo the plunk test with any change in bullets as well. They might look the same, but different brands vary ever so slightly. Pulling lots of rounds is not fun, and neither is shooting everything single shot.
  9. Hey, sometimes it takes getting your butt kicked (especially when you know you are squarely to blame) to get refocused and re-motivated. What really draws me is the knowledge that I KNOW I can do better. It's just about finding the way to put it all together at match time.
  10. Sounds like a good excuse to start reloading. No more waiting on match ammo to show up.
  11. Another aspect to consider. Are you going out to matches to win? Or are you out there to have fun and learn and just shoot some? The competitive "advantage" of major .40 over 9mm may not be worth the added money and time cost if the end goal isn't to outright win. Plus who says you can't try one caliber out and switch to the other if it doesn't fit your style.
  12. Generally speaking, at the top tier 9mm (minor) is a large handicap. It is slightly offset with increased capacity over 40, but IMO it doesn't offset the scoring advantage. It may or may not affect you as much depending on you skill level.
  13. The racers will save you a slight amount of room. I needed all the space I could save so its the route I went. I have a 30" waist and I run 5 on my belt with another trash pouch for my barney mag. The last pouch is pretty far back there, but reachable.
  14. I have found that the orange is best in really bright conditions. Low light, the green seems to pick up more light. But maybe that's just me. But I rarely switch from the orange anyhow nowadays
  15. Theis holsters are pretty solid. I've been using his tuckable IWB for a number of years now. He might have something that works for you.
  16. I did this about 6 months ago. Dawson front sight took about 30 minutes to do for a first timer. I went real slow for the perfect fit.
  17. Second on the Dawson. I went with a .100" wide front fiber. It blazes in the sun with the orange rod.
  18. FWIW as the owner of a Trojan in .45. If I had the spare cash, a RO would be in my safe already.
  19. Yup, I just went through and checked several browsers recently. I use mobile at home and on mobile. The only spot I'm forced to use IE (and therefore no quote feature) is at work.
  20. Sounds about right. No big deal for me. I only am forced to use IE at work
  21. It appears to be IE related. Other browsers work fine for me, but I cannot get IE to work.
  22. The prochrono w/blue tooth is a nice feature to have. The app does all the maths for you. You just have to input the bullet weight and other specs and you are good to go. It even graphs the shots for you
  23. Excellent. Now go shoot the hell out of it
  24. I've found I usually get very slow, but excellent hits WHO. I guess I concentrate extra hard while shooting weak hand because its still so seemingly unfamiliar. Eye dominance should be a relatively easy fix with a spot of tape, or if its only on weak hand shots a bit of a squint in the non-dom eye.
  25. I can't imagine it being enough to matter. I mean how many hours do factory rounds spend vibrating in the back of trucks traveling from place to place? Not exactly the same, but similar effect.
