  1. Hmm I have the 38 Super DVC and had no issues, but I did try to run 38 Super in it first then found a little tag in the box that said it was tuned to run Supercomp. So I run that now with no issues. Nothing on the frame to hold up? Does the Gun go back into battery without a bullet?
  2. DVC Open I take it? 38 super or 9mm? Are you using factory ammo?
  3. I started with a 34 then moved to a 35 for limited. After about a year I moved into a 2011. Sti DVC limited to be exact. I love it. Simple just like a 1911 but yes they can be pricey. When you have to get tuned mags. If you shoot up at Wyoming antelope there are a few guys who use cz's in limited. My best suggestion is to try both and see what you like better.
  4. I would think this would be correct. Since it's 2 days of shooting, I'm thinking 10 stages each day. Now they also had a trio of stages that were very low round counts (1, 6, 12). We could see that again so maybe 23 stages again. Last years Limited Nats there was 458 rounds
  5. Backup parts, oil, cleaning kit, med kit w/trauma pak, timer, work gloves, trash bag (as Rain cover), Spare lighter, cigars.
  6. I have MBX magazines that I run in both my DVC Limited (.40S&W) and DVC Open (.38SC) and I have not had any problems except with one mag that was bad out of the bag. I showed Adrian at Limited Nationals last year and he took care of it right away, I guess it was a weld point that was causing the rounds to hang up. Other than that I have not had any issues with their mags at all.
  7. They discount after 2,000 or more. Beyond that I'm not sure.
  8. This is one of the reasons my local club has an "Intro to Action Pistol" class that I highly recommend any new shooter I talk with to take first. Not only does is go over the basics of rules and equipment but they also run 2 stages to give a new shooter a controlled environment. I took this class back when I started and it was nice to be able to go through a mini match before I stepped into a normal match.
  9. So did they bring back officer Jimmy in the second one or explain a bit more about him?
  10. I think Sarge hits it on the head. Down here in Florida we really don't have any stop in the matches. Most of the local clubs run year round and we get really busy during the winter months. In the summer is when some of the matches seem to thin out as the heat and humidity can be almost unbearable. We have a couple of Level 2 matches here in Nov and Dec, then the Florida State Champ in January. Followed by the Florida Open in February.
  11. Where do you play now? I moved from Production to Limited. I liked learning how to break down a stage with out really having to worry about multiple reloads. I would think your choice would depend on what you feel is more your game.
  12. Did you start by getting a backup to your main gun, or did you upgrade?
  13. So how many of you have a backup open blaster? Did you buy one just for a backup or did you upgrade and keep the old one the backup? Last years Limited nationals I was forced to use my Glock 35 for half of the first day when my DVC Limited decided to stop working. It was a nightmare. So this year I am running Open and was just wondering how many of you have a full backup rig.
  14. If you look at the STI web site the Eagle is not listed. The only difference between the Edge and the Eagle was the barrel. Edge was a bull barrel and the Eagle is bushing (making it legal for IDPA). I agree with Scottie - I'd go with the Tac DS. You could shoot this in USPSA or 3 gun if you wanted to, or even carry if you so desire.
  15. Welcome. This place is a wealth of knowledge.
  16. I wouldn't stop at just a badge for Donations. I have been on other forums where they have things like 10,000 posts, Founders, ect. We could do things like 1000, 10000 posts, a GM badge, Major winner (Area or Nationals) and so on. We do have the races to Classes and things like that. What ever we can do to keep this add free I am all for.
  17. I wonder if you could make a badge or Sticker for those members who donate? I have donated and will plan on doing it again soon.
  18. I have had Ghost, CR Speed and DAA Racer pouches. I like the Racers for my Limited/Open rig, and use the CR speed for my Production and Single stack. I never liked having production set up with bullets out, but I could see the advantage with single stack mags. I think if you want to try each way the Ghost pouches are the way to go. Then if you find you like one way or the other you can always upgrade later and sell the old ones.
  19. I was one who started at this club in the Intro class. I have never wanted to be known and one of those people who just shows up and shoots. I actually enjoy setting up the stages. Now I have been to a couple of other clubs in the area and think that this is just part of the culture of this club. I think having the Intro class is a big help and the fact that most of the action pistol events seem to max out is a good indicator that the Directors must be doing something right.
  20. Production This is where I started. I was simple and I could shoot what I had. I liked the idea of getting into it with little cost and just learning the basics, but reloading sucked. So I moved to… Limited Started with a Glock 35 that I did some changes and work to run 20 round magazines. Well I amped it up with the purchase of a 2011 and race rig. After a year it was time to move to… Open Yeah a race gun and time to run with the big boys. Fewer reloads and a dot. Limited-10 Just one word Why? Single Stack It’s fun for a couple special events a year but not something I’d do all the time Revolver ROFL!!!!!! I may try PCC but I do enjoy running with a pistol over a rifle.
  21. I would wait till after the weekend. 1. Make sure USPSA is for you. Some people who try that and steel like the steel better. 2. If you are going to stay with USPSA and you are going to get a gun to compete with you will want to find the right rig that works for you and what you will be competing with. For example If you stay with the Springfield some mag pouches work better than other. What works for Springfield may not work for well for Glock, M&P, or what make you choose. I started with my normal Carry belt and a basic uncle mikes holster and 2 double mag pouches that I picked up from our local Gander Mountain. After a while I moved to a Comp belt (double belt setup) and Ghost pouches. Then moved to CR Speed, and then to a Double Alpha setup for Limited/Open. Yeah you could say I caught the bug.
  22. I left the first spring out. It seems to run well with only the one spring.
  23. So I just started loading with my 650. I have loaded 300 rounds and I am noticing powder on the shell plate and floor. It seems to bounce out when it moves stations. I have seen upgrades for the Ball Bearing, and the shell plate cam follower. Do any of these help, or is it just the price of doing business?
  24. I have a DVC Open in 38sc and was having a similar problem with both MBX and STI mags. I removed the stock extractor and put in the Aftec and it's been running like a charm ever since.
